Design of the database for courier company
Kolman, Michal ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Tomášková, Barbora (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of requirements and design of database for a courier company engaged in food delivery services. The aim of this thesis is to create a database design that would be used for an application enabling dealing with orders and registration of subjects that have access to them. The the-sis is divided into two parts. The first part is devoted to theoretical basis, explanation of important database concepts and how to design a database. The second part deals with the design of the database. I proceeded from the analysis of the courier company across con-ceptual and physical database design to verification of the database with simple commands on the school Oracle database server. The assumed contribution should be an option for employees to track the status of the or-der. The management of the company will have all the information about orders and finan-cial transactions registrated in one place and be able to analyse all the information. Customers should have an easy overview of their benefit program, possibly also of their credit system. Couriers and operators should have an easy overview of cash transactions and the current financial situation of the couriers. On that basis, they should be able to quickly allocate the orders.
Database design for e-shop
Chmelíček, Jiří ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Tomášková, Barbora (referee)
The main goal of this thesis is designing a database for an online store alias e-shop. Where designed database will not depend on the character of sold goods and will cover all areas of common e-shops. At the beginning of thesis are determined the requirements for the functionality of e-shop, which indicate what must the e-shop be able to do. These requirements are analyzed and on the base of analysis is designed the corresponding database model and is realized the implementation using the database. The suitability and functionality of the designed model is verified on the test data using a particular database system MySQL.
Database design for high school
Schoř, Martin ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Chlapek, Dušan (referee)
The goal of this bachelor thesis is to create alternative and simpler database without unused functions, which can be used by application designed to keep a records of students and teachers and to create and manage timetable of high school. The created database should also be easily extendable. I started by analyzing high school, then created conceptual and physical model of the database and in the end described access rights of users of the database. I've also used a small data sample to test the database in Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2. The expected contribution of this thesis for teachers should be more transparent and simpler database than the one which is currently used by the consulted high schools. The created database should mainly be a contribution for students, who currently have no access at all to the school database. The thesis is mainly focused on the database design and its practical realization with theoretical parts where relevant.
Database design for online catalog of music groups
Šimeček, Petr ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Kaltoun, Jan (referee)
The aim of this paper is to describe the various stages of the process of creating the design and subsequent development of a database for the website collects information about music groups, albums and songs. The main emphasis is on optimized connections between entities and database structures and functionality allowing the use of several languages on the site without disrupting the application of the website.
Dog racing database design
Schwarzkopf, Dan ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Kaltoun, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with database design of dog racing. It focuses especially on entering dogs for races and sharing the results. Although the database is primarily intended for the purposes of dog racing in the Czech Republic, it should be applicable in any country of continental Europe where dog races are held. Only entities, relationships and attributes are defined in the database. The user tier is omitted (i.e. the database does not contain roles nor users). The thesis starts with theoretical part which describes several methods of information gathering. These methods can be used at vast range of occasions, including database design. In the next part I characterise order and way I used these methods. Then the description of displayed reality follows and at the end there are comments on procedure of creation of the database.
Database design: Community discussion board
Klepetko, Radim ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Klas, Jan (referee)
The goal of this thesis is designing a database for discussion board application, which will be able to provide classic discussion board functionality and web 2.0 features in addition. The emphasis lies on a precise description of the application requirements, which are used afterwards to design an optimal database model independent from technological implementations (chosen database system). In the end of my thesis the database design is tested using MySQL database system.
The design of database for hotels and guest houses
Vojtek, Michal ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Strossa, Petr (referee)
This bachelor's thesis presents an analysis, design and implementation of a database solution for hotels and guest houses. The main objective of the thesis is to design an efficient database solution covering the functionality of booking, online access, invoicing and complaints systems. It is a comprehensive database solution providing information support both in normal operation and for management work. The secondary objectives can be defined as methods of using the database and the identification of the database user. The thesis has been prepared based on my own experience. The first part of the thesis introduces the systems using the database; this does not refer to any specific applications but only to generally defined systems for which the thesis outlines a potential use for the database. The second part deals with the possibilities offered by the database for specific persons who come in contact with this database. The third part describes a conceptual data model, explaining all its entities and relationships and clarifying the use of integrity constraints. The fourth part introduces another integrity constraint and analyses a database adjustment for RDBMS Oracle Database Express Edition 10g, in which the functionality of the database was tested. The last part proposes security measures and defines access authorizations for tables, introduces created views limiting the volume of data visible for users, and stored procedures serving to automate certain activities.
Database design for a website about runners
Šimůnek, Dominik ; Palovská, Helena (advisor) ; Strossa, Petr (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to design a concept of a database for the website on the competitors in athletics. This includes a creation of the web application which allows the website visitors to edit, add, change or delete information mostly about the atheletes. This thesis emphasises the exact determination of the requirements concerning web functionality. The most convenient database model is created according to these requirements and afterwards implemented on the database system MySQL. Database design is a major part of this work. Second part of the thesis is dedicated to the creation of the web application while using the PHP language. The functionality of the database application and model is consequently verified by the existing data created for the pursposes of this thesis, or eventually imported from other data sources available in order to assure larger sample of the data regarding the athletes. The web application will be available on the internet for any visitor.
Database aplication for Call Centrum
