Selected localities of Prague for teaching biology and geology
Cibíková, Markéta ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Drda Morávková, Alena (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the most important Prague locations that are suitable for biological and geological excursion. Very important is practical teaching biology and geology. It is desirable that students understand the processes of ancient geological history, that they have seen with their own eyes preserved fossils and that they know how plants and animals which are integral part of teaching biology look like. In this point of view the theoretical teaching in the classrooms is insufficient. In the work is included biological and geological characteristics of selected sites aimed at their geologicla formation, rock, fossils, plants and animals that are found there. Itinerary for each excursion should be designed. There are links to worksheets made by methodical portal RVP which are the part of my work. Short introduction of teaching biology and geology in foreign countries and their access to excursion is presented as well. This thesis was designed for teachers of biology and geology to make preparations of their own excursions easier.
Thematic Unit "Development of Nature" in the Context of Biology Curriculum and Requierements of the Framework Education Programme for Grammer Schools
Šlechtová, Anna ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Markoš, Anton (referee)
The submitted work constitutes an elaboration of a thematic unit "Development of nature" designed for grammar schools in both expert and methodical aspect. Resulting outputs are a web presentation, two short educational films and two elaborated tutorial programmes based on E-U-R model of teaching. For better understanding and orientation in the curriculum, the look into the past is divided into four zooms: 1) in the scale of milliards, it includes the period from the origin of the Earth until the present; 2) in the scale of millions, it brings closer the Fanerozoicum; 3) in the scale of hundreds of thousands years, it covers the Qarternary era; 4) in the scale of thousands, it corresponds to the Holocene. Elaboration of this thematic unit is tied together with the ongoing school reform. It takes into account the incorporation of Geology educational field into the Framework Education Programme for Grammar Schools and works with key competencies.
Cross-Curricular Subjects chosen for biology education.
Čermák, Martin ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Janštová, Vanda (referee)
Bachelor thesis is literature search. It compares cross-curricular subjects in the Czech Republic with other neighbouring countries (Germany, Austria, Poland, and Slovakia). As the source of information were not used scholarly articles but also school education programmes of countries. Cross-curricular subjects offer an opportunity to connect most or all school subjects. Themes which mainly cross Biology are analyzed in detail. Cross-curricular subjects in the Czech Republic are provided only marginally.
Botanical garden of Czech Republic selected for teaching process
Nováková, Eliška ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Mourek, Jan (referee)
Presented thesis is focused on selected botanical gardens in the Czech Republic and their benefits for schools and school teaching. Today, botanical gardens are frequently visited for educational purposes and also for relaxation of people. It is important that teachers know that teaching is not possible to realize only in the school environment. Botanical gardens are an ideal place to make practical biological excursions. According to FEP, it is necessary to teach botany in school. It is important that students know how the plant looks, in which community plant lives and which benefits it has for humans. The expected outcomes mentioned above are important and botanical gardens help with their fulfilling. In my thesis I describe the possibilities that are offered and realized by botanical gardens for school excursions.

The submitted work constitutes an elaboration of a thematic unit "Development of nature" designed for grammar schools in both expert and methodical aspect. Resulting outputs are a web presentation, two short educational films and two elaborated tutorial programmes based on E - U - R model of teaching in the theoretical framework of constructivism. Toxic plants in teaching of biology at secondary schools
Riegelová, Marta ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Chlebounová, Irena (referee)
This diploma thesis is dedicated to teaching botany, and is focused namely on lessons concerning toxic plants. The first part deals with creating of worksheets for secondary school students for field trip into Botanic Garden of Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague. The second part compares effectiveness of classical lesson and the field trip. Students of the first grades from four secondary schools (grammar schools) were divided into two groups. The first group was taught by classic conventional teaching in classroom (control group) and the second group (experimental) was taken for the field trip to the Botanic Garden of Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague. The effectiveness of education was measured by means of a knowledge test before the lesson (pre-test) and after it (post-test). Level of knowledge increased in experimental groups and control groups, however, the difference between individual groups was not significant. Key words: toxic plants, botanical garden, field trips, worksheets, knowledge testing
An Interdisciplinary Approach to Teaching the Mammals
Prušvicová, Alena ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Mourek, Jan (referee)
Diploma thesis deals with an interdisciplinary based teaching approach in biology, specifically the thematic unit of mammals. The theoretical part examines the difference between inter- and subject-specific curriculum, as well as historical perspective of the issues, not least are given options of how integrated learning can occur. In the chapter "Options of integrated curriculum" a brief characterization of the project teaching is presented and compared with the integrated teaching. The practical part deals with an experimental teaching of two classes at the upper secondary school Postupická. The effectiveness of teaching was evaluated by questionnaires and a semi-structured interview.
Use of Botanical Garden of faculty of science Charles University in Prague in teaching biology and natural history
Nováková, Eliška ; Rajsiglová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Radka (referee)
This diploma thesis is focusing on use of Botanical garden of Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague by teachers as a destination for class field trips. Teachers use this garden with different objectives and different intensity. This diploma thesis provides a summary of this using by the processing of the survey, which took place in elementary school teachers and high school teachers. This work is testing the following hypotheses: 1. Teachers with length of practice above twenty years use the field trip less than teachers with length of practice under twenty years. 2. Men use guided tours more than women. 3. High school teachers use geopark for tour more than elementary school teachers. 4. Teachers with length of practice above twenty years visit gardens other than Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague and the Botanical Garden in Prague Troja less than teachers with length of practice under twenty years. The thesis summarizes basic information about the field trip as an organizational form.
