Liberalization of international trade within WTO - Problematic aspects

The main goal of this thesis is to identify the most problematic area of trade liberalization process within the WTO. The thesis is based on the presumption, that in the WTO context exist three potentially problematic areas - institutional, political and technical. The thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter discusses institutional framework of the WTO. The second chapter contains analysis of positions and interests of the important member states. It also includes political and economic background of their attitude towards trade liberalization. Special attention is given to the various aspects of the relationship between advanced developing and developed countries. The third chapter is made up of three parts that correspond to the economic sectors and that describe technical aspect of negotiations about sensitive questions of liberalization. In conclusion, state of negotiations is summed up and some presumptions about the future of the negotiations and the WTO are presented.
China‘s Accession to WTO

The thesis provides an overview of changes in Chinese trade and economic policy that led to a dramatic expansion of China's economy and strengthen its international relations. First of all, paper describes provides a historical background of the reforms that affected the future direction of China. Then it analyzes the first reform steps, which was followed in creating of an appropriate economic environment, which satisfies the WTO requirements. The text explains the reasons, which led to China's WTO accession, and which force the country to conclude several economically disadvantageous agreements with particular Member States. The thesis presents the basic principles of the WTO and the most problematic areas for China. The author examines how the accession negotiation was conducted, and how China managed to meet its obligations. The conclusion deals with assessing the consequences of the entry to the Chinese economy and economic relations with other states.
The Influence of International Organizations on the Position of Developing Countries in Global Economy

The aim of this thesis is to find out how developing countries are involved into the global economy, what are the differences in engagement of different regions, and how international organizations (in particular IMF, WB, WTO and UNCTAD) influence the position of developing countries. The thesis also aims to evaluate conditions and possible developmental strategies, as well as causes of unsuccessful engagement. Further, the critical view on functioning of international organizations is brought. The thesis is divided into two parts; each of them consists of four chapters. The first part as a whole deals with the differentiation among developing countries and ways they are involved into the world economy. The second part shows the role of international institutions in the process of integration of developing countries.
Transatlantic relations in the context of the Framework Agreement

This bachelor thesis covers the trade relations between the United States and European Union. It makes readers familiar with the Euro-Atlantic trade and with the volume of trade flows between the U.S. and the EU in various sectors. It describes the trade between the EU and the U.S. according to the multilateral agreements in the WTO as well as to the single bilateral agreements. It outlines the barriers to trade in selected examples of trade disputes and determines the tariff and non-tariff barriers in transatlantic relations. The last Framework Agreement between the U.S. and EU is described more in details and focuses on the progress which was made under the Framework.
Analysis of EU´s trade disputes over beef produced using growth hormones

The first chapter of the work deals with the circumstances that preceded the controversy on hormone-treated beef between the EU and the U.S. and the EU and Canada. The second chapter analyzes the international beef trade (production, consumption, imports, exports). Finally, the third chapter analyzes in detail the controversy over imports of hormone-treated beef into the EU, ie. the subject of the dispute, the parties, its result and outcome of the appeal. This chapter also discusses the reasons for the complexity of the dispute and its importance for the dispute settlement system under the WTO and for the SPS rules.
The Russian Federation's membership in the WTO

The aim of this study is to analyze the current readiness of Russia to become a member of WTO and to analyze how this membership will impact the russian economy generally.That is why this work set out the following tasks: In the first chapter - to explore the specific activities of the World Trade Organization, to determine its objectives and functions. In the second chapter - to explore the various stages of the Russia's accession to WTO and define the emerging results and complications. In the third chapter, I consider it necessary to examine the current status of Russia in international trade. Some attention will be paid to attitude of Russia's largest trading partners to accession. In the fourth chapter - to explore how Russian accession to the WTO will impact its main sectors and analyze the impact of economic liberalization on the overall economic situation in the country. In the final chapter - to explore possible ways of reforming the economy
China´s trade relations post-WTO accession

First chapter describes World Trade Organization. This chapter describes foundation, agreements establishing this organization and its structure. Second chapter focus on trade liberalization in China and on its transition from centrally planned economy to socialist market economy. Third chapter is analysis of China's trade relations post-WTO accession. It describes China's trade relations with its most important trading parners USA, EU, Japan, ASEAN and its specific trade relations with Special Administrative Region Hong Kong and with Russia.

First three chapters consist of theoretical part that describe function of the World Trade Organization, Common Trade Policy of European Community and contract arrangement with chosen countries or integration arrangements. Center of this work is based on characteristic of origin and evolution of MERCOSUR including description of its institutional structure. Special emphasis is given on analysis of evolution of trade relations between European Union and MERCOSUR and common trade structure. A summary in Spanish and a trilingual glossary are included.
The Czech Republic in international organizations

The bachelor thesis is focused on the cooperation of the Czech Republic with the selected business international organizations, the International Monetary Fund, World Bank Group, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development and the World Trade Organization. The main objective was to determine the status and benefits of the Czech Republic in the framework of international organizations. As a secondary objective was set a brief introduction to international organizations, which is a member of the Czech Republic, identify the advantages and disadvantages of the Czech Republic from these international organizations.
