JavaFX 8 and its Application in Education
Kopecký, Jan ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
The thesis as the name suggests approaches the topic of graphical framework JavaFX 8 and its potential use in education. First off it introduces the JavaFX 8 framework as a whole. It explains the basic principles and comments on various advantages, architecture and important differences in working approach compared to using Swing library. After communicating the basics of the framework JavaFX 8, thesis proceeds to convert the selected applications used in education at VŠE in effort to demonstrate previously ex-plained attributes of the framework. It starts off with a simple Zipper application, continues explaining the attributes on semester assignment Adventura and concludes with Canvas library. Work is finished by summing up all the knowledge gained through the conversion efforts. It also evaluates the level of achieved success, answers whether it is better to convert an application or simply write a new one from scratch, and explains why the programming education at VŠE should develop in this direction.

Analys of information need as a part of process modeling
Dressler, Adam ; Svatá, Vlasta (advisor) ; Říhová, Zora (referee)
The objective of this bachelor's thesis is to apply relevant knowledge to practical process modeling in a concrete medium size logistic operation, specifically identifying areas where there are "quick wins" possible, with minimum resources required on the part of the organization. The modeling was done in the ARIS Business Architect software. Relevant definitions and literature research are provided to put the modeling approach into context of the extensive literature on process management. The conflict between the optimum and realistic involvement of the organization's employees in creating the models was addressed by a level of detail of the description where the process steps can be documented materially by screenshots in the ERP system (SAP in this case), individual states of the material and information throughout the main process and by stipulations in the contract with the principal customer. This approach creates a risk of inconsistent, albeit detailed and relevant models. Two features address this pitfall: stringent use of the controls provided by the ARIS software to check library of objects (no synonymy or homonymy even when processes are dealt with form different angles at different times) and embedding of the detailed sub process descriptions (input and output of the detailed sub process always connects to the superior level of description). It appears that observing these principles provides for very early practical results from process modeling. It is thus possible to address some immediate concerns of the organization's functions -- management of organizational change, FMEA process, ensuring legal and contractual compliance etc. A section of the thesis deals with evaluating the maturity of processes. A set of criteria is proposed in analogy to the COBIT method of maturity assessment, A sample process is evaluated using this set of criteria The organization under review is part of the automotive supply chain, observing the principles of lean operation -- namely the pull principle. Interesting analogies exist between this principle being observed in the flow of material and handling of information. Instances are being shown where the non-observance of the pull principle creates problems and some solutions in practical process modeling are suggested to overcome these.

Copyright protection of databases
Kohutová, Radka ; Křesťanová, Veronika (referee) ; Holcová, Irena (advisor)
NÁZEV DIPLOMOVÉ PRÁCE A JEJÍ RESUMÉ V JAZYCE ANGLICKÉM (ENGLISH SUMMARY) The name of the thesis: The Legal Protection of databases. What is the value of information? This is the crucial question that arises in relation to the legal protection of databases. The rise of new media created a brand new world that we labeled the information society and whose most valuable asset has become totally interconnected with quality and speed. Hand in hand with this rapid transformation came the power of digitalization, which has permitted the dramatic speeding up of the transfer of data and information, while offering an almost indefinite amount of storage space, consequently making unauthorized and unlawful copying of data simple and efficient. As a result the form of a database has been transformed. Information and communication technologies (ICTs) have constantly influenced industry and commerce at all stages and levels and thus the development of the database industry has become crucial for the information society. In other words, society has literally become dependent on the use of different kinds of databases. We encounter them everywhere-from public listings, libraries, telephone listings to free-time activities such are sports databases. Nevertheless, progress in new technologies also carries the new threat of...

Prague's cyrilists and their relation to Regensburger cecilianism. Notices to the correspondence of Prague's cyrilists to F. X. Witt
Beránková, Anna ; Gabrielová, Jarmila (referee) ; Slavický, Tomáš (advisor)
The objective of this work is to describe the situation and course of events in the field of Catholic liturgical music in Bohemia and, in particular, in Prague in the 1870s and 1880s. These twenty years are only a part of a larger timeframe, often called the Caecilian Movement, in connection with a church music reform which touched all of Central Europe. Especially in the 1870s, the Czech lands had a close connection with Bavarian Regensburg, being the centre and model of reform efforts for the whole of Central Europe. In addition to collaborations of Prague and Regensburg reformers, vivid correspondence connections were established between them. And namely the letters of the Prague so-called "Cyrillists" addressed to the leading mover of the reform in Regensburg - Franz Xaver Witt - are the main source for this work. These letters, which had been unknown in our country until now, can be found in the Central Bishop Library in Regensburg, together with a twinvolume catalogue containing a detailed list of the letters. Based on these letters, this work shows and comments in more detail the already known data about the respective time period. This work also contains a full wording of the letters from selected correspondence partners of F. X. Witt, together with an index of persons, mentioned herein.

