This text deals with croatian admission process to the EU. The objective is to find out whether Croatia meets political part of the Copenhagen criteria. First part is concerned with croatian political developement since the break-up of Yugoslavia. Second part deals with EU approach to the region of Western Balkan concerning process of enlargement and association. Last part describes admission negotiations between Croatia and EU including assessment of meeting political part of Copenhagen criteria.

The Right of Peoples to Self-determination as a Factor of International Relations

This paper explores the current understanding of the right of peoples to self-determination and its impact on international relations. A number of new states have gained international recognition outside the scope of decolonisation, several of which have not fulfilled the usual criteria for statehood, based on existing state practice. In addition, the parent states of Bangladesh, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as Kosovo have not consented to the secession of these territories. The main purpose of this paper is to determine whether based on the stipulations of international documents and mainly on existing state practice, it is possible to verify the existence of a customary law enabling peoples to unilaterally secede. Such a right would pose a threat to the future application of the principle of territorial integrity as one of the basic principles of international relations. In order to answer this question I compare case studies of successful and unsuccessful nations striving for their own state outside the realm of decolonisation. Based on this comparison I analyse the current understanding of the right to self-determination and its impact on international relations. I conclude by stating that it is not possible to unambiguously confirm the existence of such a right. However, in practice the principle of territorial integrity is being breached nonetheless, due to persisting uncertainties regarding the possible application of secession by peoples whose internal right to self-determination was not respected. Together with the fact that the current concept of self-determination ignores collective rights of national groups, this poses a threat to international stability.

Analysis of tax competition of Croatia in comparison with neighbouring states based on corporate income tax

The diploma thesis examines tax competition between Croatia and its neighbouring countries- Hungary, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia- based on corporate income tax. After first theoretical part focused on tax harmonization, coordination and competition, the paper continues with describing systems of the corporate income tax for each country. Subsequently the practical part follows with analysis of tax competition from corporate tax perspective using time and space comparison. Final conclusion of the thesis is that Croatia, respecting corporate income tax, is highly competitive location in comparison with analyzed neighbouring countries.

Transition process in Croatia

The diploma thesis is dealing with transition process in Croatia since the change of communistic regime to the present. It examines the transition from the socialistic economy to the market-oriented economy according to particular parts of the process and describes the progress and implementation of market reforms. The political and macroeconomic evolution is included as well as the current situation. All data is compared with other countries in transition. The thesis can help to understand the Croatian transition and current situation. It can be useful for companies which plan to invest or set up a business in Croatia.

Vývoj, současnost a perspektiva daňového systému Chorvatska

V práci je popsán daňový systém Chorvatské republiky, jeho vývoj, současnost a proces harmonizace s normami EU. Na podkladě hospodářského vývoje se zabývá změnami v daňové soustavě, které se odehrály v období krátce před vznikem samostatné Chorvatské republiky (1990) až po současnost. Změny jsou zachyceny prostřednictvím vývoje jednotlivých druhů daní, jakož i administrativních změn. Dále je v práci provedena komparace zjištěného stavu s normami EU, které musí Chorvatsko v případě vstupu do EU implementovat. Součástí práce je také naznačení očekávaných změn, které hodlá Chorvatsko v daňovém systému v nejbližší budoucnosti provést.

V práci sa zaoberám postavením malých a stredných firiem v Chorvátsku. Sledujem ich postavenie a miesto v ekonomike Chorvátskej Republiky. Ďalej sa práca zaoberá podmienkami pre zahájenie podnikateľskej činnosti, podnikateľským prostredím, možnosťami podpôr a pomoci rozvoja, legislatívnym prostredím, právnymi formami a daňovým systémom. Všetky zistené skutočnosti sú porovnané so situáciou malých a stredných firiem v Českej Republike. Zachytený je aj politický vývoj a hospodársky stav krajiny. Práca môže slúžiť aj ako návod pre české podniky, ktoré sa rozhodnú podnikať v Chorvátsku

Vlivy cestovního ruchu na národní hospodářství ve srovnání Česká republika ? Chorvatsko

Tato diplomová práce se především zabývá vztahem národního hospodářství a cestovního ruchu, jejich vzájemného vymezení a působení. Velký prostor je také věnován satelitnímu účtu cestovního ruchu, který slouží jako nástroj ke statistickému zachycení těchto vlivů. Toto téma je dále pak z praktického hlediska znázorněno na dvou ukázkových zemích, na České republice a Chorvatsku. Po uvedení do problematiky, která je obsahem první kapitoly, je v druhé kapitole nastíněn vývoj cestovního ruchu ve světě a jeho pohled do budoucnosti. Třetí kapitola rozebírá satelitní účet cestovního ruchu, jeho metodologii, tvorbu, aplikaci a výsledky v obou srovnávaných zemích, a to jak z pohledu národních tak mezinárodních statistik. Ve čtvrté kapitole jsou samostatně analyzovány jednotlivé vlivy cestovního ruchu na národní hospodářství s konkrétní ukázkou v obou výše zmíněných zemích. Poslední kapitola obsahuje srovnání České republiky a Chorvatska dle mezinárodní statistik.

The position of Croatia on the international travel and tourism market

This thesis deals with travel and tourism in Croatia, describes its current position on the international market with regard to the historical context. A big part of the thesis is also focused on tourist attractions Croatia has to offer both cultural, natural and social as well as hospitality facilities. It also discusses the impact of travel and tourism on croatian economy and mutual relations and tourism between Croatia and the Czech Republic. Finally SWOT analysis of Croatia as a tourist destination is presented.
