THE MOST WELL - KNOWN WORED CUSINES - SPECIFICS FAST-FOOD, INFLUENCE ON HEALTH AND THEIR POPULARITY AMONG STUDENTS OF SOUTHBOHEMIAN UNIVERSITY
TESAŘOVÁ, Petra
The bachelor{\crq}s thesis deals with a very relevant topic in today{\crq}s times {--} nutrition. Whereas in some parts of the world there is deprivation and deficiency in this area, the problem in developed countries tends to be a surplus and the subsequent threats linked to a bad diet. Today, thanks to globalization, we more and more frequently come across the most diverse exotic meals and we are much more susceptible to trends connected to the changing lifestyle and growing number of fast food restaurants. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes basic information about nutrition and its influence on the health of human beings, and reminds of the main components of nutrition, their function and differing impacts on the organism. Subsequently, also the influence of nutrition on the health of human beings is described in more detail, as nutrition can be labeled as one of the highest risk factors in many illnesses. These illnesses, known as civilizational diseases, threaten a constantly growing part of the population, even though it is possible to fight them successfully, especially with prevention. Another goal of the theoretical part of the thesis is to show the differences among individual foreign cuisines, remind of their traditional dishes and most frequently used ingredients. The subsequent research is also focused in this direction and its results are presented in the empirical part of the thesis. The research part, executed via a questionnaire, is dedicated to the level of informedness of the respondents on the influence of specific foods on human health and the subsequent utilization of this information in practice. The research results document that although the majority of the respondents are informed about the negative influences of bad nutrition, they do not use this information too much in their decision making. Another goal of the thesis was the mapping of the situation in the area of eating and eating habits and the determination of the popularity and preferences of various international cuisines among students. The aggregate results prove that international cuisines are no longer completely taboo, and that the majority of the students orient themselves in this topic and visit foreign restaurants. In spite of that, traditional Czech cuisine, which is without a doubt the closest one to us, remains as the most popular.
Healthy lifestyle of the individual - the way to the health of population
KUČEROVÁ, Eva
The bachelor thesis summarizes the basic information about healthy lifestyle and it deals with this issue. It presents categories regarding healthy lifestyle and it presents the current scientific findings and recommendations in the area. The theoretical part is aimed at areas of lifestyle. It deals with the factors affecting human health and their division with regards to their importance. It aims particularly at the four main elements, which include: nutrition, smoking, stress, alcohol drugs abuse. I selected the factors as they related to human decisions the most and that is why they are more dependent on human will. First of all I am dealing with nutrition, particularly its optimum composition and effect on health. I further focus on stress and its mental and physical impacts on people. At the end of the theoretical part I am dealing with the question what the impact of smoking and alcohol and drugs abuse is on the human body. In the practical part, the research results are presented, focused on the issue above. The research part of the thesis realized in form of a questionnaire deals with nutrition, smoking, physical activity and health care in general in people working in the South-Bohemian Region. During the research I found out that women are more interested in their lifestyle than men, but they rather invest time while men mostly invest money. The research further documents that in people with elementary education there is higher percentage of smokers than in people with higher education. In the area of nutrition I focused on the difference between nutritional habits of men and women. I found out that women's diet is usually healthier that that of men, mainly because they are more interested in the nutrition quality, compared to men who do not care for the nutrition quality much. Therefore my thesis shows how people working in the South-Bohemian Region care fore their health and how they are interested in their lifestyle.
Possibilities of primary prevention in children of the early school age in relation to problems of food intake disorders
FITTLOVÁ, Michala
Food-intake disorders belong to serious health problems and their prevalence is increasing all the time. They represent serious problem in children especially because they are not expected at this age. Combating this disease is difficult. The easiest way is to prevent these food-intake disorders (Anorexia nervosa, Bulimia nervosa) by targeted primary prevention both in basic schools and in families. Theoretical part of my thesis is aimed at definition of junior school age. Next part is dedicated to the characteristics of food-intake disorders and prevention in children and youth. The last part concerns correct children´ s nutrition. The research is divided into two parts. For quantitative research the technique of e-mail questioning was used. Questions were established for basic schools in South Bohemia region. For qualitative research was used half-guided dialogue with parents of junior school age children. First aim was to chart the possibilities of primary prevention within the frame of food-intake disorders in the South Bohemia region in chosen basic schools. Further aim was to find out the parents´ opinions on problems of food-intake disorders. Both aims were fulfilled. Hypothesis I had to document that within basic schools the targeted primary prevention in junior school age children in problems of food-intake disorders is not ensured. Hypothesis II should confirm that the offer of comprehensive education for pedagogues in problems of food-intake disorders is missing. Both hypotheses were confirmed as well. From qualitative research (half -standardized dialogue) two hypotheses emerged. Hypothesis III: It is necessary to increase the informedness in sphere of food-intake disorders. Hypothesis IV: Healthy nutrition is only one of important aspects of prevention. I chose the topic for my thesis (Possibilities of primary prevention in junior school age children in relation to problems of food-intake disorders) because it is up-to-date subject and after all it started to be discussed in public. I am interested in possibilities of primary prevention, whether they exist and are used.
Constipation - problem of immobile patients
HULIČKOVÁ, Tereza
My thesis deals with constipation in immobile patients. The research was carried out by collecting data using the questionnaire method. The questionnaires were focused on immobile patients of all ages hospitalized in any units in the České Budějovice hospital, Inc. The objective of this thesis was to survey the drinking regimen and eating habits in immobile patients and to analyze their impact on the development of constipation. I set three hypotheses: The first hypothesis suggests that immobile patients´ alimentation does not include an increased requirement for dietary fiber. My research shows that patients´ diet at home contains more fruits, vegetables and whole meal bread. A diet therapist hardly ever comes to see hospitalized immobile patients. Most patients are not on any diet which would limit the intake of particular nutrients. The first hypothesis was confirmed. The second hypothesis suggests that immobile patients do not observe the drinking regimen. The research data analysis shows that patients´ fluid intake is the same no matter if they stay in hospital or at home {--} it is about 1- 2 litres a day. The fluid intake depends on patients´ age, weight and health condition. It is possible to say that immobile patients observe the drinking regimen. The second hypothesis was not confirmed. The third hypothesis suggests that immobile patients do not have enough privacy while they pass stool. They feel ashamed and these feelings also raise the constipation development. There is a lot to improve in this respect, the nursing staff should be aware of the fact that immobile patients need more intimacy at passing bowel motion. It is not surprising that most immobile patients feel the lack of privacy in hospital. In my opinion not enough attention is paid to the question of privacy in hospitals. This has a negative impact on patients´comfort. Patients´ diet should include more dietary fiber. Individual consultations with a diet therapist are advisable for patients. The nursing staff should also focus on the patients´ drinking regimen. The right diet and drinking regimen may contribute to constipation prevention. The empathetic, holistic, psychological and sensitive approach to patients should improve patients´ condition and alleviate their pain. Each nurse should make her best to prevent patients from feeling undignified in hospital.
