Bibliographic identification: PTÁČEK, Jiří. Influence Of Cycling Movement Of Lower Extremities On Changes In Blood Pressure And Pulse Repetition Frequency. Prague: Charles University. 2nd Faculty of Medicine. Department of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, 2017. 70p. Supervisor doc. MUDr. Jiří Kříž, PhD. Author's first name and surname: Bc. Jiří Ptáček Title of the diploma thesis: Influence of cycling movement of lower extremities on changes in blood pressure and pulse repetition frequency Department: Department of physiotherapy Supervisor: doc. MUDr. Jiří Kříž, Ph.D. The year of presentation: 2018 Abstract: Due to permanent neurological impairment, patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) are put at risk of complications caused by immobility such as ischemic heart diseases, obesity and metabolic syndrome, which again increases their morbidity and mortality. Based on recent studies, passive cycling (PC) could have protective influence on SCI patients' cardiovascular system. The objective of this thesis is to verify whether PC will effect a change in heart rate and blood pressure in SCI patients and whether or not this reaction depends on the position of spinal cord injury, and hence on intact sympathetic innervation (the line was drawn at Th6 - below and above) 17 patients of Special Unit at Motol...
Salt intake in women over 60 years and impact of food on their blood pressure
KLOUZKOVÁ, Barbora
Worldwide reported about salt intake is higher than the recommended amount. Actually literature reported amount by 5 - 7 g of NaCl per day. Czech Republic has same recommended number of NaCl. My bachelor thesis is about to find out how is the salt intake for selected respondents over 60 years old and how this quantity have effect to their blood pressure. I chose a qualitative research method, where I tracked salt intake, urine waste and blood pressure values. I didn´t use any nutritional databases, when I got the amount of salt I received. I checked the packages of foods that reported the amount of salt. Thanks to EU Regulation 1169/2011, it is now the duty of the manufacturer write quantity of NaCl on the packages of product. I also weighed all the salt we added to the foods. On the basis of these calculations, I determined the intake of NaCl per day and total of four days. I chose those foods, which salt intake was on the packages and I knew exactly amount. I measured the blood pressure, at the same time. The values from the morning, at noon and in the evening I wrote. Eventually, I collected urine, which was subsequently examined for mineral waste on the last day. As a check to see if the waste corresponds to intake, serve test results from laboratory. On the basis of the research, we found out that the recommended personal daily intake of NaCl was not exceeded, in this age category. The blood pressure values did not correspond to hypertension, and the results from the laboratory, correspond to the amount of salt received.
Blood pressure estimation using smartphone
Vařečka, Martin ; Vítek, Martin (referee) ; Němcová, Andrea (advisor)
Blood pressure is one of the basic indicators of the health state of the cardiovascular system. High blood pressure is the main risk factor of ischemic heart disease, atherosclerosis and stroke. Therefore, it is important to monitor long-term changes in blood pressure and respond in time to these changes. Blood pressure meters are not standard household equipment, while a well-equipped smartphone is. Smartphones contain a large number of sensors capable of measuring biomedical signals. This thesis focuses on creating an application capable of determining blood pressure using data obtained from these sensors.
Analysis of measured parameters of the cardiovascular system
Lysoň, Jakub ; Vítek, Martin (referee) ; Kratochvíla, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis talks about the measurement of heart electrical activity by twelve lead ECG. The diagnostic system Biopac is used for measurement, featured by the computer program Acqknowledge. The own authentic method is designed to detect effect of load on increasing in blood pressure and heartbeat. Using a statistical procedure for testing hypotheses in this area the measurement results will be evaluated. For the analysis of measured data in time and frequency domain was used program Matlab, in which the measured results were imported. It was created functions that are implemented in an medium of Guide to the graphic design program.
