Uterus transplantation as a path to motherhood

This thesis describes relatively new method of assisted reproduction. Uterus transplantation is viewed from feminist perspective, and its potential benefits and risks in wider ethical and social contexts on theoretical level are being considered. It reveals how womanhood and motherhood are constructed in different discourses in context of uterine transplantation through critical reading and thinking. By using of critical discourse analysis I focus on texts produced on this subject in the popular and professional discourse and reveal what kind of gender stereotypes and constructs they are using to support their arguments. These areas of our everyday lives have great power in society and influence the way we perceive and construct reality and thus participate in its creation. Men on parental leave from the perspective of social workers.

The thesis focuses on the issue of men on the parental leave from the point of view of the social workers whose profession brings them to these men most often. The social workers are able to assess the extent of the fathers involvement in the everyday care of the minor children and by that adequately evaluate the appropriateness of man's use of the parental leave. Our society puts emphasis on the gender equality and the child care is now being a matter of both parents. Anyhow, due to the gender stereotypes still existing in the society, different attitude towards females and males has developed. Even though such division does not always match setting, interests or needs of the particular individual, people are often being misled by the gender identity. The social workers should take into account the individuals characteristics, abilities and opinion, before succumbing to the notion of the natural behaviour. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to find out how men on the parental leave are being perceived by the social workers focused on the family and children. Based on the research, the questions should be answered, if the attitudes of the social workers towards men on the parental leave are stereotyped, if the social workers are opened to the alternatives of the parental care or if they support the traditional distribution of roles in the society. To get the needed data, the qualitative research and the technique of the in-depth interview had been used. The research group consisted of 7 social workers focused on family and children from České Budějovice. The research showed that the respondents are mostly positive about men on the parental leave. Although they find it less usual, they do not see any problem in men taking care of the children. All the respondents agreed on the importance of the agreement between the parents and on the necessity of acceptance of different opinions.

In addition to gender and school connection problematic

The topic of this bachelor's thesis is gender and aspects of gender in schoo-ling. The work is divided into two parts. The first part deals with the theoretical analysis of the term gender and chapters connected with this term. It introduces the issues of gender, feminism, gender role and gender stereotype. It also deals with gender considering the language and its usage in schools. The first part of this work also mentions curriculum and textbooks, describing proper criteria of a correct textbook. The practical part contains the assessment of the gender rightness of four different textbooks of Czech language for the second grade of the basic schools based on theoretical findings. The goal of this work is to intro-duce the gender issues and explain the importance of gender aspect for schools.
