Communication system for the blind - the mobile part
Dadák, Jiří ; Rampl, Ivan (referee) ; Herman, Ivo (advisor)
Orientation in big administration buildings can be very difficult for visually impaired people. Although most of the buildings are equipped with elevators, the buttons of which are designated with Braille characters and acoustic signals, it might be very difficult for the visually impaired to actually find the particular office. Even if there were descriptions in Braille at each office door, it would prove very complicating for the visually impaired individual to localize the descriptions in the first place, especially in case of a large number of offices in the building. That may also concern other important places, such as toilets, inside a building. In this thesis, I am going to present a design proposal of a communication system which uses transceivers placed at significant points in a building and receivers placed at the end of the white cane for orientation inside a building.
Student Housing
Golík, Pavel ; Todorov, Petr (referee) ; Pelčák, Petr (advisor)
The architectural study built block the northern corner of town in close proximity to the center of Brno. The main thrust of the solution is particularly easy throughput area, pedestrian safety and ease of orientation in space. The architectural study of student housing is the first step change in the given locality by regulatory plan. The intention was to broken and fragmented forms of buildings to bring the urban elements, the wide streets, passages, squares and courtyards, which will evaluate and develop the character and vitality of the place. Architectural building block concept takes into account noise pollution site and responds to a bad indication, due to the north. New built-in design and layouts are designed so as to reduce the noise levels of interior space and create a resting zone in courtyard.
Determination of sound source orientation from multichannel audiosignal
Sumtsov, Artem ; Ripel, Tomáš (referee) ; Krejsa, Jiří (advisor)
The goal of this thesis was a research on appropriate methods of determination of sound source orientation and consequently its processing. This thesis describes subsequently four methonds of determination of signal delays between different channels. Each of these methods is evaluated with respect to suitability, usability, error rate and sensibility. In the next part the geometrical model for determination of the sound source orientation is described. Experimental solutions are processed for the situation with three microphones. Calculations are done in Matlab.
Slope and orientation influence to utilization of solar collectors for heating and domestic hot water preparing in a family house
Sklenár, Ondrej ; Bečvář, Jaroslav (referee) ; Jaroš, Michal (advisor)
Slope and orientation influence to utilization of solar collectors for heating and domestic hot water preparing in a family house. In this bachelor´s work I engage in problems and concept of solar system for preparing warm supply water. For heating-up has been used a bivalent system complemented by electric heating inlet. The project has been intent on compare of investment recovery for different variants of slope and influence of solar collectors.

The distorsion of a perceived structure in the direction of an observer`s line of sight
Šikl, Radovan
Human perception of 3-D structure is neither accurate, nor reliable since the image is largely determined by the different object`s distances from an observer and object`s orientations with respect to an observer. Perception of 3-D structure is severely distorted especially when the observed object align with the observer`s sight. We studied the accuracy and reliability of perception in these conditions for moving geometrical objects. Subjects were to compare the relative depth of two simultaneously exposed half-ellipsoids. These objects were mutually identical with exception of their elongation directly to the depth. The difference in their elongation varied from 5% to 20% of the second object`s depth. One of objects was oriented in the direction of observer`s sight, the second of objects in orientation 0°, 12°, or 24°. The results clearly demonstrate the misperception of third dimension and reveal the consistent bias to overestimate the depth of slanted one of two half-ellipsoids across all conditions.
