Čin magazine in years 1929-1939

The master's thesis Čin magazine in 1929 - 1939 deals with the cultural-political magazine Čin, which was issued in Prague in between the world wars. This left-wing and democratically orientated weekly, later a fortnightly, magazine focused on current cultural and public issues within former Czechoslovakia. The thesis aims to provide a thorough profile of what was an important and distinctive periodical in its time. Firstly, the thesis deals with outlining the notion of the magazine within the mass media, further on it describes the characteristics of the media landscape in the period of the first and second republic, where the printed media and their related area of problems are dealt with in detail. A subchapter on the cultural and political standing of Czechoslovakia in the 20s and 30s of the 20th century is also included, the focus is also on the position of the Čin magazine in the array of magazines of that time. The ensuing parts of the thesis already deal with the periodical itself, firstly in the period from 1929 to 1936, when the magazine was under the leadership of Marie Majerová, and secondly in the period of leadership of Bohumil Přikryl, that is from 1937 to 1939. National Fascist Community in the political system of the First Republic

The ambition of this thesis is to determine the cause of the failure of the Czech fascist movement, represented by the National Fascist Community, during the First Czechoslovak Republic and to outline the position of the party in the political system. The work focuses not only on the role of the National Fascist Community in the political system, but it also addresses the territorial distribution of its electorate and membership and its participation in the parliamentary elections. The author characterizes the party program features and deals with program distinctions between the National Fascist Community and other right-wing organizations. The fundamental research question to which the author seeks an answer is: Why the National Fascist Community, as the main representative of the Czech fascist movement, did not gain a wider support from the Czech society? To what extent the National Fascist Community distinguished itself in its program agenda from other political parties and how this influenced its position in the political system? The theme of this thesis lies at the border of the history and the political science. Discourse analysis of Velka pardubicka steeplechase phenomenon

The thesis is focused on the discoursive analysis of the Great Pardubice Steeplechase phenomenon. The race, which is considered to be the most difficult and the longest hurdle race on the European continent. In the introductory part is explained the metodology of discourse analysis, together with the technique of data collection. The work also includes a brief history of Par force hunting, which was the cause of this race creation. The empirical part of this thesis is focused on the analysis of articles from local newspapers of the period from 1880 to 2011. For greater clarity was divided into four chapters - four different historic periods - that influenced the development of the Great Pardubice Steeplechase. There is also a chapter analysing interviews contents, which were conducted on this topic. The work introduces the reader with an unusual view of this race, as the previously released publications were dedicated only to outstanding personalities whose fates were linked with the race. This piece is on the contrary focused on important aspects in its development, both in historical and social point of view.
Censorship as a political instrument for defending the republic

Bachelor thesis concerns the censorship of the press in czech language in first Czechoslovak republic. It focuses on the period in the beginning of 1930s, when the censorship grows in intensity against the press of anti-system parties - fascist and communist sheets. Thesis follows the development of press law to 1933, when efforts of economic and political stability culminated. And also because of the so-called small press law, which was adopted by government in July 1933, the censorship was stricter and many periodicals was stopped. Censorship measures was in conflict with the democratic idea of the state, but limites of its using and the times of anti-democratic dangers became its defense and the crisis lead to the rise of the "militant democracy".
Zbrojení v meziválečném Československu z hlediska hospodářské politiky

The aim is to show how important was a phenomenon of arms during a very short period of time from an economic point of view. The individual chapters are discussed the effects of the most important events of the First Republic to develop defense industry and the connection between the Ministry of National Defense and the Czechoslovak arms companies. Particular attention is paid to the issue of arms export and I try to determine a degree of mutual interaction of arms export and the national economy. And especially after it began the full show of the new threat of global conflict and raised the question of whether to prefer a bigger reserve of weapons, ammunition and military equipment in view of losses of foreigner exchange , or vice versa.
The Journal "Červen"

This thesis deals with a thorough analysis of the various editions of The Journal Červen which was published over the period of 1918 to 1921. Within three years of its existence arose four editions of the journal, while the content and genre focus has been transformed. Depending on this fact, the journal was altered and a group of authors who contributed to the journal with their texts, whether in the field of artistic or politically oriented articles. This bachelor thesis pursues these changes and gives a task to describe them. Our work occasionally deals with the socio-cultural context of the early 20s of the 20th century and chooses such historic events which could affect the final look of the journal. The main goal of this work is a description of four editions of The Journal Červen, its general characteristics, analysis of selected cases and mostly heuristic activity, without which could make our work could not begin.
Jaroslav Preiss and role of Živnostenská Bank in Monetary and Fiscal Policy of interwar Czechoslovakia

On december 8th, 1868, was Živnostenská bank for Bohemia and Moravia in Prague established in the meeting hall of the Old Town Hall in Prague. This bank became one of the leading banks in Austria-Hungary with the czech capital. This thesis deals with the issue of ZB activities and about its managing director Jaroslav Preiss during the 20s , the era of so called First Republic. The thesis is focus on the person of Jaroslav Preiss, his life, career and influence on the economy in Czechoslovakia. In the next part of the thesis will be analyzed the history and influence of Živnostenská bank after the First World War, as well as the economic situation in Czechoslovakia Key sources are unpublished sources in the archives of the Czech National Bank, including annual reports and Preiss's private correspondence.
Czechoslovak state budgets 1918-1929

This thesis deals with Czechoslovak state budgets between years 1918-1938. First introduces the reader to the various phases which had to be undergone to admit Law on state budget. After that disclouses income and expenditures. In detail describes the variol direct and indirect items of the state budget. It also shows what has changed in the construction of budgets in the decade. The second view of how this thesis is looking on the budget is the practical -- economic perpective. Based on an analysis of each budget period reveals the effort of single Ministr of Finance of the balanced budget, to which many of them just suit or cause ganges in their structure. The thesis sets down two periods in terms of logic of budgeting -- expenditure, which is characteristic for the beginning and the end of the period, and the income.

Czech aryanisation and anti–semitism in thirties

The bachelor thesis on the topic of Czech aryanisation and anti--semitism in thirties is describing, on the background of historical events, displays of hate against Jews in a period of liberal first republic and authoritarian second republic. The first chapter of this thesis follows activities of anti-semites and individual Jewish streams during the first republic. One part of this chapter is composed of author's analysis about a periodical named Vlajka, which was being published by a fascist organisation. In the second chapter, there are described fascist actions against Jews during the second republic and also anti-semitic exposures of the party Národní jednota. Besides, the chapter is also dealing with anti-semitic legislation. The last, third chapter is engaged in the problems of Czech aryanisation and tries to explain its rising illusion. The end of this chapter is also dealing with a historical period of Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, to explain the process of expropriation of Jewish properties in Czech lands. So the purpose of this bachelor thesis is to define how the Anti -- Semitism was expressed during thirties in Czech lands.
