Not all dogs are alike: a cost-benefit analysis of guide and assistance dogs in the Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic the guide dogs for the blind are recognized as a compensation tool and may be reimbursed up to 100% of the cost; on the other hand, assistance dogs for people in a wheelchair, the deaf, deafblind, or other people with disabilities are not. This thesis explains the concepts of blind person and disabled person, and distinguishes among various types of service dogs. The costs and benefits of guide dogs on one hand, and of assistance dogs for people using a wheelchair on the other, are calculated and the results are compared; it is also examined, whether "favoring" guide dogs by means of providing government support on their acquisition is legitimate, and what it may be caused by. Further, the thesis calculates the maximum possible burden for the state budget if a support for assistance dogs is introduced. It also explores the possible effects of the impact of the introduction of this support on the markets for guide and assistance dogs, respectively.
Analysis of the Economic efficiency of the provision that should improve water quality in Macha´s Lake

Diploma thesis is focused on data evaluation of economic efficiency of provisions for impoving of water quality in Macha's lake. Data estimation of economic value of chase in water quality in Macha's lake were acquired during on-site research in the area. Choice Experiment was used for modelling of recreational demand. The base of Choice Experiment is coming out from Lancaster's Attribution theory and Random utility function. Data presentation and its acquiring is a part of the diploma thesis, there is also discussed the new findings and the base of neoclassical methodology of Cost-Benefit Analysis that is suitable for judging of economic efficiency of provisions that help improving water quality in The Macha's lake. Macha's lake is a signifiant recreational area. While deciding about long term solution of the problem of water quality it is necessary to judge efficiency of invested ressources. Estimations of changes in water quality in Macha's lake is going to be used for Cost-Benefit Analysis. Cost-Benefit Analysis is based on measuring costs and benefits and their comparisons and this Analysis is main scope of the thesis.
Application of financial economic rating system to evaluation of a chosen company

The evaluated company is ZOD Vacov. The aim of my diploma thesis was to establish the method of the financially-economical evaluation on a concrete company, which is convenient for the analysis of this company and is based on financial statements and calculation. Another aim of my thesis was to apply created method in practice and to analyse obtained data with regard to company´s next progress and to utility of suggested methodology.
Analysis of benefits and costs of implementation of data boxes from Czech firms´ point of view

This thesis focuses on issue of data boxes, specifically on their use by companies that operate on the Czech market. In the theoretical part, the data boxes are characterized as a whole. In this part there are also set costs and benefits that occurred with the introduction of information system data boxes. The core of the practical part is questionnaire which is directed at companies with issues regarding the introduction of data boxes and the associated costs or benefits - it is a verification of the hypotheses set out in the theoretical part, i.e., whether the companies actually realize any benefits and what costs ISDS brings them. The last part deals with possible future developments.
The evaluation of the effectiveness of the investment project in the public sector

The aim of this thesis is the evaluation of the effectiveness of the investment project in the public sector. Evaluation is based on C&B analysis, which is primarily intended for evaluating investments and interventions in the public sphere. Its aim is to give all the financial impacts of the project, whether positive or negative in order to evaluate the benefits arising from the implementation in relation to financial investments made in the project. The criterion for the success of these projects is not profit, but social benefits arising from them. The higher these benefits are, the greater is the efficiency of investment. The thesis is divided into three parts (excluding introduction and conclusion). The first section explains the important concepts that readers bring to the evaluation of investment efficiency in the public sector. In the second part contains the theoretical basis from which comes out the practical part. In her is then applied method of CBA and determined the final results.
Čipová karta jako elektronický identifikátor pojištěnce v ČR a EU.

This diploma work analytically examines data resources and conditions for the implementation of an electronic identifier for an insured person in the Czech Republic with relation to the Europian Union. It describes the concept of a single electronic identification method and the possibilities for the utilization of different technologies and extreme situations that may arise in connection with the deficiencies of the judicial code, that would clearly work manipulation with the personal data, its security and access to it. Here compared in this work are the merits and disadvantages of the implementation or adversely the non-implementation of the electronic identifier via a cost-benetfit analysis that gives an answer to the economic question about the implementation of the project, and also describes the benefits for each group of beneficiaries.
Creating a real estate agency portal

This dissertation thesis is focused at opportunities in real estate industry in connection with using internet based portal for real estate agencies. The thesis is based on Čestmír Kadlec's dissertation thesis which presents a methodology for creating real estate agencies portal. The main aim of this paper is to specify a concept of real estate agencies portal web pages according to methodology developed by Kadlec and evaluate required investment into development and operation the real estate agencies internet based portal. Firstly, theoretical part deals with information society, real estate market in the Czech Republic and how the evolution of information society influenced Czech real estate market in the past. Also the thesis contains description of real estate agency portals in the Czech Republic, their typology and a selection of a web portal for further analysis. The analysis of Sreality.cz contains a description of key processes and also description and fees of provided services. Practical part is focused at specification of real estate agencies web portal according to Kadlec's methodology which can be found in his dissertation thesis. Firstly, there is a description of real estate agencies portal as a system. Then there is an assessment how the proposed solutions meets the criteria specified by Kadlec, which the "ideal" web portal must have. In conclusion, the business case was prepared to Compaq the costs of development and operation of the portal and potential revenues according to competition market analysis. The outcome of the whole thesis is a recommendation whether the investment in the portal makes business sense.
Cost-Benefit analysis of Public Projects

Public projects are still subject of heated discussions, especially with the respect to their efficiency that is usually not sufficient enough. In spite of existence of many ways how to increase their efficiency, it is readily possible to identify one fundamental criterion which is high-quality information for decision-making. It is important to deliver high-quality information to those who make decision in order to reduce wastage of the public funds on not efficient public projects. All substantial information about effects incurred by project's realization can be offered by the Cost-Benefit analysis. The Cost Benefit analysis should be prepared for each significant public project to prevent from realization of ineffective ones. It is essential to process each Cost-Benefit analysis in required qualitative level for making right decision. Purpose of this thesis is appraisal of usefulness of the Cost-Benefit analysis for specific purposes of the public sector and assessment of indexes used in the Analysis. In the thesis will be introduced public projects, related public sector and evaluation of public projects. Subsequently, the Cost-Benefit analysis itself will be presented as well as steps for processing high-quality Cost-Benefit analysis. The emphasis will be focused at discount rate and its determination, since I consider it as the critical issue of the Cost-Benefit analysis. A practical example of the Cost-Benefit analysis will be presented at the end of this thesis.

Environmental Management as a Voluntary Tool for Environmental Policy

Environmental management is one of the voluntary tools for environmental policy, which provides instructions to organizations, how they can coordinate their products, activities and services to minimize their negative environmental impacts. This work describes and compares two basic approaches for environmental management system (EMS) implementation - ISO 14001 Standard and EMAS II Regulation in terms of requirements for an organization. Attention is paid to advantages and disadvantages of EMS implementation in an organization too. In analytical part of this work, environmental management is analyzed in light of a number of certified and certifying organizations, after that follows cost-benefit analysis of EMS focused on organizations and SWOT analysis. The goal of this work is to find out on the basis of the results of these analyses, whether environmental management system implementation is a competitive advantage of an organization, or not.
