Administrative development of the village Cernice during the period of the First Czechoslovak Republic and in the initial phase of the occupation
Lišková, Sonja ; Šouša, Jiří (advisor) ; Janečková, Jitka (referee)
The thesis deals with the development of self-government of a small village Černice. The micro-historical research of municipal government is a key topic not only for understanding national history, but it's also useful as a basis for studying the origins of the current legislation and the activity of administrative bodies. Researching the development and various phenomenons of the society in the past often helps us to better understand the current attitudes and conclusions, as these are often derived from past experience. First of all, the work represents an outline of the history of first reference regarding the village. The following sections then characterize the development of a small village, located near the large city of Pilsen in modern times. It represents the village and it's development during the First Czechoslovak Republic, a significant part of Czech history, and describes the key turning points. The last part of the thesis is devoted to the life of citizens, education, religious life, culture and also activities of local associations and organisations.

Determinants of Claims Satisfaction in Insolvency Proceedings in the Czech Republic
Pařízek, Petr ; Skuhrovec, Jiří (advisor) ; Luňáčková, Petra (referee)
This paper examines determinants of creditors' claims satisfaction in insolvency proceedings in the Czech Republic. To our knowledge, it is the first research to such extent in the Czech Republic covering this field. Combining microdata from Insolvency Register, Business Register, Ministry of Finance and other sources, we construct a unique dataset of more than 2,600 cases. We identify several basic determinants of satisfaction: a higher share of secured claims, real estate and cash in assets of a company, submission of financial statements into Business Register, selling the business as a whole within the proceedings, and entrepreneur cases. We find no such effect for the audit of financial statements or for the age of a company. Moreover, we search for other indicators that may result in the lower satisfaction of claims, out of which five are statistically significant: a homeless person in statutory body, registered office at a firm nest, being listed as unreliable VAT payer, a connection to persons that have multiple records in Insolvency Register and a substantial increase in depreciation in the period between the last two submitted financial statements. In contradiction to the bankruptcy prediction literature, we show that the financial data are unreliable for predicting the outcome of insolvency...

Effect of covariate measurement error on estimates and tests in regression models
Otčenášová, Eliška ; Jurečková, Jana (referee) ; Kulich, Michal (advisor)
The thesis concerns with e ect of covariate measurement error on the least squares estimators and tests of importance of parameters in regression models. It refers to unsatis ed assumptions of linear model when using measurement error covariates and resulting e ect on estimates and tests in regression models. It focuses mainly on investigation of consistence of estimates of linear and quadratic coeficient in additive and multiplicative model with one covariate with homoscedastic and heteroscedastic measurement error. In the nal chapter teoretical results are grounded by simulation study.

Isotonic Regression in Sobolev Spaces
Pešta, Michal ; Dostál, Petr (referee) ; Hlávka, Zdeněk (advisor)
We propose a class of nonparametric estimators for the regression models based on least squares over the sets of sufficiently smooth functions. Least squares permit the imposition of additional constraint-isotonia-on nonparametric regression estimation and testing of this constraint. The estimation takes place over the balls of functions which are elements of a suitable Sobolev space-special types of Hilbert spaces that facilitate calculation of the least squares projection. The Hilbertness is allowing us to take projections and hence to decompose spaces into mutually orthogonal complements. Then we transform the problem of searching for the best fitting function in an infinite dimensional space into a finite dimensional optimization problem. We prove that the balls of functions in Sobolev space are bounded and have bounded higher order derivatives. It permits us to estimate over rich set of functions with sufficiently low metric entropy and apply Laws of Large Numbers and Central Limit Theorems.

Volatility of Euro: Trends and Modelling
Böhm, Petr ; Hanousek, Jan (referee) ; Kočenda, Evžen (advisor)
The main objective of this work is to model volatility of Euro to Czech Koruna exchange rate between 1.1.1999 and 30.12.2005 and investigate changes in its behaviour. In order to achieve this we search for structural breaks in exchange rate time series. We model the conditional variance with ARCH model (autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity) between particular break points. Our findings are that since year 2002 volatility of Euro to Koruna exchange rate has been decreasing. This conclusion is confirmed by measuring historic volatility by using month average and daily observations. This may has been caused by changing monetary policy, more precisely by adopting new regime of maintaining monetary stability - implicit inflation targeting.

