Work with left-handed pupil at the beginning of the school attendence
Uhlířová, Petra ; Linková, Marie (advisor) ; Kropáčková, Jana (referee)
This thesis deals with the laterality and the ways of diagnosis at children. It is divided into three parts - theoretical, practical and appendixes. The theoretical part deals with laterality, methods of diagnostic and methodology of work with left-handed pupil at the beginning of the school attendance. The aim of research in the practical part of the thesis was to find information about working with left-handed pupils between the students of primary teaching and teachers in practise. The appendixes of this thesis include the questionnaires used for the practical part of the thesis and worksheets for pupils to relax their hand while writing.
Motor performance of pupils with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Otipková, Zuzana ; Lejčarová, Alena (advisor) ; Musálek, Martin (referee)
Title: Motor performance of pupils with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Objectives: The aim of the work was to determine the level of fine and gross motor skills of upper extremities of the pupils with diagnosis ADHD at schools specialized on these pupils and compare it with the fine and gross motor skills of upper extremities of children without this diagnosis at common elementary school. Further work objective was to determine the level of gross motor skills of lower limbs and laterality of paired organs (hand - foot) within above mentioned groups of pupils. Methods: To determine the level of fine and gross motor skills of upper extremities, gross motor skills of lower limbs, laterality of the upper and lower extremities of the pupils with and without ADHD aged 9-11 years we used these types of tests: "Spiral", "Dotting test", "Beads" (the level of fine motor skills of the upper extremities); "Pack", "Small plate tapping", "Big plate tapping" (the level of gross motor skills of upper extremities); "Tapping the leg" (the level of gross motor skills of the lower limbs); "Typing out the Rhythm" (the laterality of the lower limbs); "Bell" and "Matches" (the laterality of the upper extremities). Results: The fine motor level of dominant hand was in the case of ADHD diagnosed pupils...
Diagnosis of laterality in the school environment
Šnajdrová, Veronika ; Vítečková, Michaela (advisor) ; Krykorková, Hana (referee)
This bachelor thesis contains theoretical principals of expressions of the dominance of the brain hemispheres - laterality. It solves the development of laterality, its genotype and phenotype, levels, laterality types and species, refers to the educational consequences of the improper educational influence on genotype laterality and subsequent corrections. It also deals with the diagnosis of laterality, especially from a position of a teacher. The basic idea of this work is to support the natural development of a child through appropriate laterality effects on the child, specifically a student diagnosed with dysphasia.
Role of laterality in agonistic behaviour of red deer II
Jirsová, Adéla ; Bartoš, Luděk (advisor) ; Kouba, Marek (referee)
The theoretical part of this diploma thesis deals with the role of brain laterality of red deer (Cervus elaphus) in agonistic behaviour. Therefore, the largest part of the review of published scientific outcome is devoted to the agonistic behaviour, namely it focuses on the fights between males during the autumn rut. Battles are strictly ritualized and males adhere to strict rules. The role of laterality in animals is being recently studied and the outcomes so far indicates that, particularly in agonistic interactions the laterality may play a significant role. Brain lateralization is simply a preference for one or the other hemisphere in certain activities. The main topic of this thesis is how laterality affects combat of red deer. The research part took place in a deer-park Zátoň where the duels between stags in rut were recorded. We also used videos from farms Podlesko and Žalany and a deer-park Milešov. These records were processed in the program Noldus Observes, with emphasis placed on the facts which deer was the initiator of the fight and his position to opponent, or with which eye the opponent was perceived at the beginning, but also during the fight. Data were statistically evaluated in SAS software (version 9.4., SAS Institute Inc.). We observed a strong tendency that the winner also initiates the interaction. Chance, that the winner will be the initiator, was compared to recipient 15 times higher. Initiator estimates his option in the battle to win, so he does not let the duel quit before it comes to physical confrontation. Regardless of the character of the behaviour initiator approached his rival more likely on right eye. There was statistically significant demonstrated initiator access to the recipient from the right side in parallel walk as well as in direct physical engagement. As stags train fights during the whole year, so even in the rut are information processed by the left hemisphere, which controls the routine affairs. We can say, that the deer fights during the rut are so frequent, when applies the routine of using antlers as a weapons and therefore we observe right side preference.
