Visual art in public space and focus on its presentation on selected periodicals in years 2005-2015 in the Czech Republic

The goal of this thesis is to introduce visual fine art in public space in Czech Republic. Introduction of this thesis is devoted to concept of art, concept of visual art and concept of public space. This thesis is a selection of the most important kinds of art and their approach. This thesis is depicting the development of art in the Czech public space, from the first half of the 20th century until today. Despite the fact that this art has gone a long way for over a century and during this time it has began to exploit the potential of new technologies, we can also track the tendency to repeat and return what we know from the past. I demonstrate the selection of the most interesting art instalations and events which could be ment as representants of these arts. The practical part of this thesis track the articles about visual fine art in public space in Czech Republic during the ten years in four weekly magazines - Reflex, Respekt, Instinkt and Týden.
The New York School Poets and Visual Arts: The Poetry of John Ashbery and Frank O'Hara

The New York School Poets and Visual Arts: The Poetry of John Ashbery and Frank O'Hara The poetry of the New York School poets is highly influenced by visual art; the poets, such as Frank O'Hara, John Ashbery, Kenneth Koch and John Schuyler, were affected mainly by Abstract Expressionism, Surrealism, Cubism and Dada. The reason why visual art had such a strong effect on their poetry is that the painters of the New York School dominated the art world, they set the trends, and poets and musicians followed them. Also, visual art played a major role in the lives of the poets as many of them were art critics and they often collaborated with the artists. The thesis focuses on two of the New York School poets, O'Hara and Ashbery, as the influence of visual art in their poetry is most prominent in comparison to the other New York School poets. O'Hara mainly uses the techniques of Abstract Expressionism and he is mostly interested in the art of Jackson Pollock. O'Hara's poems carry immediacy and they are based on the expression of the present moment. The focus on the present parallels with the techniques of action painting which channels the artist's self and emotions. Diploma thesis is survey into the relationship between art and sport. It searches new social elements, which can be used as an approach to art and physical education. Didactic part contains a suggestion, which has common issues for both art and physical education that can be used in school lessons.
Globalisation and Glocalization in Contemporary Media World on the Example of Advertising Campaign of Absolut Vodka

This thesis deals with advertising and its specifics characteristic for contemporary media environment. Research is realized on the example of five visual adverts which are parts of Absolut vodka advertising campaign. Absolut London, Absolut Brussels, Absolut Barcelona, Absolut Bangkok and Absolut Prague were chosen and conquered in the semiotics and visual analysis. The main part of the thesis is focused on character of adverts. The attention is also drawn to Mukařovský's aesthetics, Peirce's icon-index-symbol, Barthes's denotation, conotation, myth or theory of photography. There are mentioned not only qualities of imaging of objects but also its anchoring in the media environment. The results of the analysis are connected with processes of globalization. The principles of Ulrich Beck are applied to visual adverts of Absolut vodka. The main question is if and how the globalization influences the adverts and their visual form. It is shown at the example of internet and television media. One part of thesis is also devoted to phenomenon of glocalization and its influence on advertising.

Aesthetics of Camp

This thesis deals with the phenomenon of camp and its manifestations in modern western culture. The aim of this thesis is to indentify the signifiant features typical for camp as an aesthetic stance and for camp as an object. Attention is paid to the relationship of the camp and kitsch, and their differences and similarities. The relationship of camp to the high and low art or dandyism is also examined. The main text used for this thesis is an essay "Notes on Camp" by Susan Sontag.
