Nursing care after spinal injury followed by plegia from the view of the patient and his family.
ČELOUDOVÁ, Nela
This thesis focuses on nursing care after a spinal injury which is followed by paralysis from the patient's and his family's point of view. Spinal or spinal cord injury is a very serious disability that influences patient's life. Depending on the type of the injury and its location in the spinal segments, loss of motoric, sensory and autonomous functions occurs. The nursing care for patients with spinal injuries is a very complicated and long term matter as much for the nursing personnel as for the patients themselves. Two goals were set for this thesis. The first one was to find out if the family is ready for taking care of a paralysed patient in a home environment post hospital release. Second goal was focusing on how patients with post injury paralysis perceive nursing care. The bachelor thesis was processed using qualitative research. The data was collected using the method of semi-structured interviews of patients with paralysis caused by spinal injuries and their family members. The results of the research show that the awareness of family members is small and the information submitted is considered insufficient. Information was missing both form the nursing care and administrative point of view. In addition, the research shows that patients with post-traumatic plegia are satisfied with the nursing care provided and that the communication with nurses is evaluated positively. Another piece of information resulting from the research is that the patient's family was prepared for home care of a paralysed individual only partially and the most significant complications come from the technical side of preparedness. This thesis is outlining the awareness of patients and their families after a spinal injury occurs. It is focusing on caring for the patients in their home environment, in a hospital or a rehabilitation facility.

TITLE: Coping with sudden motility limitation and its implication - coping strategies among young people with spinal cord injury and with multiple sclerosis SUMMARY: This thesis is focused on process of adjustment of motility limitation, caused by spinal cord injury or by attack of multiple sclerosis, among young people. TITLE: Life of clients after spinal cord injury AUTHOR: Anna Kudláková DEPARTMENT: Katedra pedagogiky SUPERVIZOR: PhDr. Jaroslava Hanušová Ph.D. The theme of final work is "Life of clients after spinal cord injury". The aim of my work was mapping individuals with this injury. Study and then sort and provide compact information of the issue. At the same time try role of handicapped client through fixed rules experiment. Thanks to experiment gain unbiased information from one day life of man on wheelchair. Later, trough quantitative analysis, this information confront with feelings of actually handicapped people. Initial point for quantitative analysis was a survey, which was made not only in organizations engage with this issue. Respondents were chosen randomly, their age range was 26-50 years, social or other status wasn't determining. Question form was based on hypotheses defined in advance, which were after decoding earned dates in most cases confirmed. Thanks to complete information and questionnaire probe this work provides valuable information of the issue and could be used for orientation and mapping of this area, not only in helping professions. Possibilities of influencing blood pressure in spinal cord injury patients during verticalization
Věchetová, Tereza ; Schreier, Bronislav (advisor) ; Slabý, Kryštof (referee)
Orthostatic hypotension is a common problem for individuals with spinal cord lesions, especially in the acute period after spinal cord injury. The first part of this study deals with the theoretical analysis of the pathophysiology of cardiovascular control after spinal cord injury, the definition of orthostatic hypotension and its inclusion within the classification of the syncopal conditions. An important part of the theoretical part is the management of orthostatic hypotension, which brings non-pharmacological therapeutic approaches, and marginally pharmacology, to decrease the severity of this condition. The experimental part focuses on testing of a group of probands with spinal cord injury (11 quadriplegics) on two different types of tilt tables according to the same protocol. The first tilt table is a standard; the second one is Erigo, tilt table with integrated robotic mechanism, which moves the legs to simulate walking. The parameters, such as blood pressure, heart rate, oxygen saturation, and the occurrence and severity of pre-synkopal symptoms, were compared. The study is based on the assumption that passive leg movement, which is mediated by the Erigo, will maintain venous return, cardiac output, and a significant drop in blood pressure and development of orthostatic hypotension,...