Monitoring of ethological expressions of animals for the purpose of developing sensors assessing various animal movements
KINDLOVÁ, Jana
Breed of beef cattle belongs to one of the most important branches of live-stock production in the Czech Republic. These farm animals are mainly used to produce milk and meat. Since 1989 numbers of beef cattle have strongly declined, this transparent decrease now marking more than a 2 million difference from the early 1990s. The main aim of this thesis is to gather basic information, details and primarily formulate knowledge about the behaviour of dairy cows and their physiological reactions in relation to the process of milking and the consequent response regarding the water requirement and kinetic activities (e.g. the need to relax). The research described in this thesis was conducted in DZV Nova a. s. enterprise, Petrovice, which cultivates an area of nearly 5000 hectares and has 640 dairy cows of Holstein breed in its possession. Vital meter is a device in a sealed box, which hangs on a dairy cow?s neck while registering a certain amount of movements throughout a specific time, one hour in our case. Each hour is divided into two hundred and forty fifteen-second sections. Any movement during this section is therefore registered in a computer through this device?s receiving antenna. A total number of 6 gravid cows of Holstein breed, in a good health condition, with an average daily milk yield between 25 ? 35 litres, was selected for our ethological observation. All these dairy cows had a vital meter placed on their necks, which measured the aforementioned amount of movements an hour. The actual observation took place between the 27th and 28th of October and between the 4th and 6th of December 2012. First, the dairy cows were observed throughout the entire 24-hour period (November 27th, 28th) and then twice in 12-hour periods (December 4th, 6th). The overall time of observation equalled to 48 hours. Temperature conditions ranged from -3 degrees of Celsius to +5 degrees. The animals were gathered and therefore milked in a milking parlour three times a day roughly between 12 ? 13, 20 ? 21 and 3:45 ? 4:30. From the computer records we found out that the vital metres successfully registered all these movements and as a result verified the functionality of these devices and their possible usage as the means of observation of cows? kinetic activities. The outcomes of the dairy cows? observation and the data from vital metres also imply that even if the vital metres correctly registered increased kinetic activity representing a real rise in cows? mobility, they fail to display the particular acts of lying and getting up as well as jumps. After calculating an average from individual daily activities of a dairy cow, these results can be concluded: During a 24-hour period one dairy cow spends three and three quarters of an hour feeding itself, drinks seven times, excretes eleven times, urinates 5 ? 6 times. It places itself at rest nine times and the measured time spent lying accounts for an average of 11 hours and 39 minutes. The process of rumination is connected with lying or standing and lasts for 6 hours and 41 minutes a day. As for the kinetic activity, the average distance walked by one cow amounts 478, 6 metres. There is only one phenomenon contradicting the literary articles/literature ? the process of feeding, which is significantly (75 minutes) shorter and consequently leads to dairy cows producing less urine than they ought to, yet they have more kinetic activities and mobility. As mentioned, a dairy cow walks almost 480 metres a day, while literary sources state less (200 ? 300 metres).

Digital forensic anthropology and sexual dimorphism of recent population os coxae: implication for sex estimation.
Mesteková, Šárka ; Brůžek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Dobisíková, Miluše (referee)
This thesis uses the metric evaluation of 3D models created from CT images. The study is based on an examination of 51 males and 55 females CT scans from recent European population and also based on a metric data (10 linear measurements) of the same geographical provenance of the mid-20th century (n=113). The purpose of our research project is to determine the degree of sexual dimorphism in current population and compare the degree of sexual dimorphism in this geographic area in the middle of the last century. Intraobserver variabilities of linear measurements were less than 2%. Both groups were statistically tested. An index of sexual dimorphism (ISD) was used to assess the level of sexual dimorphism within each sample (Paris ISD = 8,28, Marseille ISD = 6,50). The two-sided t-test indicates that the degree of sexual dimorphism is not significantly different between population from the mid-20th century and recent population (p = 0,680). The secular trend was expressed by the z-score. The results showed that changes in the pelvic bone between the two groups are not significant, since neither one of the measurements does not exceed ±2 SD. Finally, we verified the reliability of method DSP ("Diagnose Sexuelle Probabiliste") for measurements deducted from CT-derived models. The results showed the...
