Abstrakt: Proudění nestlačitelných tekutin, kdy dochází k významné výměně tepel- né a mechanické energie a kdy se vlastnosti tekutin mění s teplotou a kinematickými veličinami, jsou popsány bilančními rovnicemi pro hybnost a energii, doplněné o kon- stitutivní rovnice pro Cauchyův tenzor napětí a tepelný tok. Rovnice bilance energie má v kontextu hladkých funkcí několik ekvivalentních formulací. Tyto formulace však v kontextu slabých řešení ekvivalentní obecně nejsou. Na druhou stranu, pokud glo- bální existence řešení pro velká data je dokázána, týká se vesměs právě slabých řešení. Disertační práce vychází z existenční teorie pro zobecněný Navier-Stokes-Fourierův systém popisující rovinná proudění, kdy viskozita závisí na teplotě a rychlosti smyku. Vymezuje parametry mocninného modelu, pro které má slabá formulace bilančních rovnic ve dvou dimenzích smysl a pro které jsou dvě uvažované slabé formulace bilan- ce energie ekvivalentní. Na základě existenčního výsledku jsou navrženy a numericky řešeny příklady a systematicky srovnávány obě formulace...

Professors Ivo Babuška, Milan Práger, and Emil Vitásek are renowned experts in numerical analysis and computational methods. Their fruitful scientific careers started in Prague, at the Institute of Mathematics of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (now Czech Academy of Sciences). They collaborated there on various projects including the computational analysis of the construction technology for Orlík Dam. In 1966 they published their joint book entitled Numerical Processes in Differential Equations. It is an honor for the Institute of Mathematics to host a conference on the occasion of their birthdays.

This volume comprises peer-reviewed papers that are based on invited lectures, survey lectures, short communications, and posters presented at the 17th seminar Programs and Algorithms of Numerical Mathematics (PANM) held in Dolní Maxov, Czech Republic, June 8–13, 2014. The seminar was organized by the Institute of Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It continued the previous seminars on mathematical software and numerical methods held (with only one exception) biannually in\nAlšovice, Bratříkov, Janov nad Nisou, Kořenov, Lázně Libverda, Dolní Maxov, and Prague in the period 1983–2012. The objective of this series of seminars is to provide a forum for presenting and discussing advanced topics in numerical analysis, singleor multi-processor applications of computational methods, and new approaches to mathematical modeling.
An application of the BDDC method to the Navier-Stokes equations in 3-D cavity

We deal with numerical simulation of incompressible flow governed by the Navier-Stokes equations. The problem is discretised using the finite element method, and the arising system of nonlinear equations is solved by Picard iteration. We explore the applicability of the Balancing Domain Decomposition by Constraints (BDDC) method to nonsymmetric problems arising from such linearisation. One step of BDDC is applied as the preconditioner for the stabilized variant of the biconjugate gradient (BiCGstab) method. We present results for a 3-D cavity problem computed on 32 cores of a parallel supercomputer.
Different approaches to interface weights in the BDDC method in 3D

In this paper, we discuss the choice of weights in averaging of local (subdomain) solutions on the interface for the BDDC method (Balancing Domain Decomposition by Constraints). We try to find relations among different choices of the interface weights and compare them numerically on model problems of the Poisson equation and linear elasticity in 3D. Problems with jumps in coefficients of material properties are considered and both regular and irregular interfaces between subdomains are tested.
A parallel finite element solver for unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations

A parallel solver for unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations is presented. It is based on the finite element method combined with the pressure-correction approach. Semi-implicit treatment of the convective term is considered, leading to five systems of linear algebraic equations to be solved in each time step. Krylov subspace iterative methods are employed for the solution of these systems with a particular emphasis on efficient parallel preconditioners. A simulation of a benchmark problem of incompressible viscous flow around a sphere at Reynolds number 300 is presented and compared with literature.

We present analytical solution of the Stokes problem in rotationally symmetric domains. This is then used to find the asymptotic behaviour of the solution in the vicinity of corners, also for Navier-Stokes equations. We apply this to construct very precise numerical finite element solution.
On selection of interface weights in domain decomposition methods

Different choices of the averaging operator within the BDDC method are compared on a series of 2D experiments. Subdomains with irregular interface and with jumps in material coefficients are included into the study. Two new approaches are studied along three standard choices. No approach is shown to be universally superior to others, and the resulting recommendation is that an actual method should be chosen based on properties of the problem.

Numerical comparison of different choices of interface weights in the BDDC method

Balancing Domain Decomposition by Constraints (BDDC) belongs to the class of primal substructuring Domain Decomposition (DD) methods. DD methods are iterative methods successfully used in engineering to parallelize solution of large linear systems arising from discretization of second order elliptic problems. Substructuring DD methods represent an important class of DD methods. Their main idea is to divide the underlying domain into nonoverlapping subdomains and solvemany relatively small, local problems on subdomains instead of one large problem on the whole domain. In primal methods, it has to be specified how to distribute interface residuals among subdomains and how to obtain global, interface values of solution from local values on adjacent subdomains. Usually a weighted average is used with some simple choice of weights.
