Úvod: U dětí s velmi nízkou porodní hmotností (VNPH, < 1 500 g) a extrémně nízkou porodní hmotností (ENPH, < 1 000 g) je zvýšená prevalence kognitivních a socioemočních oslabení a poruch. Tato zjištění vzbuzují obavy a otázky týkající se úrovně mentálního vývoje těchto dětí, a to nejen v raném dětství, ale také v období školního věku, dospívání a dospělosti. Metody: Socioemoční a kognitivní vývoj byl hodnocen u 118 dětí s VNPH nebo ENPH a 101 dětí s normální porodní hmotností (≥ 2 500 g) ve věku 5 až 9 let. Testová baterie obsahovala vybrané subtesty z Inteligenční a vývojové škály (IDS) a z Developmental Neuropsychological Assessment II (NEPSY-II). Rodičům byla administrována Škála hodnocení exekutivních funkcí u dětí (BRIEF), proběhl anamnestický rozhovor a pozorování. Výsledky: Mezi dětmi s VNPH/ENPH a dětmi s normální porodní hmotností byl zjištěn statisticky významný rozdíl v kognitivním i socioemočním vývoji. IQ dětí s normální porodní hmotností bylo v průměru o 12,98 bodu vyšší. Taktéž dosahovaly lepších výsledků než děti s VNPH/ENPH ve všech subtestech metod IDS i NEPSY-II. Rodiče u svých dětí nehodnotili oslabení v oblasti exekutivních funkcí. Závěr: U dětí s VNPH/ENPH ve věku 5 až 9 let ukázaly výsledky v porovnání s dětmi s normální porodní hmotností oslabení v kognitivní a socioemoční... Introduction: There is a high prevalence of cognitive and socioemotional dysfunction and disorders in very low birth weight (VLBW <1500 g) and extremely low birth weight (ELBW <1000 g) children. These findings raise concerns and questions about the level of mental development of these children, not only in early childhood but also during school age, adolescence and adulthood. Methods: Socioemotional and cognitive development was assessed in 118 children with VLBW or ELBW and 101 children with normal birth weight (≥ 2 500 g), aged 5 to 9 years. The test battery contained selected subscales from the Intelligence and Development Scales (IDS) and the Developmental Neuropsychological Assessment - second edition (NEPSY-II). Parents were administered Behaviour Rating Inventory of Executive Function (BRIEF), and an anamnestic interview as well as observation was also conducted. Results: A statistically significant difference in cognitive and socioemotional development between children with VLBW/ELBW and children with normal birth weight. The IQ score of children with normal birth weight was on average 12.98 points higher. These children also perform better results than children with VLBW/ELBW in all subtests of the IDS and NEPSY-II.
