Psychological Aspects of Atopic Eczema in Children and Adolescents

This master thesis focuses on atopic eczema in children and adolescents from a psychological perspective. The aim of this text is to describe and emphasize the psychological aspects of this disease and characterize the areas it may concern and affect. Regarding the structure, the thesis is divided into three parts. The introductory theoretical part is focused on a description of the explored subject-matter, the aim was to submit a comprehensive perspective on this disease and outline a relevant psychological basis for the empirical enquiry. The second empirical part is focused on the intrinsic aspects of the experience of this disease in children and adolescents. The quantitative research was designed to map out the specific phenomena, incidence of depressive symptoms and family upbringing style. The quantitative research is complemented by a qualitative inquiry with the aim to get further into depth of the issue by means of two case studies. These were focused on the overall experience related to the diagnosis of atopic eczema. The final part reflects acquired findings and the conclusive discussion summarizes the results of the exploratory assumptions including the limits and the possibilities of future psychological work with this disease. Dynamics of Aspiration Level during Achieving More Demanding Goals

This bachelor thesis deals with a to this day very briefly studied topic of aspirations and their dynamics when achieving more demanding goals. From the scope of the thesis' structure, the text is divided into five theoretic chapters and an empirical one presenting the design of the research. The first part of the thesis is preoccupied with the outline of the aspirations problem, the description of basic terms, the history of the scientific research in this field and with the motivational tendencies to succeed and to avoid failure in general. A major part of the text is dedicated to the level of aspiration theory. The structure of the aspiration levels is depicted, so as their settings, possible modifications and studies that have dealt with this issue. The next chapter deals with the impact of aspiration on achieving goals, factors that determine the level of aspiration and changes in self-perception. The fifth and final chapter in the theoretic part contains chosen findings from the field of sport psychology and other applied disciplines related to the aspiration phenomenon. The core of the subsequent empirical section is the design of a study from the field of sport psychology.
Stress as an adaptive mechanism and a cultural construct

This Bachelor's dissertation concerns a stress issue. There is a big effort to create a complete insight into this phenomenon from many points of view, which consider natural and social sciences. This thesis is structurally divided into four parts, rather four points of view, where each part contains a small conclusion. The first part concerns biological perspective. Definition of stress, its history, also types and division of stress can be found there. Furthermore, there is a description of a physiological reaction and illnesses coming from stress. The second part is about a perspective of evolution and evolutionary psychology. The origin and function of adaptive mechanisms are concluded in this part as well as some of the essential adaptive problems. The next part searches for the cultural roles emphasizing some of the stressors. This chapter contains a list of the important phenomenons of the western culture and dealing with stress in a positive way. The final section of this bachelor's dissertation concerns stress as a cultural construct. The essence of that part is a description of a cultural position in the researches on stress.
