Indonesia: Hotbed for Terrorist Activities?
Lim, Selynn Yan Ting ; Aslan, Emil (advisor) ; Karmazin, Aleš (referee)
Selynn Yan Ting Lim Abstract The thesis endeavours to use the concept of relative deprivation to explain and account for the reasons behind the various manifestations of political and religious tension in Indonesia. From the most recent series of bombings in Surabaya in 2018, to the conflicts in the Maluku Islands back in 1999, it is undeniable that Indonesia is not immune to extremist activities or religious- political conflicts. The involvement of Political Entrepreneurs (PEs), such as giving a frame to people's perceived grievances, drive sentiments of being deprived in relative to other groups. Such feelings are especially made salient with the influence of social media. At the same time, the Indonesian government's advocacy of the wasatiyyah concept, which means middle-path Islam, appears to be its most effective tool in countering the trend of extremism in the society. However, such an interpretation of Islam is potentially at odds with the "right" form of Islam as practiced by the Muslims in Saudi Arabia. Faced with increasing pressure from Islamic hardliners in the society, the Indonesian state ideology - Pancasila - is under much threat as people are gradually becoming disillusioned with it.

Study of mutual influences of volume changes and internal stresses of flow floor screeds
Mikeš, Vít ; Štenko,, Miroslav (referee) ; Šťastník, Stanislav (advisor)
This thesis deals with the comparison of volumetric and stress variations in different formulations of cast floor self-leveling screeds during maturation. These changes were measured by several methods. Furthermore, the strength parameters of the test materials were compared. The test specimens were cured in metallic and elastic forms. The microstructure of these samples were monitored by scanning electron microscopy. In conclusion, the suitability of the tested methods for the given type of flooring materials was evaluated.
Asphalt layers with reinforcing glass-fiber geogrids
Sachr, Jiří ; Bohuš,, Štěpán (referee) ; Dašek, Ondřej (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the use of glass fiber geogrids and geocomposites in road construction. The reinforcement elements are inserted between the wearing and binder asphalt layer. This diploma thesis summarizes the knowledge connected with reinforcing of asphalt roads using glass fiber. It examines the effect of reinforcing fiberglass elements on the resistance of asphalt layers loaded with traffic. At the same time, it deals with the application of a various amount of tack coat and subsequent behavior of the asphalt layers. In this work, laboratory tests of bond strength between layers on cores and four-point bending were performed.
Rock strength anisotropy - interpretation of laboratory tests
The bachelor thesis analyses stress and deformation of the truss construction. The first point of the thesis is a research, which includes obtaining information about the construction, for exemple dimensions, loads, purpose, history etc. Then, calculation models are created considering a different level of simplification. Two analytical models are crutial for the thesis – one statically determinate and the other statically indeterminate. They are used for analysing two different loads applied to the construction using methods of solid mechanics – it’s own weight and its own weight in combination with a weight of a vehicle that is driving through. Afterwards, the statically inderteminate model is verified using finite element method (FEM).
Napjatostně deformační analýza rozhledny Hraniční vrch
Novák, Tomáš ; Skalka, Petr (referee) ; Fuis, Vladimír (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is focused on stress and deformation analysis of strut frame, which is based on lookout tower Hraniční vrch by the city Město Albrechtice. The main goal is to create simplified 3D model and his resulting analysis at various degree of static indeterminateness. The first part contains introduction to history of lookout tower, theoretical introduction to bar, strut frame and limit state, followed by calculation of three various static indeterminate level. In the last part is verification of analytic results by numeric method. Another goal is to create thesis, which will also give a guidence for future solver of more complex 3D strut frame.
Creep behavior of oak pegs under tension in dry and wet conditions
Kunecký, Jiří ; Kloiber, Michal ; Hasníková, Hana ; Hrivnák, Jaroslav ; Sebera, V. ; Tippner, J. ; Milch, J.
Carpentry joints equipped with oak pegs are well suited for applications where increased moisture is not a significant factor. However, for the use in outside conditions, e.g. in the repairs of historical timber bridges, the pegs connecting the two halves of the joint may deform and change their original shape. This happens especially during long-term loading and can be augmented significantly by environmental changes. Creep behavior can play a crucial role for some types of carpentry joints, especially when precise contacts of faces in the joint are required. The paper deals with experimental testing of creep behavior of 16 mm oak pegs under dry and wet conditions loaded by the combination of shear and bending between two planks made of spruce in the direction parallel to grain. The results show that the decrease of theoretical stiffness values over time plays a significant role in the force redistribution in the joint especially due to moisture effects (drop 50-70% of the original stiffness).
Word as a picture
Majerová, Sandra ; Velíšek, Martin (advisor) ; Daniel, Ladislav (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with a concept of a word and a picture, it compares these two terms, identifies the differences and describes their mutual relationship. It charts those two terms as means of communication and as bearers of meaning. It also describes different ways to combine them in art - it explores presence of a word in paintings in both historical and contemporary art. Didactic part of the thesis is focused on a use of text in art and its meaning. It contains an art project which aims to transfer a text into a picture - to translate a literature into language of art. The project resulted in a series of staged photographic self-portraits representing personal reflection of a topic presented in a literature. Practical part reflects examined relationship of the word and the picture. It refers to the results of the theoretical part and describes author's personal standpoint. Author refers to different ways of connection of the text and fine art and updates them. Author tries to portray a word as a picture which becomes either paradox or harmony.
