Výživa březích a laktujících klisen, hříbat a mladých koní
KLIMEŠOVÁ, Ludmila
The horses' diet is a complex difficulty which challenges horse breeders. The main problem is that many times horses are overfed and breeders reduce the amount of nutrition consequently. This combination leads to an imbalance in the horses' nutrient uptake and lead to health problems. Professional breeders choose their horses because of their sportive performance and fast growth. Especially these horses need a balanced diet. If a balanced diet is not given, an incorrect feeding technique can lead to complications in a horses' growth and its bone grafting. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe the main aspects of horse feeding with a focus on pregnant mares, foals and young horses. Further this thesis addresses health problems causes by a faulty feeding and feeding technique. Based on the aspects covered in this bachelor thesis a recommended daily feeding dose for the selected horse categories will be given.

Additional objective of this thesis was to assess whether selected horse owners supplement their horses with iodine and what form of supplementation they choose.
Posouzení učenlivosti koní a adaptace na stres
POKORNÁ, Barbora
Today's use of horses is primarily for sports purposes, thus increasing the demands of their mental and physical readiness. That depends on their character and ability to adapt to sudden stressful circumstances. The object of the thesis is to create an artificially constructed alley with stress barriers and to assess the appreciation of horses of different uses, breeding and sex. Than to draw their adaptation to changing environmental conditions, which may be a stress factor. The ability of horses was tested through four tasks. Passing through the empty alley, crossing the sail, passing the balloons and passing the fringes. The individual tasks had to be completed with a conductor for familiarization with the stressors. Then they were admitted into the alley separately. When the horse passed, next task was added and everything was repeated. At the end of the alley, a positive motivation based on the food reflex was always prepared for the horse. The results demonstrated how horses responded to the addition of stressors to the alley and their difficulty. The speed and success of the aisle passage was evaluated by a point scale of 1 to 4. The statistical method of Anova was used to evaluate the difference between Czech warm-blooded breeds and other breeds. There were 83.33% of representatives of Czech warm-blooded horses able to go through the alley with all the tasks to the end. Only 12.5% of horses from the group of other breeds of horses managed to complete this task. The statistically demonstrable difference was not found in gender groups and groups distinguishing use. Even though the gelding reaction was different from the mares reaction, it was not conclusive on this amount of horses.
Vliv technologie chovu na welfare koní
KUBEŠOVÁ, Denisa
This bachelor's thesis examines an impact of a horse breeding technology on welfare of horses. Theoretical part of the thesis describes suitable conditions for horse stabling, ethological requirements of horses in their breeding and the principles of welfare for horses. There were 5 stables and a total of 106 horses of various breeds, genders, ages, types of usage and types of stabling included in the monitoring. The monitoring took place during February and August 2018. Suitability of stabling was evaluated according to medical condition of horses, horse herd behaviour and behavioural responses to a stranger's approach. All data were collected during two weeks. As the most suitable type of stabling was evaluated the horse box type in combination with a paddock. There were stabled horses with any types of usage (67 horses out of total number). Minor variations were found in behavioural responses to a stranger's approach. As the second most frequent type of stabling was stabling 24/7 with a shelter (14 horses). This type of stabling is from a work standpoint and a financial standpoint the most conveniet one. All horses had an adequate condition of their hooves with a correction. There were no signs of discharge. Horsehair always served their condition, age and season. Limbs of all horses were healty, dry, without any pathological changes, corresponding to their age and with no limping. If, the horses are correctly taken care of, are used and manipulated with the knowledge of their ethology, principles of suitable feeding in sufficient amount are abided and the health condition of the animals is regularly checked, then the horses have no health issues, are in a good condition, don't have neither bad habits nor variations in their behaviour in any of the monitored types of stablings.

TITLE: Natural communication with the horse and the possibilities of human - horse interaction AUTHOR: Bc. Lenka Volfová DEPARTMENT: Department of Biology and Enviromnental Studies (Katedra biologie a enviromnentálních studií) SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Kateřina Jančaříková, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: This thesis explores interspecies communication and, specifically, natural communication between the man and the horse. Through comparative research based on a programme developed by Ing. Josef Liška (Liška Solutions) for the assessment of the participant's personality, employing several exercises with a horse from the ground, the thesis aims at introducing ways in which horses can be used for the purposes of personal growth. For the purposes of this thesis, volunteers from three groups were assessed under this programme using the method of direct observation: teachers, business executives and people who work with animals. The assessment was carried out by marking down points and comments. On the basis of the results obtained, the above three groups were subsequently compared among one another. The research shows that teachers excelled in six out of seven observed personal competencies while, compared to business executives, there is still space for improvement in terms of their energy. The results shown in relation to the...
