Contribution to the study of the origin and development of the welfare state in Great Britain between 1945 and 1990

The main purpose of the work is to analyze the most important aspects of post war development in Great Britain. My attention will be focused primarily on measures taken by the Labour government, which for the first time in history came to power. In second part I will describe the building of the welfare state from the World War II until the end of 80's of the 20th century, when Margaret Thatcher was elected to be the prime minister. In the third part of the work I will analyze her impact on the economic conversion of Great Britain from Keynesianism to Monetarist doctrine of free market forces and responsibility of each individual for his / her fate. The government of Margaret Thatcher has set a new direction, which becomes the inspiration for many other politicians around the world. In the end of the work, I will describe the circumstances which led to the resignation of the first female prime minister in the history of Great Britain.
Social Security, Pension and Health Insurance of Persons Engaged in Business in the District of Tábor

The work deals with social security in the Czech Republic. It describes the origin and development of welfare state. The origin of social security {--} its composition, benefits provided by it. Further it describes the institution providing for social security in the Czech Republic, i.e. the Czech Administration of Social Security. That institution has its territorial centres providing for social security all over the Czech Republic. It cooperates with other state bodies in matters related to social security. A part of the work is focused on general characteristics of persons engaged in business {--} who can be a person engaged in business, under which conditions, classification of persons engaged in business. etc. It includes also pension and health insurance of businesspersons, benefits resulting from such insurances to which the persons engaged in business have claim upon fulfilment of conditions given by laws. All duties and rights resulting from performance of activities of persons engaged in business are described here. The work includes statistical data from the register of persons engaged in business I was provided by the District Administration of Social Security of Tábor.
The System of Benefits in Material Need

The thesis deals with a new system of benefits in material need, which came into effect since January 1.1.2007. Using well put questions I tried to determine the subjective opinions of the beneficiaries, which served as a basis to assess whether the new system of benefits has fulfilled the expectations of Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
Comparison of selected aspects of Thatcherism and 'New Labour' in Great Britain (1979-2007)

This thesis compares selected aspects of the policies of conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher (1979-1990) and Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair (1997-2007). Thatcherism and New Labour are two important phenomena in the development of Great Britain in the second half of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. The subject of comparison is functioning of the Welfare State and the relationship with the European Union. Individual chapters analyse the main points of the main policies of the two prime ministers in particular areas of the Welfare State, in the area of European integration, this work deals with matters which in his term prime ministers discussed the most, and compares the overall attitude and relationship with the European Union. The essence of work is to analyse and highlight the many similarities as well as many differences in policies of both prime ministers.
Perspectives of the further development of the european integration in context of globalization

The consequences of globalization connected to the world market liberalisation and increasing global competition have uncovered and deepened many weaknesses of the European Union and its position in the world economy. The thesis is aimed to describe the contemporary economic condition of the EU and to provide a notion aboat its further development. This depends mostly on efficient ways how the EU will face new challenges. I try to distinguish EU's most serious challenges and introduce the strategies responding to them. I will also offer an appraisal of these strategies and outline its limits.
Nordic Welfare Stare

The thesis Nordic Welfare states addresses the social policies of Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. It concentrates on specific features of policies forming the Nordic social system and the paper also evaluates the impacts of the social policies in various fields. Moreover, the paper discusses the perspectives of the Nordic welfare state and identifies potential risks which they may face in the future.
The influence of social capital on the social system - the Swedish model

The bachelor thesis tries to show how human interaction can reflect in the way the government works. It maps the development of the Swedish state which, thanks to its homogenous populatioén, is a quite good example of how culture can influence the way that state behaves to its citizens. It focuses on the period of the second half of the twentieth century. The thesis tries to find the reason for the setting of the public sector, which offers the social benefits. By the collocation social system is meant the service the citizens get abd it is thought rather in the meaning of system of a society. Thus the thesis tries to enllighten the reason for choosing the rate of citizen - govenrment cooperation among nations and among cultures
Welfare state's crisis: France

The purpose of my thesis is to explain the issue of the welfare state's crisis. To describe its current situation and impacts in modern world of capitalism. I have chosen France as a case study. Social disorders are common and becoming stronger and the sustainability of the social state causes considerable difficulties. In the first part of my thesis I describe the development of the modern welfare state, its basic principals and individual theoretical approaches criticizing the concept. In the second part I illustrate characteristic features of French welfare state: interests groups, primary values of the society and its specifics, situation on labor market, entrepreneurial environment and political progress. The thesis shows that France makes efforts to reform its welfare state. However, suggested solutions are only partial and even deepen social problems in France.
Economics growth and social spending - a causal relationship?

This paper aims to explore the relationship of social spending and the economic development of the country or region. Work in the first, theoretical part deals with basic theories of economic growth and their view of the state expenditure on social policy. Due attention is also paid to the basic concepts and types of social policies that significantly affect the size of social spending in the marketing area. As part of the theoretical work will be fundamental characteristics of the measuring instruments for economic growth and social spending. In the second, analytical, part of the thesis will deal with empirical data comparing the economic development with the evolution of the size of social spending in several selected countries. The analysis of this part of the work will be characteristic of otherfactors, the relationship of economic growth and social spending determine, influence, and to some extent and explain, such as unemployment, public revenues and public state debt.
Social policy of the European Union and its development

The final thesis depicts historical development of social policy in the European Union. It describes the meaning particular members of EU attribute it. It characterizes different models of social policy and by comparing them across the EU it evaluates the efficiency and sustainability of such models. The thesis deals mainly with Czech model of social policy. It focuses on systems of social protection, incomes and expenses on social benefits and transfers and finally compares the particular structure of this issue within members of EU. It also tries to define the term "social state" and compares it with Swedish model of social state. It is focused not only on historical development but also address present issues, which modern models have to face. Based on economic indicators and characteristic variables it compares Czech model with presented Swedish model. Finally it focuses on new problems and challenges, which social policy has to deal with nowadays.
