This bachelor’s thesis deals with a project for a wharf in Brno-Bystrc on the Brno Dam. The space comprises a pier and single-story buildings, specifically, a restaurant, which is open year-round and a building which provides services for visitors: refreshments, public toilets, ticket sales, and facilities for employees. All elements, including access roads and paved areas, are integrated into a U-shaped area which opens onto the dam lake. A substantial difference in height between the access road and the marina allows visitors to enjoy the scenic view as they use the walkway connecting the roofs of the buildings. The same height difference also allows the staircase to function as seating for viewers of seasonal activities taking place on the square below. The urban planning and architectural design take into account the year-round popularity of the area. Both the outer and inner spaces attempt to comply with the requirements that are placed on this space in the organization of social activities such as viewing fireworks or public appearances. The design is also sensitive to visitors of all ages, tourists, cyclists, passengers, or in the winter season, skaters and skiers.
