Conflict in Colombia and its impacts on the neighbour countries

This work is dedicated to Colombia's conflict. Its objective is to sum up its implications on neighbour states. Venezuela, Ecuador, Brazil, Peru and Panama have to cope with the invasions of Colombia's guerrillas and paramilitary groups, waves of refugees who look for asylum in other countries in order to run away from acts of violence of their homeland or with increasing trend in cultivation of illicit crops. The United States of American intervenes significantly in the situation by trying with Plan Colombia to lower the quantity of cocaine coming from this region to American's markets. Brief conflict's development and characteristics of its actors, analysis of the relations among countries within the conflict and 3 possible scenarios of future development are used to achieve the main objective of the work.
Economic, political and social impacts of oil exports in selected countries with a focus on Venezuela

This thesis is focused on the influence of money, that comes from oil export, on economy, politics and society of selected oil exporting countries: Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Norway, Ira nand Equatorial Guinea. The first part characterizes oil, its extraction, reserves, flows, and consumption . The influence of oil on economy, politics and society is explained on the example of Venezuela in the second chapter. In the third part the effects in the other countries are compared. The key question is: Is the oil wealth advantage or disadvantage for the country?

21st century socialism in Hugo Chavez's program and realpolitik

This bachelor thesis is concerned with the program of 21st century socialism in Venezuela and with its practical application in politics of Hugo Chavez. The main objective is to determine whether a real transformation of Venezuelan society is taking place with the goal of establishing 21st century socialism or whether this concept is used by Chavez as mere rhetoric to obtain votes. The first chapter describes the most important events leading up to the election of Hugo Chavez's as the President. The second chapter deals with the program of 21st century socialism as presented to the population of Venezuela. Its content is analyzed in terms of political transition, social policy, economic policy and foreign policy. Chapter three then looks for similarities and differences between this program and the actual policies of Hugo Chavez, specifically in the four aforementioned areas.
The economic integration of Venezuela in the context of the new regionalism

Today's world is characterized by continuous globalization and increasing initiatives of states to unify in bigger units in order to face up to the world-wide competition. This bachelor thesis deals with the integration process in Venezuela. The aim of the thesis is to estimate future efforts of Venezuela concerning the formation of new regional integrations and, as well, to reveal the conditions of these attempts. The analysis of the economic situation of Venezuela being the matter of the first chapter serves as groundwork for given investigation. The description of foreign trade and political-economic relations with the other states of the world are the object of the second chapter. The third chapter focuses on the outline of Venezuela's position in the most relevant integration entities in the territory of Latin America. Venezuela is a very interesting country for such study because of its specificity in many ways. Oil industry is a powerful mover of the entire economy and it significantly influences the economic state of the country. Last but not least, the current president Hugo Chávez's policy plays a crucial role because he determines direction in which the country is about to turn and all this is carried out in his individual way.

This thesis investigates the influence of socialism on national economies, on orientation of foreign politics, on increasing cooperation of countries in Latin America. This thesis examines new geopolitical relations between Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Russia, Iran, China...My thesis tries to estimate the future development in Latin America.
Influence of Transnational Corporations on the Economies of Latin American Countries

Initially, the work describes the political and economical situation in the Latin American region with emphasis on the recent economic development of the region and the socioeconomic phenomena common for most local economies. The second part focuses on the general effects that transnational corporations' activities have on host economies. These effects are then demonstrated on concrete examples of Latin American countries. The third chapter has the form of a case study that deals with the role of transnational corporations during the economic development of Argentina with a stress on its last financial crisis (1999-2002).
The Impact of the Leftish Governments in Latin America on Economic Policies of the Countries

The present work characterizes economic policies of particular Latin American countries: Brazil, Chile (so called "light left"), Bolivia and Venezuela (so called "radical left" politically oriented countries). The economic policies implemented in particular countries are different. Brazil focuses on eradicating poverty through social programs. Chile orientates at social programs as well but aims at minimizing the differences between the rich and the poor. Policies of both radically oriented economies of Bolivia and Venezuela are focusing on nationalization of strategic industries and sectors. Further, the present work evaluates the policies in particular countries and compares the "light left" with "radical left" and analyses the sustainability and usability in a long term.
Authoritarianism in Latin America on example of Hugo Chávez

The main part of the thesis is analyzing the political system of Venezuelan government of Hugo Chávez and its classification between democratic, totalitarian political systems and authoritarianism. On the basis of an analysis of the changes in the country's political, economic and social structures between the years 1998 and 2009 and by using of an overview of the historical circumstances of the Latin American authoritarianism the thesis is trying to decide if the present Venezuelan political system could be classified as an authoritarianism or not. The thesis also includes the brief history of Latin America with accent on the time period of authoritarianism and the reasons for its numerous appearance, the rise of Hugo Chávez and the Venezuelan history before his election.

Práce analyzuje současnou politicko-ekonomickou situaci Bolívarovské republiky Venezuela. Širší záběr osvětluje politický vývoj v zemi od poloviny 20. století, nosným obdobím je však situace od druhé poloviny devadesátých let do současnosti. Instrumentem k charakteristice tohoto období je SWOT analýza slabých a silných stránek a následná načrtnutí možných příležitostí a hrozeb determinovaných jak současným stavem tak vnějšími vlivy působícími na tuto latinskoamerickou ropnou ekonomiku.
