The attitude of nursing branch students at South Bohemia University - Health Care and Social Studies Faculty to paliative care.
MAŠKOVÁ, Vlasta
Thesis title: Approach to palliative care among nursing care students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the South Bohemian University. This bachelor thesis is dedicated to students undergoing their practical training in St. Jan Nepomuk Neumann Hospice in Prachatice. I decided to choose this topic for several reasons. Hospices are often discussed nowadays, they are massively publicized and numerous charity events are held for hospices. Nevertheless people do not have confidence in hospices, they are afraid of them. This might be the first reason. The other one is my own experience with students coming to the hospice for their practical training. I work in the hospice as a ward sister and am in everyday contact with the students. Unfortunately most of the students are persuaded at the beginning of their training that death comes every day to this ?house?. They have fear and cannot imagine how to cope with this situation during a fortnight stay?! The aim of our research was to find out whether the present studies influence the attitudes to the incurably ill among the students. Whether their attitudes change after the theoretical and practical training. We set two basic questions to reach the goal. 1: How does theoretical schooling of palliative care influence the attitudes of students to the care for the incurably ill in the hospice? 2: How does practical training of palliative care influence the attitudes of students to the care for the incurably ill in the hospice? The research was implemented in two phases: before the start of theoretical schooling of palliative care and after the practical training in the hospice. We used the experiment method; a deep interview with student was the questioning technique. The research sample consisted of 5 full-time students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of the South Bohemian University, specialization of general nurse. After processing the responses we found out that the attitude to the care for the dying had not changed a lot after theoretical schooling. The students feel lack of theoretical information that would help them eliminate the fear of unknown situation, fear of pain, fear of everyday confrontation with death and dying people. They also do not feel prepared for communication with the close relatives of the dying people. They are convinced that there is not enough time for such a complicated topic like care for incurably ill people in the schooling. Practical training in the hospice changes the attitudes of the students to the incurably ill. They were provided more information on the palliative-hospice care. They assess their own attitudes to the care of the terminally ill more positively and they no longer talk about fear and uncertainty. They would like to have more personal experience with communication with the patients and their families. The goal of the research was met. The present studies do influence students? attitudes to palliative care of the incurably ill in a hospice. However the fear of this not really new field still prevails. Changes only occur after practical training. The research results may be used for grasping the students? feelings, for possible modification of the didactics and methodology of theoretical and practical training in palliative care. The elaborated informational brochure might also help students choose practical placement and make the start of the practical training in an inpatient hospice easier.

Student´s learning styles
BICANOVÁ, Michaela
The main topics of this thesis are students? learning styles. The text is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The former deals with the students? learning styles in a theoretical way. Basic idea is mapping of the fundamental concepts of pedagogical educational process and the definition outline of the main concept of a learning style. The text deals with the possibilities of influencing a learning style from the student?s part, as well as from the teacher?s or other external ones. There are defined and described the types of learning styles, its diagnostics, potentials of influence and possible changes in the former part of this thesis. The latter, practical-based, part focuses at comparison of learning styles of secondary vocational schools (finished by the leaving exam) students and grammar schools students. In the process of qualitative research there are two aims set and two hypotheses pertaining to each of these aims. The first aim is to find out which learning style students prefer regarding the school type they attend. There are two hypotheses pertaining to this aim. The first one presumes that secondary vocational school students prefer the strategic style, whereas the second hypothesis presumes that grammar schools students prefer the in-depth learning style. The second aim is to discover what intelligence skills students use regarding the school type. Again, there are two hypotheses pertaining to this aim. The first one presumes that secondary vocational school students tend to use the interpersonal intelligence skills in the learning process, whereas the second hypothesis presumes that grammar school students prefer to use the logical and mathematic skills in the learning process. The information detected by the questionnaire research is graphically demonstrated in diagrams with comments. The findings about confirmation or disproval of the hypotheses are summarized in the discussion and conclusion parts.

