Précis querying over relational data
Štuller, Július ; Kopecký, Michal (referee) ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (advisor)
Free form of querying a database belongs among basic methods of text processing. In the past, a number of attempts appeared to use this style of querying also over a relational database (e.g. system BAROQUE [3] in 80ties). Authors of [1] introduce a new technique of a free querying, in which complex queries in SQL over a relational database are automatically generated. As an answer they provide more relations than one as it is usual in relational database languages. User preferences are considered, e.g. according to his/her profile. The goal of thesis is to design and implement a prototype of a system that offers such functionality on the top an existing relational DBMS.
Webmining
Ljubopytnov, Vladimír ; Húsek, Dušan (referee) ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (advisor)
This thesis focuses on mapping latest knowledge in the area of web mining with emphasis on document clustering. Most attention is given to the DOC projective clustering algorithm, a modification is presented for data with weighted dimensions. Algorithm is used for web search engine result clustering. Also, a clustering package with Google interface and phrase evaluation tool is implemented.
Relační přístup k indexaci
Prukl, Antonín ; Skopal, Tomáš (referee) ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (advisor)
In order to achieve efficient evaluation of SQL queries, database systems provide its users with set of integrated index access methods. When a new access method is required for various reasons, one of the possibilities to implement such method in a relational DBMS is the way of exploiting relational tables of given database system. This approach does not involve any internal changes of database system kernel and thus it is available to all developers even when the target DBMS is not distributed as an open source. In the terms of extensible database architecture, only the availability to extend existing DBMS with a new data type is required. In this work, UB-Tree index has been integrated into Oracle DBMS in such way. Index related tables have been designed in two different ways and four alternatives to evaluate relevant queries have been proposed and studied. Finally, several experiments have been done to compare performance of an access method implemented via the relational approach and a native kernel integration of the same method.
Methods for finding best answer with different user preferences
Eckhardt, Alan ; Vojtáš, Peter (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (referee)
User preferences are one of new aspects in informatics, e.g. in domain of semantic web. This work tries to cover the whole problematic of user preferences, their modeling, various aspects of generating user preferences and their evaluation. It also studies the area of group decision and finding answer that suits all members of group. Next part follows the paper of Ronald Fagin, Amnon Lotem, Moni Naor about the top-k algorithm. The new independent system for the top-k algorithm is presented, some implementations of this algorithm are tested and the influence of modules of algorithm on the speed and the number of rows are studied.
The motor and cognitive consequences of inborn cerebellar degeneration and some possibilities how to influence it
Křížková, Alena ; Vožeh, František (advisor) ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (referee) ; Mareš, Jan (referee)
The motor and cognitive consequences of inborn cerebellar degeneration and some possibilities how to influence it The cerebellum is traditionally considered to be a coordinator of movements and equilibrium and a regulator of muscular tone. Participation of the cerebellum on the motor learning has been discovered later. Besides that, there is increasing experimental and clinical evidence supporting the idea of an important role of the cerebellum in common cognitive functions. Increasing number of experimental works - especially those on animals - demonstrate an effect of the the cerebellum on the memory and different types of learning. A suitable model to study the cerebellar degeneration are Lurcher mutant mice. During their lives, there is a progressive loss of Purkinje cells followed by a loss of granular cells and inferior oliva neurons. We concentrated on the following problems in this work: - development of motor learning and topical motor skills during the first month of life - positive and negative changes in NO synthesis and subsequent effect on discriminative learning - effect of administration of MK-801(non-competitive antagonist of NMDA receptors) on discriminative learning of Lurcher mutants and wild mice derived from two strains (C3H and C57B1/7). Lurcher mutants and wild mice were put in motor...

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA) represent the most common forms of musculosceletal disorders that affect diarthrodial joints, lead to joint damage and disability. Extra-articular manifestations accompanied the joint disease only in RA. Diagnosis of both conditions most commonly bears on the conventional radiography. Mostly in OA, radiographic changes often occur late in the disease and are largely irreversible. Molecular markers could reflect joint damage, inflammation, or immune response. Current investigation revealed potential uses of molecular markers, ranging from understanding pathogenesis of the diseases to predicting and monitoring the outcome of the treatment. The aim of the thesis was to analyze several biochemical markers in serum, synovial fluid and synovial tissue samples from patients with RA and OA. and to evaluate their diagnostic and predictive values as well as their contribution to the pathogenesis of the diseases. We found increased serum pentosidine concentrations in OA patients that were ol a predictive value of the joint space narrowing in OA of the knee joint and correlation between pentosidine and cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) in synovial fluid that make pentosidine one of the new potential biomarkers of the OA. Scrum level of COMP was similar among...
RDF querying
Dokulil, Jiří ; Vojtáš, Peter (referee) ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (advisor)
The RDF is one of the basic technologies of the Semantic Web. It is a language describing resources on the web. It de nes the format and semantics of such data but does not provide query capabilities. The aim of this thesis is to create system capable of querying RDF data. We have created a partial implementation of the SPARQL query language. The SPARQL standard is currently being developed by the W3C Consorcium. We have chosen the Oracle relational database to store the RDF data. The proposed database schema allows us to evaluate SPARQL queries by translating them into SQL queries. The proposed methods have been tested on a large set of RDF data. We have created several examples of SPARQL queries, translated them to SQL, and measured the evaluation time of the translated queries. Afterwards, factors with negative impact on the evaluation speed have been analyzed. We have proposed two ways of improving the evaluation times based on this analysis, implemented one of them, and measured its e ffects.
Alternative Problem Solving for Delinquency
Pokorný, Jaroslav ; Mottlová, Jana (advisor) ; Bajcura, Lubomír (referee)
The thesis here being displayed is concerned theoretic definitions of the juvenile delinquency's causes from the special pedagogy's and relative sciences point of view and it investigates the forms of solution of this problem within the Czech criminal law and justice system. The thesis is comparing these mentioned theoretic definitions with the qualitative research results that was proceeded as a comparative case study on the youngsters-clients of The Probation and Mediation Service in the district of Pardubice city. The thesis is based on the mentioned research and it is verifying the validity of the theoretic juvenile delinquency factor conceptions and it is assessing the effects of the community sanctions and measures that are meant for delinquent youngsters.
Information filtering in XML documents
Pilátová, Michaela ; Pokorný, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Kopecký, Michal (referee)
With a growing amount of information available on the Internet and by other technologies, there is a growing need to distribute data to individua/ users as fast as possible - and only to those who are interested. Publish-subscribe systems allow users to specify their interes/s using profi/es created with an appropriate query language, thus order receiving required information from all available sources contributing to the syslem. The XML language nowadays belongs to the most important standards used for data exchange. This thesis deals with publish-subscribe systems working with data in XML data forma!. Methods of effective filtration of XML data and general techniques used in publish-subscribe systems for delivery of pertinent data to users are discussed there. Also, a prototype of a simple publish-subscribe syslem working with XML - Xm/Part - is implemented. A couple of techniques connected to information delivery is implemented and tested using this syslem on real data. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
