Funding of public universities with focus on qualitative criteria

The bachelor's thesis as a whole deals with funding of public universities in the Czech Republic. The bachelor's thesis deals at first with education system in the Czech Republic and defines the term "university education" as such itself. Step by step gets it to the problematics of funding public universities and describes this process in the Czech Republic in detail. As a main issue the bachelor's work analyses qualitative touchstones in funding of public universities and finally investigates the impact of these intermediate indicators on budget of the University of Economics in Prague.

System of Higher Education Funding in the Czech Republic and in Selected European Union Countries

This thesis deals with the description and analysis of the system of higher education funding in the Czech Republic and in selected EU countries. First, it focuses on the meaning and conception of the education, then the education is analyzed in the view of the public goods theory. The next section of the thesis characterizes the higher education system, analyses its funding and compares these systems within selected countries. The final part focuses on the presentation and evaluation of prepared changes in the higher education law, then applies gained knowledge and suggests possible changes to the funding system in the Czech Republic.
Quality of Higher Education in Selected EU Countries

The aim of this thesis is to approach a meaning of quality in higher education. The education is perceived as a system where several kinds of investment are transformed into outcomes with an added value. Determining a methodology based on a correlation analysis enables the author to look for links in education systems of selected members of the European Union. These links are interpreted in order to point out the qualitative implications of potential decisions in terms of managing this system both at a central and institutional level. Approaches to quality of tertiary education are presented in order to define the means of quality assessment and selecting a policy of achieving it. The functioning principles of higher education institutions describe the institutions' structure and characteristics. These are complemented with the impact of the European Union initiatives. The properties of higher education are analysed using selected indicators which are assumed to have an influence on education quality. The reasons for their choice are explained and an enouncement of hypotheses is followed by the correlation. The analysis outputs are interpreted and contextualised in accordance to their usability for the stakeholders.
Quality assurance of higher education in the EU and the Czech Republic

The aim of the thesis is to analyze current quality assurance and accreditation process in the Europe area and the Czech Republic and how far the proposed amendments to the Act will meet the criteria of the European Association for Quality Assurance (ENQA).
Reputation of University of economics, Prague

This thesis focuses on issue of reputation of higher education institution. Theoretical part defines reputation and specifies it in context of image, identity and brand and describes evaluation methods of these terms in context of higher education. Importance of reputation for public institutions and universities is also described. The objective of the research part was to investigate reputation of University of economics Prague (VŠE) in view of different stakeholders. Second objective was to analyze reputation of private higher education institutions competing with VŠE. Questionnaire was selected as a research method, 3 groups of stakeholders were asked to participate: students of VŠE, students of other universities and companies. Result of the research confirmed the hypothesis, that reputation of private schools worsens their position on the market. Also hypothesis that VŠE has bad reputation in eyes of students of other universities, but great reputation in eyes of companies was confirmed. In the conclusion, some steps to increase reputation of VŠE were recommended.
The Bologna Process - Creation of a European Space for Higher Education

This thesis analyses the Bologna process, which is supposed to lead to the creation of The European Higher Education Area. Its objective is to present the origin and the development of this process, to explain its main principles and to describe its internal structure and functioning. The paper then evaluates the implementation of the Bologna process in the Czech republic and in France. It focuses concretely on the involvement of the University of South Bohemia and the University of South Brittany in the process and it evaluates its advantages for both universities and for their mutual cooperation.
Financing public higher education and its changes

This bachelor thesis analyses system of financing public higher education in the Czech republic and its changes. At first it describes our higher education and draws attention to its shortcomings. In the next part it focuses on current system of financing public higher education, discusses its greatest problems and describes upcoming changes. The largest part is about the schoolfee. It features arguments for and against its implementation. This thesis presents two concrete forms of schoolfee, compares their weak and strong points and tries to find the most acceptable model for the Czech republic. It points to possibilities how to improve the system of student financial support. In the last part the present situation of the implementation of the schoolfee in the Czech republic is described.
Financing of post-secondary education in Canada

The thesis focuses on higher education as an economic good and identifies its characteristics in relation to the method of financing. The main objective is to analyze the system of financing post-secondary education in Canada. The focus of this paper is mainly evaluation of decentralization and thus participation rate of federal and provincial governments for funding. Then it looks at issue of tuition fees and financial aid for students. On the basis of the analysis are evaluated the pros and cons of the system. The last section is devoted to the current lack of funding tertiary education in Czech Republic and proposed concept of tuition fees.
