Electrical characterization of a unipolar transistor with a graphene channel

This work deals with basic properties of graphene, methods of its synthesis, doping, transfer, characterization and description of basic properties and fabrication of field-effect transistor with graphene channel. The practical part focuses on electrical characterization of a field-effect transistor with graphene channel. Concretely on measuring the channel resistance, its dependence on gate voltage, finding the Dirac point and determining the dependence of the channel conductivity on the annealing lenght. Lastly, the shift of the Dirac point and the change of the electrical properties of graphene during bending of a MEMS structure with a unipolar transistor with a graphene channel are investigated.

Solid-state Synthesis of Gold Nanoparticles on Dimpled Aluminum Surfaces and Their Transfer to Transparent Substrates

In this work, it is proposed a novel and cost-effective fabrication method for forming gold nanoparticle films on transparent substrates. The method involves fabrication of templated aluminium substrate by porous-type anodic oxidation of aluminium foils. Furthermore, a thin gold layer is deposited over and subsequently annealed which results into the gold nanoparticles formation. Additionally, it is proposed a transfer onto transparent substrates such as PDMS or PMMA. The goal of this research is to build a localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) sensor element with a high performance and low fabrication costs.

Vertically aligned CdS nanorod arrays for solar cell applications

This thesis describes the deposition of nanoparticles into nanoporous alumina templates. Nanoparticles of cadmium sulphide were chosen thanks to wide band gap of 2,45 eV. CdS is desired semiconductor promising better efficiency when comes to solar radiation conversion to useful energy. Theoretical part consists of explanation of photovoltaic principles, band-gap theory of materials, currently available technologies to manufacture solar cells and their efficiencies. Next part introduces the approaches of manufacturing nanoporous templates from aluminium (Anodized Aluminium Oxide, AAO) in details together with options to deposit cadmium sulphide into these structures. There is also brief description of deposition based on vacuum filtration. Experiments were made in Laboratory of Microsensors and Nanotechnologies at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication in Brno University of. The experimental chapter describes manufacturing process of AAO and deposition via vacuum filtration. Samples were evaluated by Scanning Electron Microscopy.

Fabrication and Characterization of Templates for Fabrication of Nanowires

The bachelor thesis is focused on fabrication of alumina templates by anodization of pure aluminium. The theoretical part discusses the growing process of anodized oxide layers and its dependency on the crucial parameters (solutions, anodization voltage, time). The theoretical part is particularly based on literature retrieval. The experimental part is aimed to the fabrication of alumina membranes: the apparatus design, aluminium foils preparation, aluminium anodization, membrane modifications for next applications (nanowires deposition) and membrane characterization.
