Meander Publishing House and Media Reflection of Edition Blue Elephant

This Master Thesis is about Meander publishing house and media reflection of three choosen titles from edition Blue Elephant. Theoretical part of this thesis introduces the development of publishing houses after the fall of communism in 1989, the development of the literature for children and youth, phenomenon of bilderbuch and the change of reading habits and reader's environment. The analytical part introduces the Meander publishing house and its edition Blue Elephant. Key artist for this edition is Petr Nikl, who is Meander's court artist as well. The analysis of media was performed on titles Záhádky by Petr Nikl, Jělěňovití by Petr Nikl and The Little's Man Great Journey by Lenka Uhlířová and Jiří Stach. The analysed media are literary and cultural magazines, newspapers and digital media.
Children's Books and Media Convergence

This thesis focuses on the children's literature and the cross-medial approach to storytelling for children. The topic is seen in the context of the Czech Republic and the German-speaking part of Switzerland. The aim of this thesis is to understand the relation between the children's literature and the cross-platform approach to the children's story from the point of view and an experience of book publishers, professionals on the children's media and the media in the life of children and children themselves. Within the frame of the cross-national social research was used the method of in-depth interviews with the adult participants and the method of focus groups with the children. According to the results of the research is neither the market environment nor the attitude of the society in the Czech Republic or Switzerland ideal for creating the children's cross-media contents, but the situation is slowly changing and it is possible that the share of the cross-platform contents created for children by the local authors will increase in the future.
The Children and Youth Olympics in the Czech Republic in the sports, economy and marketing sphere

Title: The Children and Youth Olympics in the Czech Republic in the sports, economy and marketing sphere Objectives: The main aim of this work is to analyse all the available documents of all the individual Children and Youth Olympics in the Czech Republic from 2003 to 2013 in the sports, economy and marketing sphere. Methods: Dissertation is divided into three parts based on data from relevant Czech Olympic Comittee documents. The first part is primarily about sport and analyses success of the Children and Youth Olympics athletes at International Games. The second part focuses on budget of particulars Games. And the third part contains analysis of marketing support - partnership, media support, merchandising and information leaflets. Results: We can observe positive results at all three areas - sports, economy and marketing. The Children and Youth Olympics s based on strong platform that helps to spread olympic idea among young people in the Czech Republic. Proposals and recommendations for future Games are based on detailed analysis and evaluation of all three parts. A Book on its way from Manuscript to the Reader

This thesis deals with the phenomenon of the book as crucial means of communication of the author (of the artistic and non-artistic) text with the reader. The material object book is examined in detail as a product, goods and object of the aesthetic interest. The work focuses primarily on the following questions: What is happening with the text from the moment of the manuscript submission to the publisher until the moment when is held in reader's hands for the first time? What subjects, institutions or interests are entering (or may enter) the game during the production, distribution and sale of the book and what is their particular role? What is the form and function of graphical and peritextual components of the book? All questions are answered in regard to the current state of Czech literary culture.
ISBN system in the Czech Republic

This bachelor thesis is aimed to introduce several different aspects of the identifier ISBN, with emphasis on the Czech Republic. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and analytical one. Introductory chapter defines the need of identification of information sources. It provides information about properties and division of identifier, too. Next part of the work is already focused on the identifier ISBN. It represents this identifier with regards to historical and organizational aspects. This part also analyzes the actual structure of the ISBN number. Furthermore, the bachelor thesis is devoted mainly to the usage of the ISBN identifier in the Czech Republic. It outlines the historical development and specific use in this country. The following part of work is strictly practical - attempts to analyze the usage of ISBN identifier in several information institutions. The final part of this bachelor thesis offers a summary of the main propositions and outlines possible future problems of the ISBN system.
Magazines dedicated to golf questions

Diploma thesis "Magazines dedicated to golf issues" is devoted to questions of publishing golf magazines in former Czechoslovakia and in the Czech Republic. The key aim of this work is based on detailed mapping of all journals devoted to this issue in the period since the establishment of Czechoslovakia until year 2011. This work records the detailed historical development of golf in the Czech Republic, points out all problems that hit the golf during 20th century. Single chapters are devoted to all golf journals which had been published in former Czechoslovakia and ones which have been published in the Czech Republic. Significant space is devoted to magazines Slovanský golf and Sportovní Revue which were published during the First republic era. Further chapters mention post-war periodicals, and the last part of this work includes all golf magazines, which have been published after the Velvet revolution.
Books as a medium and their role in contemporary world - paper or screen?

The purpose of this work is to analyze the newly grown phenomenon of electronic books and electronic publishing, to map consequences of e-books in relation to paper books and to describe its pros and cons. Also, this work tries to compare ebook readers presently available on Czech market, and to make a comparison of most frequently used e-book formats. The future of e-books in the Czech Republic can be inestimable, but this work gives the opinions of some Czech publishers, booksellers and authors, trying to suggest how the future may look like.
Support of marketing through social networks

The goal of the diploma thesis "Support of marketing through social networks" is to pro-vide an overall series of recommendations for editorial staff of magazines and similar journals how to proceed in communication on social networks. Afterwards, these recom-mendations are applied to a specific title, Exclusive magazine. The practical part contains an introduction and analysis of communication on social networks. Based on the analysis of communication magazine Exclusive, and an analysis of the competition is designed a proposal of how to improve the use of social networks in the communication mix of the mentioned journal. The theoretical part describes the possibilities of online marketing and online PR with a focus on social media and networks.
