History of the Jewish community in Bohemia and Moravia after World War II (1945-1956)

Author of the presented thesis deals with a theme which has been moreless neglected by modem Czech historiography, fortunes ofthe Jewish community in Bohemia and Moravia after World War II. Work is defined by a time horizon of the years 1945 - 1956 and divided in following chapters. Chapter I depicts the period following directly after the liberation of Czechoslovakia in 1945 to the year of 1948, when the communists came to power. This era is characterised by the effort for the quickest comeback ofthe prewar workings of Jewish religious society. Besides the primary difficulties with building of new life it mainly entails the matters of property ríghts. Years between 1948 and 1956, which are the subject of chapter II, are characterized by transformation of the attitude towards Jewish community and antisemistic tendencies of the governing power, that in the end led to the famous trials of the 50's (mainly in the show-trial known under the name of Slánský and others). As a part of this chapter there is a reconstruction of the activities and working of The Council of J ewish Religious Congregations in Bohemia and Moravia and the relations between ČSR and Israel in the time observed. Domnívám se, že v zásadě je možný trojí přístup ke zkoumání toho, co samo sebe nazvalo "sametovou (něžnou) revolucí". Značný a stále rostoucí počet autorů věnuje pozornost komparativní analýze pádu komunistických režimů ve středovýchodní Evropě roku 1989. Největší předností komparací, které nebývají založené na archivním bádání, je široký záběr mapující celý politický terén někdejší "jiné Evropy". Cena kvalitních studií - většinou politologické provenience - spočívá v neotřelých postřezích, v odhalování zajímavých analogií, totožností i rozdílů. Inspirativní i provokativní teze podněcují diskusi, vybízejí k souhlasné i nesouhlasné reakci. Vnášejí do ní novou terminologii, metodické inovace a interpretační hypotézy, které okysličují bádání založené výhradně na archivních pramenech.1 Zatímco komparativní analýza vychází z horizontální perspektivy, historické bilancování je založeno na perspektivě vertikální. Krouží kolem podstatných otázek souvisejících tak či onak se zlomovými body česko-slovenských dějin: ... 1918 - 1938 - 1939 - 1945 - 1948 - 1968 - 1989 - 1992 ... Meditace o "smyslu českých dějin" mají u nás silnou tradici, v současnosti však nemnoho osobností vládnoucích pronikavou silou vhledu do podstaty minulých dějů. "Moravian" hidden Church

The aim of the text is a description of the causes of creation, functioning and especially activities, of "Moravian" hidden Church. For these purposes 16 interviews were collected using oral history method. These interviews were analyzed through Grounded theory method. As the basic factors affecting the activity of "Moravian" hidden Church the analysis indicated: the degree of openness of activities and measure of their own individual initiative. The thesis consists of five chapters. The introduction presents state of research, described the sources from which it was drawn, it also presented the methodology and definitions based on the methodology. The second chapter introducesthe basic terms fundamental for conceptual point of view. The third chapter describes the context changes and trends within the Catholic Church in the twentieth century, chronologically, of course, it also describes the situation of the Catholic Church in communist Czechoslovakia. The fourth chapter in the first part deals with hidden Church phenomenon in Czech landsand then brings the history, specifics and characteristics of "Moravian" branches, including the integration process. Songster's association Šafrán

Hudba, jakožto významný prvek, jenž může ovlivňovat společenské mínění, se vždy musí potýkat se zájmem mocenských orgánů v jakémkoli autoritativním či totalitním státě. Touha svobodně tvořit a stvořené poté reprodukovat před posluchači, je totiž v naprosto příkrém protikladu s požadavky státu po všeobjímající kontrole jakékoli do veřejnosti zasahující sféry. Z této principiální neshody se nutně s hudbou dostává do příkrého konfliktu, jehož logickým vyústěním je pokus o její znásilnění a spoutání. Výsledek je jasný. Ovládnutí všech masmédií totalitním režimem a únik té, v pravém slova smyslu nejpůvodnější a z hlouby duše vyvěrající, hudby na samý okraj, do neoficiálních struktur. Ty skýtají jedinou možnost ji i nadále, bez kompromisů s mocí, provozovat. Předestřený vývoj lze demonstrovat na historii písničkářského sdružení Šafrán. Volné sdružení písničkářů Šafrán existovalo v sedmdesátých letech, tedy v době, kdy se již plně prosadil tzv. normalizační kurz nového vedení KSČ. Byl to kurz vedoucí k opětovnému podrobení si veřejného dění Komunistickou stranou Československa po určitých záblescích uvolnění z konce let šedesátých. Společnost si ve své většině nechala vnutit a nakonec si i osvojila tzv. společenskou smlouvu, ve které vyměnila svá práva občanská za určitý stupeň státem garantovaného blahobytu.1...

Electric Violin

The subject of my diploma thesis is design and realization of a five strings electric violin. This work builds on my theoretical diploma work named Development of the violin up to the present. The body of the violin is made of solid wood (beech) as same as the chin rest, fingerboard and bridge (walnut). The body is white coloured and varnished. In the left rib is placed el. sound output – 6.3 mm jack. The violin is equipped with piezo pickup Shadow SH SV1. Removable part of the violin is the shoulder rest. It has two support points.

On oral history and teaching history in classroom

The article examines the benefits and pitfalls of the use of oral history in history teaching at universities, secondary and elementary schools. Resume derives from the own pedagogical experiences and is also based on the experience gained from the activities within the Czech Oral History Association.
