Labor aspects from the perspective of ethics and Christianity, developing countries workers' protection projects

In this dissertation I am analysing certain aspects of labour, especially the ones that are of significant interest to moral philosophy within the church and its catholic doctrine. In the same time I identify the foundation for freedom and dignity of labouring human being that are being degraded especially in the present time economisation process. Further, I outline the issues associated with the changes within the division of labour from industrial revolution to present day and in the same time I present issues connected with labouring human being vs. human capital. Because freedom is the foundation of humanity I also describe issues connected with human rights in the context of universal and natural law. In this way I analyse Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its defence in an intercultural environment. Lastly, besides those theoretical concepts, I evaluate an Amnesty International CR project called "Business That is Worth It" which aims at supporting companies to a responsible management of employees rights protection especially in developing countries.

Analysis of Specific Space in the 19th Century Anglo-American Literature

This thesis aims to analyse the specific space of Anglo-American Gothic fiction in the 18th and 19th century. The first part of the thesis deals with various aspects of Gothic fiction from a theoretical viewpoint. It contains the two possible concepts of the "Gothic". It lists typical features of the Gothic fiction and gives a brief overview of its development. Then, a crucial typology of space according to Vseticka and Pavera is introduced, as well as Mikhail Bachtin's related term chronotope. The theoretical part concludes with the reflection of the subversive nature of the Gothic fiction and its relation to similarly unconventional approaches of psychoanalysis and gender studies. The practical part of the thesis applies the aforementioned space typology to ten works of English and American Gothic fiction from 1764-1897, with short profiles of the respective writers in each chapter.

The Influence of the Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation on Pain in Burnt Patients

SOUHRN Název práce: Ovlivnění bolesti transkutánní elektrickou neurostimulací u popálenin Cíl práce: Cílem této diplomové práce je poukázat na možnosti využití transkutánní elektrické neurostimulace (TENS) v léčbě popálenin, potvrdit předpoklad, že aplikací TENS dojde ke snížení vnímané bolesti, sledovat analgetický účinek v čase a dále pak sledovat další možné účinky TENS u popáleného pacienta v post-akutním období. Metoda: Tato práce byla zpracována formou kazuistiky. V teoretické části jsou shrnuty poznatky o stavbě a funkci kůže, popáleninovém traumatu, neurofyziologii a teorii bolesti. Dále je uveden přehled teorie transkutánní elektrické neurostimulace. V praktické části byla vybranému pacientovi aplikována transkutánní elektrická neurostimulace. Tento pacient byl 32 dní po autotransplantaci kůže ventrální plochy paže a předloktí pro popálení 3 % tělesného povrchu, III. stupeň. Fyzikální terapie mu byla doporučena pro bolesti a parestezie transplantovaných ploch. Terapie probíhala 3-5krát týdně do celkového počtu 15 procedur. Hodnocení intenzity a charakteru bolesti provedl pacient před 1. terapií a po skončení 15. terapie formou vizuálních analogových škál (VAS) a krátkou formou dotazníku bolesti McGillovy univerzity (SF-MPQ). Aerodynamic Characteristics Identification of Atmospheric Airplane from Flight Measurement Results

The thesis deals with aerodynamic characteristics identification from flight measurement. The topic is part of flight mechanic – handling qualities. The first theoretic part consists of three identification methods description: Error equation method, Output error method and Filter error method. Mathematical model of an airplane is defined and restricted to the motion with 3 degree of freedom. There is also introduced simulation of flight measurement for identification software validation. Practical part is focused on experiment preparation, execution and evaluation. The airplane VUT 700 Specto had been chosen to carry out flight tests. The airplane was modified to the new electric powered VUT 700e Specto after first measurement flights with combustion engine. Data record from on-board measurement unit was completed by telemetric data from autopilot and remote control system. Flight tests were carried out in stabilised mode of autopilot in symmetric flight. The results were confronted with analytical analysis results and DATCOM+ software parameter estimation.

Monetary Policy of FED during the Great Depression

Diplomová práce vystihuje vývoj hospodářství v USA v souvislosti s vývojem světovým a jeho vliv na jednu z nejtěžších krizí v kapitalistických dějinách, a to z pohledu ekonomické teorie rakouské školy. Především popsuje vznik Federálního reservního systému a zhodnocuje jeho politiku, včetně jejího vlivu na hospodářský cyklus. Jakým způsobem se poté cyklický vývoj americké ekonomiky promítl do finančního sektoru v USA ve 20. a 30. letech 20. století. Dále popisuje vývoj finančních trhů, investorské prostředí a vliv monetární politiky na chod celého hospodářství. Vystihuje vývoj Velké deprese, její příčiny, průběh a důsledky, které se projevily ve finančním sektoru a bankovnictví a jakou měrou se na intenzitě Velké deprese podílel Federální reservní systém. Objasňuje vývoj hospodářské politiky prezidentů Hoovera a Franklina Delano Roosevelta, s jejím vlivem na ekonomický, resp. finanční systém, a pokouší se analyzovat tehdejší bankovní soustavu. Stěžejním bodem této práce jsou "Bankovní prázdniny" jako monetární opatření, v rámci souboru hospodářsko-politických opatření známé pod názvem "New Deal", realizované z rozhodnutí prezidenta Roosevelta. Stalo se toto monetární opatření úspěšným a může být považováno za východisko z krize? Práce dále vystihuje příčiny tohoto monetárního opatření, čím bylo vyvoláno, jakou mělo strukturu, jak se projevovalo v oblasti finančních trhů a zda bylo ekonomicky efektivní či zda způsobilo hospodářské problémy. Nakonec poukazuje na důsledky ?Bankovních prázdnin?, které se staly přínosným ponaučením pro budoucnost v oblasti finančních trhů, ale také poukázaly na hrozby, které s sebou mohou intervenční opatření nést, a zda je možné obávat se podobné události v budoucnu? Závěrem nastiňuje diplomová práce obavu týkající se ekonomické svobody lidí, jejich rozhodování a možnou paralelu se současností.

