Ideal of male beauty for adolescents
Slavíčková, Barbora ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Myšková, Lucie (referee)
in English Beauty is an abstract concept, which extends into many specific areas of our lives. We assess it individually and subjectively. I'll try to use this work to explore how adolescents perceive and evaluate the beauty. It will focus on the ideal of male beauty. I am interested in major differences between the ideals of girls and of boys and will try to find out which areas of beauty are important for them a which are not. My target group are ninth grade students of elementary school aged between 14 and 15 years. The thesis has two parts. The first part is theoretical, in which I point out the importance of self conception in relation to adolescent age and physical appearance. Then I will describe and explain the importance of individual parts of the body and face. Subsequently I will also interpret basic theories of perception in relation to social perception. The second, practical part will present specific ideals of male beauty designed by girls and boys. I will introduce different ideals by different ways of view and try to interpret differences between girlish and boyish images of male ideals.
Mental development of children with low birth weight
Švandová, Lucie ; Ptáček, Radek (advisor) ; Fischer, Slavomil (referee) ; Myšková, Lucie (referee)
Introduction: There is a high prevalence of cognitive and socioemotional dysfunction and disorders in very low birth weight (VLBW <1500 g) and extremely low birth weight (ELBW <1000 g) children. These findings raise concerns and questions about the level of mental development of these children, not only in early childhood but also during school age, adolescence and adulthood. Methods: Socioemotional and cognitive development was assessed in 118 children with VLBW or ELBW and 101 children with normal birth weight (≥ 2 500 g), aged 5 to 9 years. The test battery contained selected subscales from the Intelligence and Development Scales (IDS) and the Developmental Neuropsychological Assessment - second edition (NEPSY-II). Parents were administered Behaviour Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF), and an anamnestic interview as well as observation was also conducted. Results: A statistically significant difference in cognitive and socioemotional development between children with VLBW/ELBW and children with normal birth weight. The IQ score of children with normal birth weight was on average 12.98 points higher. These children also perform better results than children with VLBW/ELBW in all subtests of the IDS and NEPSY-II. Parents did not evaluate impaired executive function. Conclusion: Among...

Henyšová, Žaneta ; Myšková, Lucie (advisor) ; Presslerová, Pavla (referee)
Reflections of an adolescent's own future may contribute to its future direction. The concept of one's own family occupies an important position in these reflections and, to a certain extent, determines their form. Individuals from institutional care have disrupted original family ties, which are supposed to negatively affect their own family concepts. The diploma thesis is based on a qualitative methodological approach. The family concepts of individuals both from institutional care and regular family environment are investigated under the light of individuals' future orientations. The semi-structured interview and projective graphical methods were assigned to six individuals from institutional care and six individuals from regular family environment. A qualitative analysis of the data gathered confirmed that the concepts of a planned family of adolescents from institutional care differ from those of teens from the regular family environment. Adolescents from institutional care lack the emotional aspect of the family, and the family is perceived primarily as an institution serving to protect its members. Moreover, gender aspects are more pronounced in their family concepts, especially in parental roles, than in adolescents from the control group. Differences between groups are also found in other...
