The thesis is a comprehensive guide for creation of the taxidermal mounts of birds and mammals. There are described both old and modern methods of taxidermy in this thesis. Thesis is enriched with news from contemporary foreign literature. The result of thesis is 8 mounts (6 birds, 2 mammals) which will use as teaching tools during teaching of biology. Current view on the biology of theropod dinosaurs
Honskus, Adam ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Řezníček, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis hes summarised available data from morphology, anatomy, ecology, ethology, ontogeny and phylogeny of theropod representatives of the clade Dinosauria that are based on the recent results deriving from the application of modern scientific methods and technologies. Main methods are laser scanning, computed tomography, electron microscope analysis and virtual and physical model reconstruction. Application of these results have changed radically historical and dogmatic point of view on this fascinating group of dinosaurs that had ruled on the Earth for more than 150-million years. Monitoring of the Long-eared Owl (Asio otus) Population at the Town of Kladno Wintering Place
Ponikelská, Eliška ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Šmídová, Kateřina (referee)
My thesis deals with the study of the population of the Long-eared Owl (Asio otus) on a wintering place in Kladno - Kročehlavy. I mention numbers, arrivals and departures of the Long-eared Owl during the years 2013-2015 and the influence of abiotic factors on these results. I also deal with ringing and recoveries of these owls in the territory of Kladno. I verify the hypothesis of the influence of warm weather, rainfall and snow cover on the representation of small mammals and birds species in the diet of the Long-eared Owl in this thesis. In addition, my thesis is devoted to the analysis of methodology and species identification in food of the Long-eared Owl by skulls and pelvic bones. In my thesis, when determining the type of small mammals I deal with sexing of Common Vole (Microtus arvalis) and Wood Mouse (Apodemus sylvaticus) of the pelvic bones. According to bone fragments of the pelvis dominant representation of male Common Voles and Wood Mouse in a certain period of winter was investigated. On the basis of the obtained results I have compiled charts and tables and I have compared them with previous research from the years 2006 - 2012 in the same study area in Kladno - Kročehlavy. Keywords: Long-eared Owl (Asio otus), diet, weather, Common Vole (Microtus arvalis), Wood Mouse (Apodemus...

The bird ringing data used in this thesis come from the archive of the National Museum in Prague. The parts of the thesis are as follows:1) history of the ringing in the Czech Republic; 2) bird adaptation on the flight and migration; 3) control of the migration; 4) the data of the Long- eared owls ringed as the young birds in the nest (pulli); 5) the data of the Long - eared owls ringed as adults (ad), that were caught and checked during their wintering in the Czech Republic; 6) the recoveries of the Long- eared owls ringed by various European Bird Ringing Centres and found in the Czech Republic; 7) cause of the mortality of the Long eared owl;8) census of the Long - eared owl recoveries in the Czech Republic from 1934 till 2011 (appendix). Telemetric monitoring of the feral pigeon ( Columba livia f. domestica) population in the Prague streets Plzeňská and Mahenova
Šimánek, Jakub ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Peške, Lubomír (referee)
The thesis studies the quantity of feral pigeons (Columba livia f. domestica) and their daily activities in the locality of Smíchov in Prague. The research was focused on finding whether there is only one group of pigeons bound to the locality by daily activities connected to their consistent alimentary habits or whether there are two subgroups, one of them staying in the locality and the other one leaving to get food further from the city. A method of wing tags with further tracking and modern GPS telemetry was used for the research. A total of 10 birds was caught and marked by a wing tag and one subject was tracked by GPS telemetry. Using these methods, it was found that the pigeons are divided into two subgroups in the locality, one of them sticking to their overnight area even during the day and getting fed on garbage or by people and the other one leaving to get food on the fields 6km away from the city. In the sowing period, the whole group took part in leaving to get the food in the fields further from the city. Key words: feral pigeon, abundance, telemetry
Made of three dimensional teaching aids
Strnadová, Kristýna ; Řezníček, Jan (advisor) ; Novotný, Petr (referee)
This work deals with vertebrates bone preparation of birds and mammals to enrich the science classes at secondary school. It also expands the collection of vertebrate skeletons at the department of biology and enviromental studies. The display would be enriched by Talpa europea, apodemus sylvaticus, rattus rattus, alectoris rufa and skulls of octodon degus. In this work there are described ways how to prepare taxidermy and bone preparation is described from the beginning of collecting vertebrates, then methods of preparation (maceration, hot water maceration, dermestidae bettles and more) including degreasing and bleaching and final treatment not the get it damaged by insect. This work is completed by survey. There are involved teachers of biology at elementary schools. The idea of questionnaire was to find out what's equipment like and how often do teachers use nature products to enrich the lessons. Key words - taxidermy, osteological preparation, birds, mammals
