Comparison of functionality of the standard BI platform and BI module integrated in the ERP system
Fargačová, Tamara ; Klčová, Hana (referee) ; Sodomka, Petr (advisor)
This master’s thesis deals with comparison of the standard Business Intelligence platform specifically IBM Cognos BI and BI module integrated in the ERP system QI. In the first part it defines basic concepts of this topic and describes the life cycle of business information systems with emphasis on Business Intelligence. In the next part current situation on the market of these platforms and BI tools which create management information systems is described. Both types of BI solutions are compared with concentration on standard functionality usage. It also describes their ability to analyze through using data warehouse technology, integration with third-party products and business and economic aspects.
Design of Data Warehouse
Szkuta, David ; Neuwirth, Bernard (referee) ; Dydowicz, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with the design of a data warehouse that stores events created in the mobile app. The goal was to design an alternative to the current solution. The thesis explains concepts, mainly data warehouse terminology, which are used in subsequent chapters. An analysis of the current solution is conducted, and as well as research of available data warehouse and ETL services. Based on the results of the analysis, a suitable new solution is chosen, implemented, and tested.
Analysis of Public Data of the Czech Statistical Office
Pohl, Ondřej ; Burget, Radek (referee) ; Bartík, Vladimír (advisor)
The aim of this thesis is analysis of data of the Czech Statistical Office concerning foreign trade. At first, reader familiarize with Business Intelligence and data warehousing. Further, OLAP analysis and data mining basics are explained. In next parts the thesis deal with describing and analysis of data of foreign trade by the help of OLAP technology and data mining in MS SQL Server including selected analytical tasks implementation.
A Module for Classification of Results in an e-Learning System
Kočvara, Jakub ; Burget, Radek (referee) ; Bartík, Vladimír (advisor)
In this thesis we try using machine learning techniques to predict final grade of a student in a learning management system on the basis of his behavior during the semester. The aim is to determine the optimal technology for the extraction, treatment and machine learning on data. The whole system would then be implemented as a module that we will be able to plug in the existing system.
Data Mining for Suggesting Further Actions
Veselovský, Martin ; Burget, Radek (referee) ; Bartík, Vladimír (advisor)
Knowledge discovery from databases is a complex issue involving integration, data preparation, data mining using machine learning methods and visualization of results. The thesis deals with the whole process of knowledge discovery, especially with the issue of data warehousing, where it offers the design and implementation of a specific data warehouse for the company ROI Hunter, a.s. In the field of data mining, the work focuses on the classification and forecasting of the advertising data available from the prepared data warehouse and, in particular, on the decision tree classification. When predicting the development of new ads, emphasis is put on the rationale for the prediction as well as the proposal to adjust the ad settings so that the prediction ends positively and, with a certain likelihood, the ads actually get better results.
Data warehouse based on IBM technologies and its possibilities
Snítil, Jiří ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Novotný, Ota (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of advanced data warehouse concepts where three advanced data warehouse concepts are analysed and their selection is justified. The first selected advanced data warehouse concept is a method of capturing data changes from sources system Change Data Capture (CDC). The second concept is the historization of captured data into historical data collection. The third concept is the application of analytical functions directly within data warehouse technology. A new testing environment has been created to analyse these concepts where the main database system Netezza available in IBM PureData System for Analytics, powered by Netezza technology (PDA), is utilised. This testing environment allowed all selected advanced data warehouse concepts to be reviewed. An impact of the application of these advanced data warehouse concepts has been analysed based on results from the testing environment and practical insights, particularly regarding potential advances. In the testing environment it was verified that all analysed advanced data warehouse concepts are applicable in a data warehouse. In the first advanced data warehouse concept was chosen LiveAudit mapping as appropriate for further data processing, when with this mapping it is possible to unambiguously determine the state of data in a source system at any point in the past. The second advanced data warehouse concept established that data acquired from LiveAudit mapping is possible to effectively process into historical data collection. Based on these findings, there was proposed generic solution of processing data from source systems. In the third advanced data warehouse concept was also proved, that it is possible to work in native analytic environment RGui and move the computation itself into data, which is located in the data warehouse, without the necessity of migration of these data. Further, it is possible to develop and use a new analytic function written in C++ language directly into the technology of the data warehouse.
Implementace Business Intelligence v MVNO
Kamenchshikova, Alena ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Basl, Josef (referee)
The goal of this paper is to implement Business Intelligence solution for mobile virtual network operator Erbia Mobile. The first part is devoted to description and analysis of concepts and architecture associated with BI implementation. The second part deals with technical aspects of BI introduction to the company based on listed requirements gathered from series of interviews with management. Implementation is initiated by analysis of company data sources and detailed description of attributes essential to the telecommunication industry. Based on requirements and data source examination outputs, multidimensional analysis is created and described in detail. Next part describes individual components (Data Warehouse, ETL, OLAP cubes) implementation as well as different optimization techniques. Given components created on Microsoft platform using Integration, Analysis and Reporting Services. Final reports and dashboard visualizations are created using MS Excel and Power BI software tools.
Metadata integration in data warehouse
Volf, Karel ; Matějka, Martin (advisor) ; Novotný, Ota (referee)
This diploma thesis aim at the implementation of metadata in the context of data warehouses and Business Intelligence. Metadata can provide significant benefits to the organization, help address regulatory requirements, and increase the use of BI tools to prevent user denial. The main goals of the diploma thesis are the metadata integration according to the theoretical knowledge from the first part of this thesis and the practical implementation of the solution of consolidating business and technical metadata in the second part of the thesis. The first chapter defines the goals of the work and the expected benefits. The second chapter defines the concept of metadata, types and standards. Chapter three provide metadata context in the perspective of company's data governance, and summarize an analytical market for metadata and data integration tools. The fourth chapter evaluates the usability of metadata based on research on the subject. The fifth chapter describes one of the possible metadata integration solutions according to the theoretical knowledge summarized in the preceding chapters. The sixth chapter summarizes the practical experience of implementing the solution into the insurance company BI environment. The main contribution of the thesis is the description of implementation of the real solution and its evaluation.
Development of methodics for performance comparison of data warehouse systems
Ronovský, Jan ; Pavlíček, Antonín (advisor) ; Meixner, Jiří (referee)
This thesis focuses on developing methodics for performance comparison of data warehouse systems. Firstly, the thesis defines data warehouses in various development stages of organization BI and describes knowledge about data warehouses. Methodics developed in the thesis describes architecture of standardized data warehouse, data flow between areas of data warehouse and processes in data warehouse. Understanding of these concepts is crucial for assurance of methodics applicability. Methodics offer logical progression of steps, which start and include testing of data warehouse systems. The contribution of the thesis is in having guide, what needs to be done when organization must do while testing various systems for data warehouses. Also it describes how this testing should be done on middle level detail, which is the absolute minimum level of abstraction that can be done due to wide applicability of methodics. Methodics offers solution to the problem of performance comparison when organization need to answer question - Which data warehouse system should we use in our organization? However, methodics expects already some knowledge about data warehouse content.
