Influence of the figurative language on the individual and the society

Figurative language is an important means of rhetoric that is used in all forms and types of texts (from journalistic texts to elements of user interfaces). The primary purpose of this bachelor thesis is to determine how figurative speech in general may affect and how it does affect the individual and the society as a whole, based on journalistic text examples covering the Czech Republic´s presidential elections in prestigious German online media. The definition of figurative speech will be developed. The role of figurative language in our everyday lives, politics and learning process will be described.

Theory Actions in X Chapters/Actions Theory in X Acts : Talk and Twerk

The result of the project is a short video documentation of reciprocal lesson given by the twerking instructress and the teacher of the rhetoric. We can easily observe how the smart nonverbal choreography of speech is joining the erotically explicit dance. Women bodies are shot by camera during the training. They exercise proper breathing techniques first, then nonverbal expression and finally they try to articulate diverse notions on twerking. After the rhetoric lesson is given, they change the positions of teacher and the person being taught. It's time to learn how to twerk. In the final sequence we can see both women performing short twerk choreography on hip-hop music track made originally for the project.

Sophists and their way of education

The work deals with the education of sophists in ancient Greece. It is divided into three parts ? the first one deals with the historical context of creation of sophists and it describes their basic ideas. The second part is dedicated to the way of sophistic education and also to the most important sophistic personalities ? Protagoras and Gorgias. In this part, there is a chapter about rhetoric and its importace for sophists. The last part describes the influence of sophists on important people of ancient Greece ? Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. Also their influence in the future is mentioned. The purpose of the work is to describe sophistic methods of education, their meaning and influence.

Blahoslav's Preacher's faults and contemporary rhetorics

The main ambition of my bachelor thesis will be the analysis of Jan Blahoslav´s humanistic publication Preacher's faults and its comparison with present rhetoric handbook. Concretely the book Modern rhetoric by Alena Špačková. My bachelor thesis is dedicated to period of humanism and renaissance as the important epoch of the world culture and the Jan Blahoslav, the more important czech representative person of this epoch as well. I focus on a history and evolution of rhetoric from its beginning till present and widely analyze the rethoric of humanism epoch in the world and in the Czech too. The bachelor thesis contains also the basic facts about Alena Špačková, the author of the book which I analyze. I analyze both comparing books and I addict to the content, style, segmentation and the language as well. The main topic will be the comparing both works. I will concern with comparison characters of both books and their theme. I will make a summary at the end.

F. L. Rieger as a Speaker

The paper analyzes the rhetorical structure of Rieger's political speeches that he pronounced in parliaments in the years 1848-1849 and 1861, although he used all rhetorical techniques, the overall tones of his speeches were irony and pathos. His rhetorical talent raised from his physical abilites, juridical erudition and general culture.