Transfer of the Seat of the Company within the European Union

Subject of this thesis are contemporaneous possibilities for companies to transfer their seat outside the state of incorporation. Recently, there has been a dramatic development in private law as well as in national company laws, mainly because of the judgements of the Court of Justice of the European Union. Corporate mobility comprises the possibility to transfer a company from one state to another. Crucial issue is the transfer of the seat of the company in connection with the freedom of establishment. The Court had already given rulings on the transfer of company's seat in several judgments; however, this thesis concerns particularly the latest judgment - Cartesio. In this case the Court dealt with the question whether the freedom of establishment governed by the European law shall be interpreted broad enough to include the right of companies to transfer their real seat (their head office) or their legal and real seats (their registered seat and head office) from one member state of the EU to another. The key question is, whether the Cartesio judgment contributed to the corporate mobility and if so, the scope of such contribution. Facebook and the elections. The analysis of a self-presentation of the Czech political parties before the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2010

The elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic on 28th and 29th May 2010 was called Facebook elections. The reason for such title was the scale of usage of Facebook by the political parties for their campaigns. The thesis Facebook and the elections. The analysis of a self-presentation of the Czech political parties before the elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2010 focuses on a semiotic analysis of Facebook accounts of some political parties and their chairmen. During the monitored period Facebook presentations were presented by the Civic Democratic Party, the Czech Social Democratic Party, TOP 09, the Public Affairs party, Christian Democratic Union - Czechoslovak People's Party and the Greens. The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia was not officially registered on Facebook. We also analyzed Facebook pages of Mirek Topolanek (ODS), Petr Necas (ODS), Jiri Paroubek (CSSD), Karel Schwarzenberg (TOP 09), Radek John (VV), Cyril Svoboda (KDU-CSL) and Ondrej Liska (SZ). Využití vícerozměrných metod pro rozbor ukazatele ekonomické svobody

Práce si klade za cíl nalézt nejlepší způsob souhrnné kvantifikace všech dílčích složek, představované vybraným ukazatelem ekonomické svobody. Dále jsou nastíněny možné způsoby nahlížení na ekonomickou svobodu. Pozornost je věnována historickému vývoji této teorie, ale především i samotné koncepci ukazatele ekonomické svobody. Vícerozměrná analýza dat, za určitých podmínek umožňující vyhledání jednoho z nejvhodnějších způsobů vyjádření celkové úrovně ekonomické svobody, představuje aplikaci metody hlavních komponent na aktuálních datech za země zahrnuté do této analýzy z hlediska jednotlivých prvků souhrnného ukazatele. Hlavní přínos práce nespočívá ve vyčerpávajícím zachycení celé problematiky, nýbrž v poskytnutí ucelené představy o ní a seznámení čtenáře s podstatnými souvislostmi spojenými s teorií ekonomické svobody a úsilím o její kvantifikaci. Práce je strukturována do tří částí. První dvě tvoří východisko pro třetí část empirickou. První část zachycuje všechny důležité aspekty ekonomické svobody. Druhá část popisuje teorii vícerozměrné metody, analýzy hlavních komponent. Část poslední je praktickým vyústěním směřujícím k nalezení způsobu měření celkové úrovně ekonomické svobody.

Capital Asset Price Modelling: Concept VAPM

The key objective of this thesis is the outline of an alternative capital market modeling framework, the Volatility Asset Pricing Model, VAPM, inspired by the innovative dual approach of Mandelbrot and Hudson using the method based on synthesis of two seemingly antagonistic factors -- the volatility of market prices and their serial dependence determining the capital markets' dynamics. The pilot tests of this model in various periods using the market index as well as a portfolio of selected securities delivered generally satisfactory results. Firstly, the work delivers a brief recapitulation regarding the concepts of a consumer/investor choice under general conditions of hypothetical certainty. Secondly, this outline is then followed by a description of the "classical" methodologies in the risky environment of uncertainty, with assessment of their corresponding key models, i.e. the CAPM, SIM, MIM, APTM, etc., notwithstanding results of the related testing approaches. Thirdly, this assessment is based on evaluation of the underlying doctrine of Efficient Market Hypothesis in relation to the so called Random Walk Model. Fourthly, in this context the work also offers a brief exposure to a few selected tests of these contraversial concepts. Fifthly, the main points of conteporary approaches such as the Fractal Dimension and the Hurst Exponent in the dynamic framework of information entropy are subsequently described as the theoretical tools leading to development of the abovementioned model VAPM. The major contribution of this thesis is considered its attempt to apply the abovementioned concepts in practice, with the intention to possibly inspire a further analytical research.
