Traffic signs detection and recognition

The goal of this thesis is the utilization of computer vision methods, in a way that will lead to detection and identification of traffic signs in an image. The final application is to analyze video feed from a video camcorder placed in a vehicle. With focus placed on effective utilization of computer resources in order to achieve real time identification of signs in a video stream.

The goal of bachelor thesis is to analyse changes after appointment of Otakar Svoboda as director of South Czech Philharmonic. The analysis is based on expert interviews with director Otakar Svoboda, marketing director Kateřina Kyselová and painter Jiří Votruba as well as on annual reports, yearbooks and organizational orders. Thesis summarize most important changes in the fields of marketing communication, organizational structure of management and dramaturgy.
Unconventional monetary policy after the collapse of Lehman Brothers

This diploma thesis is focused on unconventional monetary policy tools that individual central banks introduced into practise as a response to the global financial crisis. It is about quantitative easing policy, foreign exchange interventions with exchange rate commitment and negative interest rates. This thesis also deals with classical tools of monetary policy such as open market operations, discount tools, minimum requirement reserve or foreign exchange interventions. The aim of the thesis is to document the development of central banks policy and then to examine relationship of selected assets in comparison with balance sheet of Federal reserve systems with help of correlation coefficient. The thesis also deals with the thought how should behave in the zero lower bound environment and what are the pitfalls of unconventional monetary policy.
Development of trading strategies based on technical analysis

This thesis has two main objectives. It attempts to describe the process of developing an intraday discretionary trading strategy based on technical analysis and to create through the process an intraday discretionary strategy for speculative trading of contracts for difference on the OTC market. The theoretical part of the thesis is divided into three chapters providing the necessary knowledge for creation of an intraday discretionary trading strategy in the practical part of the thesis. The emphasis is put on the description of different tools and methods technical traders usually use in their strategies. The development process of the strategy is divided into three parts which are Strategy Creation, Backtest and Optimization. These parts are further divided into smaller sections dealing with different issues of the strategy development process. The final outcome of the work is structured development process of discretionary trading strategies and also highly profitable intraday discretionary strategy for trading of Gold based contracts for difference.
Monetary policy of the Federal Reserve System in finantial and economic crisis of the 21. century

This bachelor thesis is focused on a monetary policy which was applied by the Federal Reserve System in a period of economic crisis which started in 2007. In the theoretical part of the thesis is mentioned the definition of monetary policy, its tools and facts about the Federal Reserve System. The thesis describes slightly the beginning of a crisis. Then there are described tools, especially tools for providing liquidity to the finantial sector and a communication with public. In a next part of the thesis there is described a quantitative easing, its principles, periods and impacts on a balance sheet of the Federal Reserve System. In the last part, there is analysed the influence of monetary policy on economy of the United States of America.
Inflation targeting in case of imminent deflationary pressures - the example of CNB

This diploma thesis focuses on the use of inflation targeting as monetary policy regime in a situation of imminent deflation. The thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part introduces the basic mechanism of inflation targeting with its basic elements and describes its possible failure. The second part focuses mainly on the analysis of the economic factors which contributed to achieving the zero lower bound for the repo rate of CNB. The third part presents an alternative (unconventional) monetary policy instruments in case of achieving zero lower bound, in particular the use of the exchange rate. The end of the last part of this thesis analyzes the development of key macroeconomic indicators in the Czech Republic.
Variants of determining the risk free rate in the business valuation

Thesis Variants of determining the risk free rate in the business valuation is dedicated to the issue of estimating risk free rate for the calculation of the discount rate. The objective of this work is to demonstrate the influence of methods to estimate the risk free rate to business valuation based on the example of a selected company valuation. The first part is dedicated to the cost of equity, cost of debt and weighted average cost of capital. Next chapter focuses on the definition of risk-free interest rate and rating as an indicator of credit risk. The thesis also deals with theoretical methods for estimating the risk-free interest rate and their practical application. Values calculated on the basis of theoretical approaches are then applied in the calculation of the discount rate to calculate the present value of the cash flows of company.

The analysis of relationship between corruption level and price level of infrastructure works

The thesis analyses the influence of corruption on infrastructure works prices. For that purpose, indicators based on Comparative price level indices issued by Eurostat and Corruption Perceptions Index by Transparency International are used. The method is a cross-sectional analysis of at least 20 European countries for 2007. NERV and Czech media have used the mentioned indicators to demonstrate overpricing of road construction in the Czech Republic. These indicators will be controlled for difference in labor and capital costs across countries, which affects the indicators through different production factor consumption in engineering works and other branches of construction. Significant correlation between corruption index and indicators of engineering works prices was found both in the unadjusted and adjusted form.
Influence of health care expenditures volume on public health

Abstrakt: Zdravotní stav populace a výdaje na něj vynaložené v současnosti jsou, a v budoucnosti bezesporu budou, jedněmi z nejostřeji sledovaných ukazatelů v lidském společenství. Těžištěm výzkumu této práce je porovnat výši výdajů plynoucích do zdravotní péče a zdravotní stav populace vybraného vzorku zemí. Analýza statistických dat odkryje, zda objem výdajů vede k lepšímu zdravotnímu stavu či nikoliv. Výzkum se opírá o veřejně přístupná, retrospektivní, statistická data referenčních států, jejichž porovnáním získám informace nutné k vyvození závěrů. Výsledek práce může dokázat, zda vyšší výdaje vedou k lepšímu zdravotnímu stavu populace či nikoliv a zda existuje výdajové optimum, nad které jsou výdaje čím dál méně efektivní. Analytická část obsahuje ekonomická a medicínská data vybraného vzorku dvanácti států, rozděleného na tři skupiny dle stupně rozvinutosti. V syntetické kapitole porovnám získaná data a vyvodím závěry položených hypotéz. Dále nastíním důvody akcelerující úrovně výdajů na zdravotní péči v USA a porovnám řadu ekonomických i medicínských ukazatelů s průměry zemí OECD. V závěru práce shrnu zjištěné výsledky a pokusím se nastínit optimální výši výdajů vzhledem k úrovni zdravotního stavu populace.
