Silent Landscape and Talking Landscape (about Cognitive Modeling Endangering the Landscape)
Hauser, Michael
The current breaking down of the landscape is tied to the undervaluation of the landscape and nature as opposite to the civilization. The face of the landscape becomes dependent on the social and economic processes. The landscape is a mirror of our world. The difference between them disappears and the landscape loses the value of its own.
Landscape as dynamic living system
Pokorný, Jan
Holistic approach to landscape understanding in terms of solar energy dissipation, water and matter fluxes is dealt with. Measures of landscape functioning are defined. Floods and drought as consequences of anthropogenic impact are explained and strategy of sustainable landscape management formulated.
Role of short water cycle in restoration of ecological functions of landscape
Pokorný, Jan
Fluxes of matter, water and energy are the principle ecological functions of landscape. Open cast mining deteriorated and changed these fluxes since it directly dealt with large surfaces of landscape. The restoration strategy of large landscape surfaces should be aimed at restoration of short water cycle, i.e. restoration of large stands of vegetation in order to close again water cycle and to buffer heat potential in landscape, to close matter cycles and reduce matter losses from landscape.
Effect of different management on development of vegetation, fluxes of energy, water and matter in landscape using case studies of three small catchments
Procházka, J. ; Hakrová, P. ; Pokorný, Jan
Effect of different mamagement practices on ecological functioning of landscape has being studied in three small catchment of Šumava mountains. The highest matter losses in terms of base cations were found in agriculture drained land. Dissipation of solar energy has been evaluated by means of Landsat satellite pictures.
Krajina jako základ životního prostředí malých měst
Kirchner, Karel ; Lacina, Jan
Contribution deals with specific features of the nature environment of the small towns. Nature environment influenced development of economic activities in the during of evolution of the small towns. In the present, nature environment and its components are influencing the environment of the small towns. This relations are pointed on examples of the small towns: Dubňany and Tišnov.
Changes of relief of the Dubňany town and its surroundings due to mining activity
Kirchner, Karel
In our geomorphological researches we are concentrated on the areas burdened by the economic activity – particularly by the mining. In these areas the distinct changes of relief occured, the influences of mining activities are also indicated in the period of mining depression. On the example of the Dubňany town (South Moravia, Dolnomoravský úval Graben ) we deal with the geomorphological aspects of landscape where for more than 170 year the lignit mining was located.
Natural flooding in Lužnice floodplain - a holistics approach
Pithart, David ; Montagová, Martina ; Hartvich, P. ; Černý, R. ; Prach, K.
Natural flooding was analysed in the Lužnice River floodplain in a holistic approach. Benefits of natural floooding can be summarised as folows: 1.Water retention is increased due to the soil absorption, evaporation, evapotranspiration, filling of oxbows, pools and natural depressions and finally the space between the river terraces. Real flood event are analysed here in terms of water distribution among these processes. 2. Natural flooding reduces the loss of ionts from the watershed by slowing the river outflow and loss of carbon loss by slowing the decomposition processes. 3. Flooding creates and maintains floodplain geodiversity by re-forming of floodplain geomorphology and keps its biodiversity by inoculation of biota into the floodplain subsystems and differentation of its impact on these subsystems. For these reasons, maintaining and enhancing of natural flooding seems to be a prerequisite of sustainable management of riverine landscape.
