Analysis of selected allergens in fragrances
Koláčková, Adéla ; Janoušková, Eva (referee) ; Zemanová, Jana (advisor)
This thesis is focused on potentially allergenic substances (PASs) in cosmetics. Their specific features, methods of control and observation are described. There are also mentioned dermatology problems connected with usage of perfumed cosmetic products in which the allergenic ingredients can be found and possibilities of their regulation. Fragrances are mixtures of natural or synthetic character which give the aroma. In nature, fragrances are produced mainly by plants. More than one hundred fragrances have been identified as allergens. Twenty six of them were declared as PASs. Allergenic components of perfume compositions are the main cause of allergic contact dermatitis. Experimental part of the thesis is focused on the procedure of analysis of specific allergenic fragrances (?-Amylcinnamaldehyde, Anisealcohol, Benzylsalicylate, Cinnamaldehyde, ?-Hexylcinnamaldehyde, 7-Hydroxycitronellal and Methyl-2-octynoate). Headspace-Solid Phase Microextraction connected with Gas Chromatography-Flame Ionisation Detector (HS-SPME-GC-FID) was used for extraction, analysis and identification of these substances. The method was validated and applied on the spectrum of real samples of cosmetic products.
Study of preservative systems for cosmetics
Šmétková, Zuzana ; Vítová, Eva (referee) ; Zemanová, Jana (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis was to prove the antimicrobial actvivity of the selected syntetic preservatives used in cosmetics, such as methylparaben, butylparaben, phenoxyethanol, bronopol, imidazolidinyl urea and methylisothaizolinone, in different concentrations (up to the highest permitted concentration and in increased concentrations), and of some essential oils, which are possible to use in cosmetics (essential oil from Eucalyptus globulus, Pimpinella anisum, Lavandula officinalis, Rosmarinus officinalis, Foeniculum vulgare, Mentha piperita, Juniperus communis and Pinus sylvestris). The effect was investigated in every preservative system alone, in order to evaluate the spectrum and the rate of each one. As indicator microorganism was chosen Bacillus subtilis and Penicillium chrysogenum. The used methods was disk difusion method and modify difusion method. From synthetic preservatives had the best effects bronopol, imidazolidinyl urea and methylisothiazolinone. From chosen natural antimicrobails had the effect against both indicator microorganisms the Mentha piperita, Foeniculum vulgare and Juniperus communis extracts.
Humic acids in medicine and cosmetics
Šmídová, Helena ; Sýkorová,, Ivana (referee) ; Pekař, Miloslav (advisor)
The main concern of this study was to form a web and literature search focused on the known theoretical knowledge, patent application and the actual realization, for the use of humic acids or material containing humic acids in human and veterinary medicine and cosmetics. The output is also a proposal to be promising directions in exploring these areas. The introduction deals with humic substances in general with emphasis on humic acids, history of humic chemistry and structure of humic substances. The second part deals with medical aspects, pharmacological effects and the use of humic substances in human medicine, veterinary medicine and cosmetics, also takes account of humic substances from the perspective of the environment. The task of third experimental part was to learn the basics of isolation and characterization of humic acids (measurement of IR and UV / VIS spectra and determination of moisture and ash in samples of humic acids).
Less conventional botanical sources of cosmetic raw materials
Novotná, Petra ; Vespalcová, Milena (referee) ; Zemanová, Jana (advisor)
The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is an investigation of use of less traditional plant sources in cosmetic industry. This derivate can by used as an accessory material in cosmetics and foods preparations, especially in the preparations that contain oil or fats, because as a lipophilic compound keeps them from getting rancid.
Fragrances of plant origin
Koláčková, Adéla ; Vítová, Eva (referee) ; Zemanová, Jana (advisor)
This thesis describes specifications of fragrances of plant origin, their origin and usage, methods of obtaining and ways of use them in cosmetics. Aroma of blossom and other parts of plants is created by essential oils. From the whole number of 295 families of plants for about a third of them contains essentials oils which can be used in industry. More than 100 fragrances has been identified as allergens. Parfumed products allergies are relatively common. In connection of this problem synthetic alternatives of natural fragrances of plant origin are producing. In this way allergens are and also they will be widely discussed problem.
Occurence of potential alergenic components with metal content in cosmetic preparations
Krakovková, Lenka ; Janoušková, Eva (referee) ; Zemanová, Jana (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to summarize potential allergenic metals contained in cosmetics, make an overview of raw materials used for cosmetics, and describe types of allergenic reactions caused by potential allergenic metals. All the metals presented are divided into two groups, from which one contains established allergens and the other one contains potential allergens, which can have influence on inducing of an allergetic reaction. There is shown a possible allergenic reaction for each metal, and its possible occurence in raw materials for a production of cosmetics, which are discussed in this work as well. There are also shown methods for determining the amount of metals in cosmetics. In the conclusion, there are mentioned some reasons of monitoring potencial allergens from series of metals.