The Awareness of HIV/AIDS among students of the Secondary Health School in Písek
NOVOTNÁ, Jana
HIV / AIDS places many governmental, national and international organizations in a difficult situation. Despite the global efforts aimed at the prevention and treatment of this disease, the number of HIV positive persons as well as people dying of AIDS is increasing every year. It is considered that a key role to reduce this trend is played by education, especially among teenagers, who are one of the most vulnerable groups in the transmission of HIV / AIDS. Healthcare professionals should have enough quality information about the issue of HIV / AIDS, because it may just be they who will be one of the links leading to the reduction in the incidence of this infectious disease. This thesis, titled ?Informing students of the Secondary Medical Schools Písek about HIV / AIDS?, contains two parts. The first one is theoretical and it deals with general issues of HIV / AIDS, its characteristics, history, epidemiology, transmission, clinical picture, diagnostics, and treatment. Moreover, it deals with possible methods of preventing HIV transmission, including prevention of HIV transmission in healthcare facilities. This part does not omit the role of peer education and nurses as possible mediators for the transmission of information on preventing HIV / AIDS transmission. The second part summarizes the results of quantitative research, which was conducted with the participation of students of the Secondary Medical School in Písek in the survey. The questionnaire, intended for the students of the said school, was designed in order to verify the knowledge of future healthcare professionals about HIV / AIDS and also it asked whether the students, as adolescents, behave in a way as to increase the risk of HIV transmission. In the questionnaire, which contained 22 questions, the students could express their subjective views on the quality and amount of information about HIV / AIDS provided in their classes at school. The research results were processed and presented by the graphs, bar as well as pie ones, in the empirical part of this thesis. After reviewing the results from the questionnaire these hypotheses were confirmed: H1 Students know the methods of preventing HIV infection. H2 Higher-form students have a wider knowledge of the principles of HIV / AIDS than students of lower forms. In contrast, hypothesis H3 was disproved , which was: ?Students of all forms at the SZŠ in Písek have more information on HIV / AIDS, as compared to an earlier research, than students of another non-medical branch secondary school?. For this purpose, the results of a thesis by Lucie Stříteská were used. Stříteská studied the level of knowledge about HIV / AIDS among students of a secondary vocational school in Valašské Meziříčí in 2008. The results of this thesis can be used by the Secondary Medical School in Písek, or its management and teachers, to learn about the level of students? knowledge about HIV / AIDS and to intensify education in areas where students do not have a good knowledge level during the study.
The attitude of university students to future family and parenting
VALVODOVÁ, Jana
In the 90s of the last century there was a great transformation in family behaviour in the Czech Republic. Values and value orientation changed and so did the attitude towards the traditional division of roles in the family. Young people have a lot of possibilities related to their career and lifestyle (singles), which do not always correspond with a traditional form of life together (marriage). The aim of the Bachelor´s thesis was to find out the attitude of students of the Faculty of Health and Social Studies of University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice towards the institute of marriage and parenting. A partial aim was to discover whether the students prefer marriage or alternative forms of life together and their view of family and professional life, division of roles of a man and woman in a family and their attitudes towards parenting. The theoretical part includes the description of problems of a family, marriage and parenting. I also deal with the roles of a man-father, woman-mother, university education, employment of women and dual-career marriages. I got this information through a content analysis of secondary data. The research part was carried out in the form of quantitative examination. The data were acquired through the method of questioning, the technique of questionnaire. The research results suggest that the institutes of family and marriage are still very important for the university students. The vast majority of the university students want to live in a marriage. However, most of them prefer to get married after a certain period of life together. Having finished their bachelor´s degree, the students largely give priority to go on to study for a master´s degree before they establish a family. Most of the students plan to be married with two children, with the first child being born after they finish their studies or even longer. The research results bring information on future family behaviour of university students and their attitudes towards further studies. The results may serve as a basis for next research related to behaviour of present university students after they finish studying.
Public awareness raising in relation to assessing the evidence and circumstances of the crime situation scam.
MICHAL, Petr
There has been a significant societal change in the early nineties in the Czech Republic which has brought many new phenomena. The increase in crime was one of the events to which modern society was not ready. Development of post-Communist society has been uneven in all aspects. The legislative process in an emerging democratic state system was poor. As a result, a specific group of people took advantage from this situation. They have exploited loopholes in existing legislation to commit a crime. This group of offenders, in search of easy profits, then committed crimes and fraud. This thesis deals with fraud as one of the statistically most spread offenses. Law enforcement and criminal proceedings document the notification of victims when deciding the case as far as possible, which allows them existing legislation. Until the last final court decision, none of the parties is certain about the outcome of proceedings. Bachelor thesis on public awareness regarding the circumstances of committing fraud conducted a survey of respondents in the age group between 30-40 years.

Motives for Drug Taking at High Schools Students in Jindřichův Hradec
VESELÁ, Alice
Nowadays Czech young people have more and more experience with addictive substances, particularly with alcohol, nicotine and marihuana. Therefore the author has decided to find out the most frequent motives leading to drugs taking at high schools students. Due to the lack of relevant information for this area the author maps out the situation in the district of Jindřichův Hradec. Statistics concerning the issue of drugs taking are always related to the regions or the whole Czech Republic. The author has carried out quantitative research using the method of questioning and the technique of the anonymous questionnaire. The set was determined by the quote random sample and the quote was the age, sex and type of school. The basic research set consisted of three subsets. Research set A involved students from Gymnasium schools, research set B involved students from other secondary schools and research set C involved students from apprentice training centres. The research showed that the motives for drugs taking are not much different with respect to students from individual schools. According to the secondary school students in Jindřichův Hradec there belong among the most frequent motives longing for unusual experience and the inability to solve their problem or life crisis in a different way than by using the addictive substance. Further there was proved that students of apprentice training centres have more frequent experience with drugs taking than students from secondary school and Gymnasium schools. Contribution of the Bachelor thesis lies in the mapping out secondary schools of the Jindřichův Hradec area with respect to the drug taking issue which was according to the opinions of schools headmasters missing for generating a complex conception of the drug taking issue in the area. The author assumes that making a research particularly in smaller regions could help to solve the drug taking issue generally. The author also recommends more frequent lectures on drug taking issue and excursions to establishments for drug addicts.
