Role neziskových organizací : Analýza ekonomických teorií a nad-národní empirická studie na faktory určující velikost neziskového sektoru
Vajčner, David ; Klosová, Anna (advisor) ; Jackson, Ian (referee)
This thesis investigates the economic theories on the role on non-profit organizations, their creation, and factors for the size of the non-profit sector. An analytical approach was taken to determine what factors seem to affect the size of the non-profit sector. Firstly a literature review was conducted of the existing, and predominant economic theories relating to the role of the non-profit sector, and several hypotheses where suggested from the analysis of past research. Then an empirical model was created to test the validity of the hypotheses on a cross-national sample, in an effort to deduce what factors affect the size of the non-profit sector.
Rozuzlení vztahu korupce a šedé ekonomiky
Rais, Jonáš ; Rod, Aleš (advisor) ; Potužák, Pavel (referee)
This paper analyses the relationship between corruption and shadow economy. Synthesis of existing theoretical models and the empirical findings in this paper show that different types of corrupt behavior interact with shadow economy differently. Therefore, the relationship between contexts differs. Overall, it seems that the mechanisms leading to the complementary relationship are more prevalent. The results also imply that the quality of public goods available in the official economy influences where the different types of corrupt behavior manifest. When the quality of the public goods is high, corruption and shadow economy appear to be substitutes and when the quality is low, they are complements. However, the relationship is not robust and depends upon the measures used to assess the public goods quality. Furthermore, corruption and shadow economy seem to be complements in decentralized countries and countries with high taxes.
Příčina selhávání politiky rozvoje venkova: případ vybraných nástrojů druhé osy PRV.
PRAŽAN, Jaroslav
This study was focused on reasons for ineffectiveness of agri-environmental measure, which is the policy in which the state compensates farmers for losses caused when participating at production of public goods. The work selected as a subject of the study agri-environmental contract and its characteristics and other institutions, of which maturity influence the effects of that policy. The main goal was to identify these characteristics of contract and assess their balance in relation to the purpose and subject of the contract and long term benefit of both sides of the contract. Attitudes on the maturity of the contract characteristics have been collected between farmers and state administrators in survey (as sites of the contract) on national level and also in four regional case studies. It was revealed that most of the contract characteristics were not mature enough to serve to long term benefit for both sides of the contract, which decreases potential effectiveness of the agri-environmental policy. These are for example: information availability, trust between sides of the contract, tendencies to strategic behaviour, power distribution in the contract, sharing risks in the contract, adequacy of compensation level. Control and penalty system was regarded as rather adequate. Not mature institutions and characteristics of the contract increase transaction costs of both sides of the contract and decrease willingness to renew the contracts in future. The results of the research are for the state administration a good base for improvement of the contract in order to increase effectiveness of the agri-environmental policy in question.

Prášková, Jarmila ; Vokoun, Marek (advisor) ; Šlajs, Jan (referee)
In my thesis I focus on the public ownership of forests with emphasis on state-owned enterprise LCR. The aim is to analyze the forestry-wood sector and determine whether publicly owned enterprises of the sector affect, or specify how. The theoretical part deals with the historical development of forest ownership, political aspects of their property, non-productive functions of forest management. Furthermore you examine the status of forestry in the national economy and analyze financial LCR, s.p. in the period 1998-2010. The practical part is then trying to use regression analysis to prove or disprove the impact of public ownership of the sector. In the examined sectors we have observed increasing returns of capital and declining income from work. Applied models revealed a large heterogeneity of the data, the influence of public ownership is therefore proved.

Private finance and public policy
Schinasi, Garry J.
This paper articulates a logical foundation—drawn from disparate literatures—for understanding why safeguarding financial stability is an important economic policy objective. The paper also explains why private aspects of finance provide broader social economic benefits and have the characteristics of public goods. Unique aspects of finance are examined, as are the linkages between finance, money, and the real economy.
