Christian Church Funeral Ceremonies
Váňa, Václav ; Kotas, Jan (advisor) ; Opatrný, Aleš (referee)
he diploma thesis "Christian Church Funeral Ceremonies" deals with Roman Catholic Church funeral ceremonies, both preceding and following the Second Vatican Council reforms, Greek Catholic Church funeral ceremonies and those of Eastern Orthodox Church, Czechoslovak Hussite Church and Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren. It describes various ceremonies and their historical development. By means of comparing the structures of these ceremonies it attempts to find what they have in common as well as what makes them distinctively different in terms of liturgy and theological teaching. It examines the theme of death, after-life conceptions, and funeral ceremonies in life of ancient people and European pagans, Jewish tradition and culture of Middle ages. It also covers the area of the last things of a man and resurrection matter as far as it is mentioned in liturgical books. Finally it questions the suitability of available liturgical texts concerning special cases and new forms of funeral ceremonies. Petr Eben - music as a way to God
Šmardová Koulová, Jana ; Špačková, Alena (advisor) ; Tvrdek, Petr (referee)
Petr Eben. Petr Eben. Music as the way to God. Jana Šmardová Koulová Summary In my work I have come to the conclusion that Petr Eben's music means really great contribution not only to Czech but even to the whole world sacred music with his compositions that help a lot in ecumenical efforts. The author's own true faith in God, thanks to his concentrated and meaningful work, conveys onto the listener and addresses him/her with direct impact. He understood the subservience of music well, and he...

Geoffrey Wainwright, Doxology
Křížová, Jana ; Štefan, Jan (advisor) ; Macek, Petr (referee)
Geoffrey Wainwright, Doxology. The Praise of God in Worship, Doctrine, and Life. A Systematic Theology. New York 1980. The book is introduced in the bachelor thesis as a systematic theology written from a liturgical perspective. It can also be considered as a theology of worship. Wainwright indicates that the relations between doctrine and worship are deep rooted and far reaching, and they influence each other significantly. The first part of the book sketches the substance of Christianity. The second part examines instruments of Christian tradition - the means by which the vision is transmitted through time. In the third part, direct attention is given to questions regarding the Christian vision proclaimed in the second half of the twentieth century. The conclusion of the book brings out the orientation towards the future. It is suggested that there are rewards for the whole life of the Church in doing the theological task in a liturgical perspective. Since God's kingdom and human salvation can be described as true worship, every improvement in the quality of liturgy by which our present Christian life is focally expressed is worthwhile.
The Second Liturgy of Czechoslovak Hussite Church
Basl, Vojtěch ; Kolář, Pavel (advisor) ; Tvrdek, Petr (referee)
Presented work has in its first part tried to evaluate both textual and theological development of the liturgy in the Czechoslovak (Hussite) church. It has focused on Farsky's translation of the Roman Mass from 1919, first liturgical reforms of the young church, liturgical diversification and unifiction in newly conceived liturgy by Karel Farsky in 1923. The work further follows development of such liturgy, especially its revision in 1939 and attempts of liturgical renewal in seventies and eighties of the twentieth century. The final conclusion of the thesis resides in stating that revision was crucial for blurring certain parts of Farsky's liturgy. It was not conciliated with Učení, official doctrinal document of the Church, and also didn't stay in line with its origin. The main part of the work is focused on analysis of singular parts of Second Liturgy s it was adopted by Assembly in 1991. We attempt to compare this liturgy with earlier versions as mentioned above. This thesis particularly states, that recent version of the Second Liturgy presents two parts of the liturgy of the Word, when the first reading is sharply distinguished from the rest. Furthermore, Opening antiphon (Introit) and Communium antiphon (Communio) are misleadingly placed. In fact, only Offertory antiphon (Offertorium) is located...
Liturgical music in the deanery of Frýdek
FOLDYNOVÁ, Judita
The work deals with the phenomenon of liturgical music in the deanery of Frýdek. The theoretical part describes on what occasions the music in the liturgy is used, what functions arise therefrom and who can take part in the liturgy as far as the music is concerned. The practical part describes how each function of the musical part of the liturgy is applied in each parish of the deanary of Frýdek. The facts were obtained from interviews with local musicians and managers of individual parishes. Overall, there is a wide range of musicians who participate on the liturgy in the Deanery of Frýdek. In the deanery, we can meet all components of liturgical music. However, one person often performs more roles. There is also a frequent cooperation among parishes or within the parish itself. A specific feature of this region is the bilingualism of some parishes .
Aspects of Light in Church Architecture
Šťasta, Jiří
Light is an element that is symbolically present in any religion for its life-giving and revealing function. The paper focuses on the use of light in the Christian milieu and in both historical and contemporary Christian architecture. Different approaches to light characterise each period and its social and cultural aspects. Building materials develop, their properties improve over time, but light is an eternal architectural element – a necessary condition.