Affect of standing frames on muscle activity of lower extremities
Oravová, Pavlína ; Ronzhina, Marina (referee) ; Kolářová, Jana (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is focused on affect of standing frames on muscle activity of lower extremities. It deals with problematics of electromyography and signal processing. It follows up measuring EMG signal via wireless electrodes Wave Plus on verticalization equipment Balance Trainer and muscles of the lower extremities physiology, which were picked up for practical part of measurement. Part of this thesis is measuring protocol. Futhermore, the captured data is processed by programming interface MATLAB and evaluated in discussion.
Graphomotorics of preschool children and its development before entering elementary school.
KOCOVÁ, Ilona
This bachelor thesis focuses on the level of graphic motoric skills of children in the pre-school age and elimination of difficulties in this area. The thesis consists of two parts theoretical and practical. The theoretical part characterizes pre-school child, explains the concept of motoric skills and laterality. It is engaged in the development of drawing by pre-school children and by the proper grip of writing instruments including exercise and proper fixation of position at working desk. The second practical part describes the process of graphomotorics course and includes case studies of children and analysis of their drawings and fictitious fonts before and after graphomotorics course.
The Problems in Writing of Left-handed Pupils
HERWIGOVÁ, Kateřina
The thesis "The Problems in Writing of Left-handed Pupils" is focused on the dificulties in the first steps of writing of left-handed children in primary schools. The thesis is divided into two parts. In the theoretic part we deal with the laterality and the left-handness in general. Further we deal with the development of left-handness in the history and nowadays and first of all with the development of motor skills of the left-handed children in the preschool age. The next aim is to chart the difficulties in the preschool period and the potencional problems in writing. The main part of our thesis is focused on the correct methodological help with writing in the first class in primary schools. The other part of our thesis is practical part. In this part we focus on the analysis of the writing edacation for the left-handed pupils in the first classes in the schools in Central Bohemian Region. We studied the quantity of the left-handed boys and the left-handed girls, the correct holding of writing tools, the slope of paper, the slope of letters, the correct sitting, the using of ergonomic tools and the using of pens or pencils.
Vliv stájové teploty na ležení a stání dojnic holštýnského skotu ve volném boxovém ustájení
Křístková, Jana
The subject of this thesis was to evaluate the influence of stable temperature for lying and standing cows of Holstein cattle in free boxing housing. Observation was carried out on the Milk farm Lubina s.r.o., in the course of one calendar year, in winter and summer season (February to August). The reference factor was primarily Stable temperature, as well as seasons, milk production of dairy cows and lactation. Evaluation of behavioral symptoms was centered mainly on relaxation behavior of dairy cows and cos lying on laterality Statistical evaluation was done in STATISTICA 10.0. Based on the results we can say that Stable temperature or other examined factors do not affect the cows lying and standing. In particular temperature ranges more cows lay than stand and the preferences were left lying position.
Laterality and wages: Is there a price premium for the left-handers?
Jakubcová, Klára ; Komrska, Martin (advisor) ; Babin, Jan (referee)
This thesis empirically examines the influence of laterality on wages in the Czech Republic. I gathered cross-sectional data using a questionnaire. In general there is an expectation of the left-handers to be underpaid. The reason for this is the unavailability of specific tools adapted to be used by the left-handed workers which results in lower productivity of work. The first tested hypothesis argues that left-handed men achieve wage premium due to better creative abilities. The second hypothesis suggests that the wages of left-handed women are penalized compared to those of right-handed women. To test the hypotheses the process of estimating regression equations by the method of least squares was used. Neither hypothesis was confirmed using my basic models. On the contrary, the results suggest that the left-handers should have in average 6,6 % lower wages than right-handers and left-handed women about 4 % higher wages than the right-handed women. However, the statistical significance of laterality variables was not confirmed in the basic models. After splitting the dataset according to the highest education achieved the results were as follows: The left-handed male workers with the university degree have 14 % higher hourly wage than the right-handed workers with same attributes. The left-handed male workers with secondary education and lower degree of education have 43 % lower hourly wage than the right-handed (There was no influence observed in case of left-handed women).
