Gradovová, Irina ; KUBICA, Petr (advisor) ; ŠERÝ, Ladislav (referee)
Thesis The Mockumentary is dedicated to the issues of questioning credibility of audio and video messages broadcasted through audiovisual media. Mockuments are trying, through the methods of documentary and fictitous content, to uncover manipulative approach of audiovisual products and they are often mocking documentary itself. The represantation of reality is the most important common issue of the documentary and the mockumentary. For the appreciatation of the mockument is necessary to have a spectator acquanted with historical, cultural and political context of the piece, the spectator which is capable to uncover its hidden content more tightly allied with the reality than with the fiction.

Potočný, Tomáš ; KUBICA, Petr (advisor) ; GOGOLA, Jan (referee)
This master thesis deals with travel documentaries. It presents the genre's basic definitions and briefly describes its history from the beginning of cinematography up to now, with a special focus on current Czech and foreign TV series. Filming and post-production dramaturgical rules and production limits are described in the case study of television series Na cestě, and their resulting impact on the show's traits is analyzed. The outcomes of television rating and viewer satisfaction measurements are also dealt with; moreover, based on the available data, a viewer profile is outlined, attempting to deduce what his visions and expectations are. As a contrast with TV production, the paper includes two creative documentaries, which characteristics also fit the travel genre: Notebook from China, by Danish director Jorgen Leth, and Šimon Špidla's Into Oblivion. The study compares their style and ways of narration, draws a comparison with series' features, and aims to answer whether or not the conditions of TV series production enable creative travel filmmaking.

Four feature-length documentaries (The Advertisement, Czech Dream, The Yes Men Fix the World, The Ambassador) are then analysed, regarding the relation of both of the aspects of deception, as well as the information value of the films, language of film and limits caused by individual approaches. The question of ethics is discussed in the end.
Trans narrative
Machajová, Dana ; BENDOVÁ, Helena (advisor) ; POSPISZYL, Tomáš (referee)
In my thesis I compare various trans* representations in fiction films, documentary films, TV series and video journals on the internet. I assume, that projections of trans* people differ in stories they tell, depending on media in which they are constructed. Most of the visible trans* stories in media are "being reborn to the right body testimonies (in opposition to the wrong body given at birth)". This is connected to the legislative rules one must follow if he/she wants to have his/her gender reassigned. Trans* activists in global context take steps closer to legislative changes that lead to bigger tolerance and freedom of gender expression. In analysis of characters of seven fiction films, three TV series, four documentaries, one reality show and work of three trans* video bloggers, I demonstrate, that the representation of trans* identities in mainstream media space is reductive and works within strict rules. These rules relate to pathological default setting of the trans* status. On the other hand, the more authentic the material is, the wider variety of stories we see..