Objective-C programming language and suitability of language inclusion in education
Demčák, Marek ; Pecinovský, Rudolf (advisor) ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (referee)
This thesis describes a programming language Objective-C, which is the primary programming language for Mac OS X, and assesses the suitability of language inclusion in education. The aim of the first part is to provide the reader with a basic explanation of the language syntax so as to be able to understand what is written for code. After reading this thesis, the reader should have enough information to decide whether he would enjoy programming in Objective-C or not. Thesis does not aim to teach the reader in Objective-C language to create custom applications, mainly due to very limited description of the class libraries (Cocoa, Cocoa Touch), whose knowledge is essential for building real applications. However, this thesis should be a good starting point for all people interested in Objective-C and should refer them to appropriate literature. In the second part, I assess the suitability of language inclusion in education from 10 points of view (criteria). The aim of this part is to provide enough arguments for a decision, whether it is the good idea to provide tuition of Objective-C language or not. Some of the points of view are: basic confrontation of Objective-C with other programming languages (mainly Java and C#), assessing compliance of Objective-C language with the principles of object-oriented programming, review of Xcode IDE, analysis of demand for Objective-C programmers in the Czech Republic and analysis of students' interest in learning Objective-C by online (only students at University of Economics, Prague). The conclusion summarizes the most important properties of the language, its greatest benefits and drawbacks. I have also described the profile of a "typical" programmer in Objective-C, based on evaluated criteria.

Was Staša Jílovská a modernist translator?
Bernasová, Mariana ; Heczková, Libuše (referee) ; Kalivodová, Eva (advisor)
The aim of this thesis was to portray Staša Jílovská (b. February 20 1898 Vienna - d. July 8 1955 Prague) as an independent personality and not through the eyes of her lifelong friend Milena Jesenská or her partner Adolf Hoffmeister - and to confirm or refute the three above mentioned postulates. Due to the absence of any monographs on Staša and an insufficient number of papers dealing - even remotely - with the subject, the search for source documents in libraries as well as in public and private archives was arduous. Ultimately the outcome of nearly all my indepth research was the realization that material on Staša is not to be found in libraries. Consequently, I had to create the bibliography for the first part of this thesis myself. Therefore I consider it equal in importance to the second part, which deals predominantly with the analyses of the extracts of two translated novels. A question thoroughly addressed, but only partially answered, is, why Staša has been neglected in academic literature (or in any kind of literature for that matter). Her decline into oblivion is a mystery, for she was one of the leading personalities of the First Czechoslovak Republic (1918 - 1938). She edited the Vest Pocket Revue, was a close collaborator and friend of Voskovec and Werich, icons of the new, interwar culture -...

Gradient Boosting Machine and Artificial Neural Networks in R and H2O
Sabo, Juraj ; Bašta, Milan (advisor) ; Plašil, Miroslav (referee)
Artificial neural networks are fascinating machine learning algorithms. They used to be considered unreliable and computationally very expensive. Now it is known that modern neural networks can be quite useful, but their computational expensiveness unfortunately remains. Statistical boosting is considered to be one of the most important machine learning ideas. It is based on an ensemble of weak models that together create a powerful learning system. The goal of this thesis is the comparison of these machine learning models on three use cases. The first use case deals with modeling the probability of burglary in the city of Chicago. The second use case is the typical example of customer churn prediction in telecommunication industry and the last use case is related to the problematic of the computer vision. The second goal of this thesis is to introduce an open-source machine learning platform called H2O. It includes, among other things, an interface for R and it is designed to run in standalone mode or on Hadoop. The thesis also includes the introduction into an open-source software library Apache Hadoop that allows for distributed processing of big data. Concretely into its open-source distribution Hortonworks Data Platform.
