Forensic Identification of Child Faces
Klíma, Ondřej ; Španěl, Michal (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
This thesis is focussed on children's faces comparison. Its aim is to create the application providing functions for photocomparison and ageing. Both these parts work with portrait photos of children. Photocomparison purpose is a metric expression of similarity of two portraits independently on their age. Ageing is a tool for the simulation of an individual's growing old on the photo. Principles of both functions are based on geometric morphometry methods, particulary on procrustes analysis and thin-plate spline aproximation.

Peripheral metabolism of glucocorticoids in hypertensive rats
Naproti tomu llRSDl in vivo převážně zvyšuje lokální koncentraci glukokortikoidů a je exprimovaná v nejrů znějšíc h tkáních. In vivo dochází ovšem k specifické vazb ě aldosteronu na MR.

Structure and function of the vanilloid receptor TRPV1
Sušánková, Klára ; Vlachová, Viktorie (advisor) ; Kršiak, Miloslav (referee) ; Chvátal, Alexandr (referee)
2 11.. SSuummmmaarryy The vanilloid receptor (TRPV1) plays a role of the polymodal detector of nociceptive stimuli in a subset of small and medium sized primary sensory neurons in mammals. This channel can be activated by vanilloid compounds, low pH, and noxious heat, and its function is modulated by a wide range of endogenous and exogenous agents. Our results demonstrate that the reducing agent dithiothreitol (DTT) strongly potentiates both the native and recombinant rat TRPV1 channel when applied at millimolar concentrations to the external solution under intact whole-cell conditions. Since the effects of DTT were almost immediate, dose-dependent, and reversible, the contribution of extracellular cysteine residues within the putative pore-loop region of TRPV1, Cys616, Cys621, and Cys634 has been proposed. We show that the chemical modification of TRPV1 by both reducing and oxidizing agents leads to an increased response to heat. In addition, we identify the extracellularly located cysteine at position 621 which contributes to the DTT-induced potentiation of heat-activated currents mediated by TRPV1. Our data also indicate that capsaicin concentration is radically altered by the presence of oxidizing agents. More generally, the redox-active substances can substantially affect the activity of TRPV1 channels...

Sýkorová, Magda ; Čábelková, Veronika (advisor) ; Svěcená, Kateřina (referee)
Usage of LOTCA-G battery in occupational therapy by the seniors This bachelor thesis is focusing on assesment by the seniors using LOTCA-G battery (Loewenstein Occupational Therapy Cognitive Assessment for Geriatric Population). The aim of theoretical part is to obtain basic information about human aging and about efects of aging on the human body, focusing on cognitive functions. It also deals with cognition function disorders and basic methods, commonly used to assess cognitive functions in the Czech republic. The theoretical part describes the LOTCA battery and its variants; compares basic LOTCA battery with its geriatric LOTCA-G variant. The practical part contains three case studies of Sue Ryder Home clients including an assessment of clients cognitive functions using LOTCA-G batery, design and implementation of therapy and comparison of input test and retest.

CONTRACTILE FUNCTIONS AND SYMPATHETIC INNERVATION OF THE ALBINO RAT DIABETIC HEART
Švíglerová, Jitka ; Pučelík, Pavel (advisor) ; Ošťádal, Bohuslav (referee) ; Pelouch, Václav (referee)
Contractile functions and sympathetic innervation of the albino rat diabetic heart Thesis Summary: The aim of this thesis was to describe: 1. The impact of untreated long-termed diabetes induced by streptozotocin on cardiac contractile functions and their sympathetic regulation in rat. 2. The effect of insulin on cardiac contraction in control and diabetic myocardium. In the diabetic group, the contraction force was significantly decreased compared to control group. The norepinephrine-releasing mechanisms were altered in chronically diabetic rats and may contribute to the decreased norepinephrine concentration in the diabetic heart. Insulin exerted a significant negative inotropic effect in rat myocardium, both control and diabetic. This effect was probably related to processes of SR Ca2+ release triggering, whereas SR Ca2+ loading is not involved. MUDr. Jitka Švíglerová Plzeň, 2006

Polášková, Eva ; Kříž, Radim (advisor) ; Hásová, Jiřina (referee)
My master thesis deals with the position of members of the board of directors in a joint-stock company. The focus of this thesis is to deliver a complete overview of information on members of the board of directors of a joint-stock company and other aspects related to the performance of this function. The entire thesis is divided into six chapters, where the first chapter deals with the board of directors and its role in a company. Followed by a chapter on a sole fuctioning of a member of the board of directors. Subsequently the thesis deals with the agreement on performance, which steadily continues in the definition of rights and duties of members of the board of directors. Significant part of this work is dedicated to the sphere of action of the board of directors and the responsibility of its members.

Residents of retirements homes in region of Zlín in point of demographic view Abstract Presented work introduces the law no. 108/2006 on social services that determines retirements homes as one of the facilities providing social services. The capacity of these facilities in the Zlín region is evaluated with the help of availability indices and facility normatives. More detailed attention was drawn to an analysis of age, gender, former permanent address and dependence degree of residents in selected retirement homes. This part of the research is based on data provided by five retirement homes in Zlín region. Obtained data was evaluated with the Kaplan-Meier method in order to estimate surviving function for these clients. The resemblance was tested employing the determination of the null hypothesis by log-rank test or Wilcoxon test. Keywords: ageing, residents of retirements homes, law on social services, survival analysis
