Japan's position in international relations: identification and analysis of determinants

This paper focuses on analyzing some of the many factors that determine the position of Japan in international relations. It firstly establishes a base in the current position of Japan analyzed from various points of view to ensure its objectivity. It is necessary not only to look at political issues, but also economic, security or other ones. There are also several levels of analysis used -- first concentrates on international multilateral position, second on position among states and bilateral relations. And last, but not least, takes into account internal conditions of Japan itself. The two determinants analyzed in this paper -- 03/2011 earthquake and fiscal situation -- are also examined by multiple approaches. The aim is to analyze and present the impact of these factors on the role of Japan in international relations and the risks and opportunities they bring in context of current position. Resources include analysis of economic data and projections, statements, policies and up-to-date articles concerning this topic.
The analysis of the causes of the state of public finance in selected countries Economic and monetry union during the period 1996 to 2010

Major issue of this thesis is fiscal imbalance, which is expressed by budget deficit and public debt. The aim is to find the main cause of the current state indebtedness of public finance. The basic hypothesis of this work is that the current state is not strictly caused by the economic downturn raised by the global economic crisis. The analysis is performed at 8 states of the European Union. The theoretical section is focused on the description of theoretical connections in the system of public finances, fiscal imbalances, business cycle and shaping of Economic and monetary union. The analytical part discusses the specific challenges like unemployment, persistent budget deficits and increasing public and private debts. The selected data are presenting through series of graphs.
Fundamental economic problems of Portugal between 2007 and 2011 and their possible solutions

This thesis deals with the fundamental economic problems of Portugal between 2007 and 2011 and their possible solutions. The first chapter shows the development of Portuguese economy at the beginning of the new millenium. The second chapter focuses on the impact of the global financial and economic crisis on the country and its public debt. The last chapter describes the current fundamental economic problems that trouble Portugal the most. These include problems on the labour market, low competitiveness and problems with public debt repayment.
The development of the Spanish economy in the post-Franco era

This bachelor thesis analyzes the development of the Spanish economy from the death of Franco (1975) up until the current situation. During this period Spain experienced a lot of changes. In 1986 Spain became a member of EEC and later was among the countries that founded EMU. The aim of this work is to focus on the economic development of the country. This period of transition can also be described as a political situation, which was very important for the successful transition. This thesis also describes the impacts of the current financial crisis on the economy of Spain and problems that it caused.
Greek debt crisis: Olympic games as an accelerator?

The paper investigates the impact of macroeconomic aggregates in Greece on ability to sustain debt repayment for the years from 1981 to 2009. Theoretical framework is mapping a development of macroeconomic indicators in Greece during last 30 years emphasizing the indirect consequences of fast-growing public debt. The results in empirical part show a positive and significant impact in government's budget deficit and orientation of governing party on the debt repayment. The amount of investments put into organizing Olympic Games in Athens 2004 have not had consequently shown negative effect on public debt accumulation. Some flaws and limitations of analysis are discussed.
The development and current state of public budgets

In the introductory part of the thesis, I focus on familiarization with the development of public budgets in the Czech Republic in the early 90's of the 20th century to the present. The second part focuses on the characteristics of the system of public budgets, which describes the individual components of the budget system. After familiarization with the basic issues of the public finance system and public budgets, the thesis focuses on analyzing the government deficit and public debt, where the goal is to define the basic factors affecting the achievement of better relative weight of the public debt, in the context of the adoption of the stabilization of public budgets, which should stop the negative trend in public finances of the Czech Republic and the total government debt.
Analysis of public debt in the Czech Republic in the last two decades

The thesis topic is nowadays among the most actual economic issues of Czech Republic because the fail of executive representation to handle dynamics of public debt within acceptable limits. In theoretical part of the thesis definitions will be presented as well as all concepts and categories related to the topic as for example state budget, its expenditures and incomes including tax system, public debt, its definition, structure, methodology of reporting and possible ways of its financing, debt service etc. Practical part of the thesis will analyze evolution of debt in Czech Republic over reference time, i.e. in last two decades. Aim of the thesis is elaboration of general theories of chosen topic and analyze of public debt in Czech Republic over reference time including identification of causes of its negative evolution.

The final thesis deals with public debt in United Kingdom. Its goal is to describe substance of the issue indebtedness of governments and so concretely on example of United Kingdom. Theoretical part of the work is devoted to definition of basic terms and theory, which will be used further in the text and also deals with history of indebtness itself, which has roots in UK. In the practical part the situation of debs in UK is described based on real data and review learned knowledge with prediction of possible scenarios to the future.
Internal economic equilibrium of the European Union countries between 2007 and 2010

The thesis deals with the internal economic equilibrium of the EU member states between 2007 and 2010. In this period, which was considerably influenced by the global economic recession, a sharp deterioration in public finances and other macroeconomic indicators is apparent. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the starting points and putting the issue of public finances. The practical part is dedicated to the development and comparison of basic indicators of internal economic balance across the member countries, especially to the depth and dynamics of the public debt. In the final part, attention is paid to the prospects of development in this field at European Union level and at the level of national states.
Development and consequences of public debt in selected countries of the EU

The main goal of this thesis is to introduce the topic of public debt and its connection to budget deficit, and to compare the situation in 2 selected countries of the European Union, Ireland and Portugal. The first chapter describes the theory of public finance, its function and the main principles. It focuses on the problem of fiscal imbalance, approach of the European union (especially with regards to the Stability and Growth Pact), it also explains the theory of budget deficit and public debt. Second and third chapters are focused on the selected countries of the EU - Ireland and Portugal - as countries that are facing major problems in the area of public finance and are highly likely to ask for financial help, as it happend in the case of Greece. The chapters describe an overall economic situation of the two countries, the causes of public debt and its increase, approach of the EU towards them, proposed and agreed austerity measures, possible solutions and also further prospects for the future.
