Established phrasal idioms from the field of music in contemporary French

This bachelor thesis is devoted to the analysis of established phrases in French with an focus on the field of music. The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter deals with phraseology and includes its historical development, interdisciplinary aspects and terminology related to this field. The second chapter focuses on different perspectives and approaches of authors to phraseology. It presents different theoretical approaches of selected authors engaged in this discipline. The third chapter briefly describes the connection between music, language and linguistics. The practical part of this bachelor thesis concentrates on the definition and description of selected established phrases in the field of music. Within this chapter, dictionary definitions of the selected terms are included. Adverbials conveying negative accompanying circumstance in Czech and in French

The aim of this thesis is to compare the expression of negative accompanying circumstances in French and Czech. The first step is to define the negative accompanying circumstance as such and the forms of its expression. In the French language, we will focus especially on the construction sans + infinitive and on its possible translation equivalents in Czech. The basis of the practical part is the analysis of the French-Czech and Czech-French parallel corpus InterCorp v14. The aim of the analysis is to determine the equivalents of the French construction sans + infinitive in Czech, focusing on their morphosyntactic characteristics and the characteristic of the negative accompanying circumstance. The qualitative analysis will be complemented by a reverse analysis of basic Czech translation equivalents back into French. Arabisms in French from 1900 to 2022

The aim of the thesis is to define the influence of the Arabic language on French from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. The theoretical part focuses on the historical and sociolinguistic context of Arabisms in French, the issue of loanwords from foreign languages and lexicological terminology. In the empirical part, Arabisms whose etymology is dated between 1900 and 2022, according to the Le Petit Robert dictionary, will be examined. Using corpus tools, the frequency and occurrence of selected words in French and Francophone contexts will be verified, in order to evaluate the research results from the point of view of semantic fields and usage in the analyzed written media. Analysis of the Occitan language in its regional form Nissart

(in English) The aim of this work is to analyse the dialect of the Occitan language in its regional form Niçart. Here we will focus on the issue of the relationship of the Occitan dialect to society and also on historical development. The first part of the theoretical work will generally define the Occitan dialect Niçart. In the second part we will focus on sociolinguistic analysis. The aim is to record the socio-cultural relationship to the Occitan language. The research itself will be interspersed with questionnaires and interviews, which will serve as additional comparative material for the analysis of the Occitan dialect.
Reformulation discourse markers and their functions in contemporary French

This master thesis deals with the theme of reformulation discourse markers, especially with the different functions these markers can fulfill in contemporary spoken French. The theoretical part of the thesis clarifies the term "discourse marker" and defines more precisely the term "reformulation discourse marker". This part also exposes various typologies of the reformulation discourse markers already proposed by other linguists. Moreover, in this part of the thesis, attention is paid to the reference to spoken, mostly French, language and describes its specifics in detail. Consequently, the empirical part draws from two different linguistic corpora to analyze the occurrences of various reformulation discourse markers. The first corpora, named YouTube, contains transcriptions of semi-spontaneous monological speeches belonging to the informal language register (popular or familiar). The second one, called Europarl, is also composed of semi-spontaneous monological speeches, this time being part of the formal (substandard) language register. The perception of regionalisms in French general dictionaries

The bachelor thesis deals with the grasp of regionalisms in general dictionaries of the French language and their perception in France. The theoretical part endeavours to define the term regionalism within the scope of lexicography and linguistics generally. Based on the gained and investigated data, we will try to define our own typology of regionalism, which is applied to the empirical part of the thesis. The empirical part focuses mainly on the description of regionalisms through lexicographical research in France and it aims to classify regionalisms according to their occurrence and grasp within the selected dictionaries. The research also deals with the representation of the regionalisms in specific regions in France. Next, the thesis consists of socio-linguistic research which takes the form of a questionnaire, which is designed for native speakers, i.e., respondents from France.
Gender fluctuation of chosen French nouns

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the variation of grammatical gender on a sample of selected French inanimate nouns ending in -e and on the neologism covid. The first, theoretical part of the thesis defines the issue of nominal gender from a general point of view, based on work with grammars and scholarly works. The second, empirical part will focus on the analysis of selected nouns, in particular on the observation of factors influencing variation, such as frequency or word origin. The research will be carried out on the monolingual French corpora FRANTEXT, L'Est Républicain, Araneum Francogallicum Maius and Scientext as well as on selected dictionaries. French loanwords concerning the field of artisanal baked goods and confectionery used in Czech

The thesis deals with French loanwords from the field of artisanal baking and confectionery used in Czech. The theoretical part explores in more detail the concept of linguistic borrowings in general, in order to synthesize the knowledge of this phenomenon, which will be further developed in the second part of the thesis. It also specifies the history of the pastry and baking industry in France and in the Czech Republic. The aim of the practical part of the thesis is to determine the manner and form of use of selected loanwords from this field among native Czech speakers, with emphasis not only on the frequency of their use, but also on phonetic specifics related to their pronunciation. For this purpose, a sociolinguistic research in the form of a questionnaire and an interview is used.
French language and their specificities on the territory of French Guiana

French Guiana is an overseas territory of France situated in South America. Owing to the presence of Indian, Creole or Asian language families, Guiana is really linguistically interesting. This bachelor thesis primarily deals with specifics of the variety of French language, in spoken and written form, employed on the territory of French Guiana. This overseas department of France is very attractive because of their plurilingualism and all these languages influence the local variety of French. On the basis of a sociolinguistic survey I compare the local variety with the variety of French language employed in Metropolitan France. The survey is divided into 3 major parts, each one focusing on one linguistics discipline : semantics of words, lexicology and pragmatic. For the survey, I also created corpus of words which compares their sense in each variety. I found as well the words of corpus in 6 dictionaries to show their preferences of one variety. The thesis contains the theoretical part and practical part, empiric as well, which is a sociolinguistic survey mentioned above. Anglicisms in contemporary French used by the so-called Z generation

The thesis deals with the occurrence of anglicisms used by the so-called generation Z in the contemporary French language. The theoretical part provides a general look into the theme of loanwords in general and afterwards it is specifically focused on anglicisms. This part also provides a brief overview of history influence on English and French language and as well as their mutual influence on each other. Subsequently, a relatively specific position of anglicisms in the contemporary French and classification of loanwords in the linguistic field are presented as well. The practical part is based on the data obtained from the social networks, blogs, and other on-line platforms. It studies the anglicisms used by the French influencers belonged to the so-called generation Z, it also compares their spoken and written language shared on the Internet.
