Transforming of Executive Coalitions in Prague in the Electoral Period 2010-2014

The aim of this diploma thesis Transforming of Executive Coalitions in Prague in the Electoral Period 2010 - 2014 is to analyze influences, which have an important role in a process of establishing executive coalitions and also in their stability. The analysis is based on a classical theory of coalitions, discursive analysis, interviews with direct participants and on official documents. One of the aims is to describe the level of possibility in application of theoretical concepts of coalition theory in the area of Prague's political system. There are many points of view, from which we look at stability and forming of coalitions. For example, very important point of view is an influence of making and implementing politics or an influence of politicians from national level. A big importance is focused on negotiating between participants, their statements in media and their real steps and decisions. The intention of this thesis is not an invention of general model which should be applied on similar local system, but to explain and describe the uniqueness of Prague local system and the election period of 2010 - 2014.
The Velvet Revolution's influence on public life in Milevsko during 1989-1990 era

The thesis describes the political events initiated on November 17, 1989, which, after 42 years, led to the end of one-party rule and started the long process of democratization in Czechoslovakia. It analyzes the similarities and differences between the Milevsko policy and the national policy from November 17, 1989 to the June 1990 elections to the Federal Assembly and the Czech National Council. It describes how the democratization process, started with the Velvet Revolution in Prague, reflected in the public life of a small town. It answers questions like whether the political, economic and social changes in Milevsko were the initiative of its citizens, or those recommended by the revolutionary center in Prague? What was the attitude of Milevsko citizens towards these changes? Did they request replacement of politicians and municipal institutions as in Prague, or did they have specific requirements distinct from Prague?
Vote and Voting Behaviour of Citizen of the Town Lanškroun

This graduation thesis Vote and Voting Behaviour of Citizen of the Town Lanškroun deals with vote and voting behaviour of inhabitants, who have permanent residence in the town Lanškroun. In thesis the returns of particular elections to municipal government of the town are characterized from years 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. Subsequently the thesis is focused on the voting behaviour of the population. Informations about voting behaviour of citizen were obtained from performed questionnaire research. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part of graduation thesis is theoretical, which defines the basic concepts related to the topic of elections. It focuses mainly on concepts such as local democracy, local politics, vote and voting behaviour. The practical part focuses on the characteristics of the town Lanškroun, analyzes individual municipal vote and on the basis of results of the questionnaire results explains the voting behaviour of the population of Lanškroun.
Political aspects of local goverment. Elections and electoral behavior of citizens in the town of Nový Bydžov

The thesis addresses the issue of elections and electoral behavior of citizens in the town of Nový Bydžov. It is focused on assessment of factors that influence voting behavior of citizens in the town of Nový Bydžov. It describes the evolution of electoral behavior from 1994 to 2014 and verification of the applicability of the theory of electoral behavior for explanation of the electoral decision-making of the electorate in Nový Bydžov. The theoretical part addresses (describes) theoretical definition of areas that relate to the topic of the thesis. The practical part is a case study of Nový Bydžov. Subject of study is the town of Nový Bydžov, objects of study are the voters participating in the elections to the council of this city. To achieve the set goals (objectives) is recovered content of documents study (written records), a questionnaire survey, comparative methods and synthesis.
Political aspects of local government – political system of municipalities of Klatovy region

This diploma thesis is focused on the verification of the theory application coming from the conclusions of Stanislav Balíks thesis, which generalizes election behaviour during elections for local authority and it is based on an analysis of election facts in the regions of Šumperk and Jeseník. The aim of the thesis is to verify whether the theory conclusions are applicable to the results interpretation of election behaviour and the characteristics of the party system in other regions of the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part there is worked on the theoretical and legislative conclusions and Stanislav Balíks thesis. The thesis itself starts with the basic characteristics of the region of Klatovy, its administrative and demographic structuring. The core of the thesis is the data analysis of the Czech Statistical office, concerning the elections from 1994 to 2014. The attention is paid on voter turnout at municipality elections depending on different factors and the results of the elections are discussed in detail from the point of view of the suggesting parties and the number of women in municipality politics. The last chapters include a summary of the data from the region of Klatovy, it is compared with the results of Stanislav Balíks thesis and the application of his theory in another region in the Czech Republic is discussed.
Political Aspects of Local Government. Elections and Voting Behaviour of the Residents of the Town Kopidlno

The thesis is conceived as a case study. The main goal is to verify the applicability of the theory of voting behaviour in a specific sample of municipality voters in the Czech Republic. The object of the research is to determine which factors influenced the decision of voters in the municipal elections for the Town Council of Kopidlno in 2010 and 2014. The theoretical part deals with a description of the basic concepts primarily related to democracy, with a specific emphasis on the local character. The theoretical perspective further concerns with the issues of elections including characteristics of different kinds of electoral systems and accessible theories of voting behaviour. The practical part primarily characterizes the town of Kopidlno in historical, demographic and political perspective. Further, the study focuses on the local political entities. The following chapters summarize and analyze the results of the municipal elections in 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2014. The final part summarizes the results obtained in an independent questionnaire survey used as a research tool to analyse voting behaviour of the residents of Kopidlno.
Local Elections and Formation of Administration in Nový Bydžov (Case Study)

This thesis deals with municipal elections in Nový Bydžov and the formation of local authorities in 2014. The elections are evaluated both in terms of the development of the local political system, and in terms of the development at regional and national level of political verticals. The first part focuses on the literature that deals with this issue. The second part characterizes the community, history and current socio-economic status. Furthermore, the work deals with local actors in the political process, it is followed by an analysis of the municipal elections, the comparison of results, methods of post-election negotiations and the formation of local authorities.
Local Elections and Formation of Administration in Sobotka (Case Study)

The Bachelor thesis is a case study of the local elections in 2014 in the town of Sobotka. It captures the election process from the submission of lists of candidates after the constituent session. The theoretical part presents the system of the municipal self-government and elections to the local government considering these generally. The history of Sobotka, the development of its administration as well as its geographical, social and economical characteristics are described in the practical part of the paper. The main part analyses the lists of the candidates as well as the results of the elections. Furthermore, these outputs are compared to the outputs of the regional and national level. Finally, the negotiations after the elections and the formation of the self-government are dealt with.
The Process of Setting Up the Local Government in the Municipality of Chodová Planá

This thesis shows the creation of the local governments in the township Chodova Plana and the factors which influence the forming. The first part contains the theoretical information about municipalities, their organs, electoral system at the local level and local political systems. The second part describes the townhip Chodova Plana in terms of its history and the present, then it is introduced by individual indicators (social and economic characteristic, demographic structure, political characteristics). Further the thesis analyzes the results of local elections in electoral period 1998-2014, its comparasion and evaluation of functioning of the organs of local govrenments are made.
The process of Setting Up the Local Government in the Municipality of Kutná Hora

This thesis deals with local politics in a specific municipality in the Czech Republic. First part of this thesis is focused on theoretical basics of this topic. This part contains summarization of definitions of basic terms and mechanisms that local politics is based on. Second part of this thesis is focused on the municipality of Kutná Hora. It contains characteristics of the municipality and application of theoretical findings to the specific municipality. The aim is to identify factors influencing function of the local government. The qualitative method of research was used in this thesis, especially half-structuralized interviews with eight local politicians.
