Map documentation of the historical development of Němšová village

The content of bachelor thesis is the analysis of avalaible sources of Nemsova. Bachelor thesis describes map data and their content, which is suitable for evaluation of historical development of the city. The available maps shows the city´s territory from the period of military mapping to the present day and captures a range of approximately 250 years. They describe cartographic methods of expression and methods of representation of topographic map content. Based on these documents, the city development was subsequently recostructed. The result is the case study evaluating the development of Nemšová and land use development in Nemšová. The final study is supported by available maps bases, tables and graphs.

Making a historical map set of battle at Chlumec 1813

Goal of this thesis is to make map set of battle at Chlumec (near Ústí nad Labem), where Napoleon's general Vandamme was defeated by retreating coalition armies at the end of August 1813. Main data source are old map of battle at Chlumec, gained from Map repository of Charles University, and layer of contour line from ZABAGED. After evaluating methods of making historic maps process for making maps of battles is designed. Several maps of the course of battle are made where only position of soldiers in time is different and also several maps of some commanders' views in particular moments of battle are made. Based on the finished maps evaluation and discussion are made, if battle could end otherwise or why it took place the way how we know it.

Splash dams in the Krkonoše (Giant) Mountains - the past and the present

The idea of renovation of former small water reservoirs (splash dams) that were used while log driving is coming to the fore in connection with an effort to gradually increase water retention capacity and to reduce runoff variability in headstream areas. On the basis of study of historical sources and literature and own field research this bachelor's thesis describes causes of origin and period of origin of the Giant Mountain's splash dams and deals with the function and the location of the splash dams in the field. The thesis also focuses on their current state. A total of 22 Giant Mountain's splash dams built mainly in the second half of the 16th century were traced. Half of them were accurately located, the rest of the splash dams were located with an accuracy of watercourses. In the thesis there are 6 diverse localities described in detail, selected from the accurately located splash dams e.g. on the base of degree of the splash dam's preservation or degree of the anthropogenic influence on the watercourse. This work is about processing of historical maps, especially their digitizing and vectorization. The main focuses of this project are maps from the second historical military mapping and finding methods useful for removing texts from these maps.

Interaction with Old Maps on Mobile Devices

The goal of this thesis is to experiment with the latest web technologies and to design new process for mobile application creation. It is possible to create multiplatform applications which are almost unrecognizable from native applications by proposed procedures. It is focused on performance and native behaviour of the user interface in this thesis. Described practices are demonstrated on application designed for work with historical maps, which is able to show maps from historical archives whole over world real-time. Rapid acceleration has been showed on the demonstrative application compared to standard process of creation of web applications.

This bachelor work deals with the research of extinct water bodies of South Moravia from the oldest mapped history till today. It analyzes their origin, development during the time and their extinct, and the gained findings illustrates on selected water bodies. It analyses also the restoration possibilities of selected lakes and ponds.

Cartometric analysis on historical maps

This thesis examines the accuracy of the plotting of sites on historical maps from 1573 to 1790. The aim of this thesis is to examine the accuracy of the plot of selected historical maps from the Znojmo district against chosen identical points. The measurement results are shown in tables. The discrepancies detected are graphically presented in the corresponding map segments.

Historical development landscape in ORP Domažlice focused on forest areas, floodplain areas and residence areas

This batchelor thesis is focused on mapping the historical development of forest, floodplain and residential areas in ORP Domažlice. This batchelor thesis was created in collaboration with the Planning Department in Domažlice. To assess the historical development is selected three time periods. 30s of the 19th century, when there was mapping Stable cadastre, next time period is 50 years of the 20th century, when there was taken aerial photography and last term, which represents the current state is 2011. For the 50s and 2011 are used aerial photographs in the form of orthophoto. Map data are georeferenced and vectorized in GIS environment. The acquired data is used to analyzed historical development and the creation of maps, tables and graphs.