Hippotherapy as an effective healing method for scoliosis
LIŠKOVÁ, Andrea
The bachelor thesis deals with hippotherapy as supportive therapy for patients with scoliosis. The thesis is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part is divided into two chapters, first addresses hippotherapy and the second scoliosis. The chapters explain the basic concepts necessary to get familiar with the given issue. In the subchapters of the first chapter I deal with the composition of the hippotherapeutic team, course of hippotherapy in general, positioning, indications, contraindications and with the treatment principle. In the chapter scoliosis I describe the basic terminology and the classification of scoliosis, the risk factors, therapy and therapeutical approaches. In the practical part, I introduce the aims of the work and the research itself. This part is elaborated through a qualitative survey - case study, mixed research. The research is carried out in the form of case studies of three probands with diagnosed scoliosis. Probands visited once a week the farm called "U Lištičky" in Úlehle, where they practiced hippotherapy. Each proband passed 12 hippotherapeutic units. The method of data acquisition was kinesiological analysis (on entry and exit), systematic observation and an interview. The work includes initial examination, evaluation of the initial examination, individual therapy, concluding examination, evaluation of the concluding examination and of the therapy. The individual case reports are supplemented with photo-documentation from the entrance and concluding examinations, from the course of the hippotherapeutic units and the results tables. Methods used for data collection were the following: anamnesis, aspects, pelvic examination, Adams test, plummetal examination, spinal function tests, hypermobility examination, muscle examination, two-scale stand test, Véle test, trigonometric examination, anthropometric examination, movement stereotypes and neurological examination. The aim of the work was to map out the effects of hippotherapy as a supportive treatment for scoliosis and to evaluate the results before and after the influence of hippotherapy on probands with scoliosis. The results of all three probands confirmed, that due to hippotherapy, there was a reduction in asymmetry, improvement in posture, pelvic anteversion, increased muscle strength, improvement of movement stereotypes, influencing breathing functions and stability of sitting on the horse's back. The influence of hippotherapy was demonstrated also in some functional tests and in the plumbing examination. At the same time, despite their initial concerns, the psyche of all probands was positively influenced and their relationship to the animals was deepen. Based on the evaluation of the results that were recorded, I would like to state, that hippotherapy as a supportive treatment of people with scoliosis is beneficial. The outcomes of this bachelor thesis could be used in practice as well as educational material for students of physiotherapy, therapists themselves, or as a basis for further research in this field. This work is the result of an effort to deepen the awareness of Hippotherapy as a supportive method for the treatment of scoliosis, both in professional and amateur audiences, and to point out the positive effects of hippotherapy on humans.
Výskyt endoparazitů u koní a možnosti prevence
ŠEJBOVÁ, Tereza
The aim of the diploma thesis is the analysis of the occurrence of endoparasites in horses and proposing prevention options using unconvential products and pasture management. In total 20 horses were included in the observation, who were all stabled on one farm. The observation took place during on pasture season. The first faecal examination was carried out for purpose of quantitative determination of parasites using the modified McMaster technique. The faecal analysis was carried out always before and after use of the homeopatihc and allopathic preparation. Horses were found to be infected by strongylides. Coprological analysis proved resistence to pyrantel embonate in 25 % of horses. After subsequent homeopathic treatment, the efficacy of this preparation was found in several horses, with EPG (eggs per gram) not exceeding 200. The effect of season on the rate of infection was monitored, when the effect of season wasn´t statiscially confirmed (p = 0,28). In assessing the effect of age on the intensity of infection, it was confirmed that older horses had lower parasitic infection rates than the young horses. After administration of active substance ivermectin to both groups of horses, a significant difference was observed when using this active substance against pyrantel embonate, which showed an excellent effect in 95 % horses. The homeopatic preparation of PVB etat vermieux can be used as an aditional preventive treatment during the year in horses that are sensitive to it. At the same time, it is important to regularly perform coprological faecal analysis and suitably choose an allopathic remedy, it is important to focus on preventive measures in horse breeding and pasture.
