Kalát, Ondřej ; Lukšů, David (advisor) ; Sekera, Martin (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the status and development of Czechoslovak sport journalism in daily newspapers between years 1918 and 1928. It is based on studies of five period newspapers - Národní listy, Lidové noviny, Národní politika, Právo lidu and České slovo. Given the paucity of original literature, these five printed materials are the main source of the analysis. The main aim of the thesis was to determine, how often and in which manner the journalists wrote about sport in that period and if the sports news became an inseparable part of newspaper in that period. One part of the analysis focuses on the people who wrote sport articles in those newspapers, if the sport journalism was their only specialization. It is also partly considered with the status of Czech sport photojournalism, sport advertising and reporting from the Olympic Games in that time. The opening three sections of the diploma thesis are mainly theoretical. The first one outlines the genesis of Czech sport journalism from its beginnings to the year 1918, when the profession became an independent branch of newspaper business. The second one describes the situation of Czech sport between years 1918 and 1928. And the third one characterizes the media situation in the Czechoslovakia in years 1918-1928, focusing on sports...

Chrudimské noviny - regional weekly and political changes 1938-1942
Baťa, Blahoslav ; Sekera, Martin (advisor) ; Cebe, Jan (referee)
The central theme of this project was the influence of political change on the contents of the regional weekly Chrudimske noviny published from the beginning of 1938 to October of 1942. Above all I have observated its manifestation in the main political article using content and language analysis as a method of my work. Firstly I outlined political, economical and social situation of the period. I also reffered to the censorship and media legislation influential to the work of journalists and to the establishment, organization and background of the weekly as well as persons who had influenced its contents. The main analysis was divided into the three main parts in accordance with three historical periods determined by distinctive political regimes (January 1938- September 1938, October 1938 - 15th March 1939, March - October 1942). As body of texts for the analysis itself served the most significant publisher policy expressing text in the examined periodical - the editorial. I started the analysis by defining several most significant areas covered by the weekly in each above mentioned period (eg. problem of nationhood, the czech-german relations, defense policy, local election...) and by narrowing down the editorials dealing with one of these topics.
