Description of Slava, family feast, it's origins, functions and role in the Serbian society

Creating Yugoslav identity with the help of construction modernist monuments
Chlebovská, Markéta ; Žíla, Ondřej (advisor) ; Otčenášek, Jaroslav (referee)
This master's thesis examines the shaping of the collective Yugoslavian identity after World War II, utilizing the construction of post-war socialist monuments. The thesis outlines the relationship between monuments and memory politics of the state, focusing on the critical period of modernist memorial construction in the 1960s and 70s. At that time, the monuments were part of an ideological program that sought to create an official interpretation of war events to gain control over society. The thesis includes the historical context, which describes the development in the construction of monuments from the end of World War II to the disintegration of Yugoslavia. It examines the extent to which the monuments were linked to tourism, leisure, and spirituality, as well as the role of the veteran organization S(U)BNOR. Part of the research is devoted to places that did not resonate with the official narrative. All of the above is then demonstrated on specific examples in Serbia: Kragujevac, Niš, Kruševac, Kosmaj and Kadinjača.
Onomatopoiec Words in Albanian
Křížková, Anna ; Backus Borshi, Orkida (advisor) ; Otčenášek, Jaroslav (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with onomatopoeia in Albanian. The theoretical part is devoted to a thorough explanation of the concept of onomatopoeia and individual areas in which onomatopoeia can be encountered both in spoken and written form. Due to the lack of materials on Albanian onomatopoeia, we worked mainly with Czech or foreign materials, whose theories can be applied across languages. We also deal with a chapter on music, which we consider to be one of the most crucial areas of onomatopoeia and which explained us many facts. The aim of the bachelor's thesis was to create a sample of a hundred words of sound-painting character in Albanian, which we subsequently analyzed in the practical part. Our sample is also supplemented by Czech equivalents, which may not always be sound-painting. But it was crucial for us to find sound-painting words in Albanian. We approached the selection of words in our sample of words by the method of random selection from the Czech-Albanian dictionary, but also from the Albanian explanatory dictionary, which served as a replacement for the non-existent Albanian corpus. At the beginning of our work, we hypothesized that we will probably find the most onomatopoeic words in the group of interjections, which we then refuted in the practical part, and we consider this...
Acheology in the service of national uprisings in Croatia and Bosnia and Hercegovina
Dvořáčková, Soňa ; Žíla, Ondřej (advisor) ; Otčenášek, Jaroslav (referee)
Archaeology is one of the scientific disciplines that are very easily subject to trends in societal discourse. The researchers themselves are more or less interested in adapting their interpretations of archaeological sources to the current social climate. We know from the past that the archaeology had to be adjusted according to a specific political task. In the past, archaeology has come to defend various nationalistic claims, especially territorial ones. My bachelor thesis is a case study from the South Slavic area. On a case of the so- called Bosnian pyramids and the interpretation of early medieval Croatian burial grounds, I am showing that archaeology is still applicable to national requirements in the conditions of an unstable socio-political situation.

Performative Aspects in the Works of the Novi Sad Neo-Avant-Garde in 1960's and 1970's
Novák, Jiří ; Mikušiak, Igor (advisor) ; Otčenášek, Jaroslav (referee)
(in English): This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of constitution and artistic initiative of the so-called Novi Sad Neo-avantgarde generation in the 1960s and 1970s and emphasizes the performativeness of their activities. Vojvodina, with its tradition of multiculturalism and its centre in Novi Sad, same as the international socio-political climate of the 1960s created an environment for the art and social expression of the new generation of artists who stood out against the prevailing modernist discourse in culture and the bureaucratization and institutionalization of cultural activities of that time. The most radical demands for the democratization of culture culminated between years 1968-1972 and came from the cultural and artistic circles in Novi Sad, which were formed mainly around the cultural centre "Tribina mladih" and the literary magazines "Polja" and Hungarian-language "Új Symposion". Based on primary and secondary sources, the thesis analyses and summarizes the basic research and perception of this period and the specifics of individual artistic expressions of this so-called "Other Line".