Selected technology monitoring in intesive care in a historical context
KNAJZLOVÁ, Petra
The diploma thesis presents the development of selected monitoring techniques of basic life functions in historical continuity. From the measured variables, this work includes measurements of cardiac activity, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and body temperature of the adults patients with intensice care in a historical context. This is a theoretical diploma thesis, which is divided into several chapters describing the history of nursing, a view of the monitoring in intesive care in the historical context to the presents. The first part of this historical work describes the beginnings of nursing. Its own origin and development, until now. The prestige of the nurse´s profession is formed by the society. In the leading positions in medicine previously dominated the men, in nursing care mainly women. A balanced relationship between a nurse and a doctor has been and is very important. The next part is devoted to the development of intensive care and the development of the role of the nurse in these departmenst. The history of intensive care has led to new partnership relationships between physician and nurse. There was an unfamiliar environment in which critical patients had to be cared for. This new role for the sister led to the increase of copetencies, there was a need to increase the education activity that focused on intensive care area. The view of urgent condition has changed over time. Already in the early sources, the urgent condition was described as a condition in which the health and life of the affected person is urgently threatened. These urgent conditions gave rise to the first beds for intensive care. Futher, the development of all monitoring techniques to date, servise of the monitoring technology. The negatives associated with monitoring technology are described too. The thesis will be used as a preview of changing nursing care in the context of changes in monitoring techniques of the intensive care.
Influence of cervical spinal cord lesion on cardiovascular fitness
Machač, Stanislav ; Kolář, Pavel (advisor) ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (referee) ; Nováková, Marie (referee)
Traumatic damage to the cervical spinal cord has a dramatic impact on determinants affecting cardiovascular fitness. In tetraplegia, in addition to diminished skeletal muscle function, impaired sympathetic cardiovascular innervation together with a dysfunction of catecholamine release is typically present. Individuals with tetraplegia are at a high risk of long-term inactivity, which increasingly contributes to the development of common civilization diseases. The aim of the current dissertation project is to investigate the cardiovascular fitness in males with cervical spinal cord injury (n=20) as compared to able- bodied males (n=27). Both groups completed exercise testing on an arm-crank ergometer. Arterial blood pressure response to exercise, peak oxygen consumption and peak heart rate were the primary outcome variables. In the first part of the study, a graded maximal arm- crank ergometer test to the subjective exhaustion was performed for the inter-group peak exercise comparison. The peak power dramatically differs between the groups and could be an important confounding factor limiting the evaluation of a physiologic response related to the equivalent physical loading. Therefore, in the second part of the study, individuals of the control group completed a second graded arm-crank ergometer...
The effect of sauna on the changes of blood pressure
Benko, Michal ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Heller, Jan (referee)
Title: The effect of sauna on the changes of blood pressure Objectives: The aim of this study was the measure of the physiological range (blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation) of two selected groups of people within the sauna cycle, assess changes and compare the results of individual probands and groups. Methods: This thesis is conducted as an experimental study. This is a quantitative method, in that will be at first established hypotheses and then evaluated on the basis of the obtained results. The independent variable in this research is the sauna and dependent variables are blood pressure, heart rate and blood oxygen saturation. Results: Blood pressure values were at employee of sauna lower than at other probands, thereby was confirmed hypothesis, but expected significant differences between the measured values of each group were absent. At the same time there was a further confirmation of the hypothesis concerning heart rate, which was increased at all probands. The last confirmed hypothesis related to the blood oxygen saturation and its reduce after the sauna. It could be said that all the defined hypotheses were confirmed. Keywords: sauna, blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen saturation, cardiovascular system

Reactions of cardiovascular system to locomat therapy in patients with lesion of the spinal cord
Stráníková, Kateřina ; Radvanský, Jiří (advisor) ; Kříž, Jan (referee)
Introduction - This thesis focuses on the reaction of cardiovascular system to Lokomat therapy in patients with lesion of the spinal cord. It observes reaction of the heart rate and systolic blood pressure and compares with the cardiovascular response to the exercise on an upper body ergometer. Methods - We recruited 25 patients with spinal cord lesion under Th 5 and 4 patients with lesion above Th 5. The blood pressure was measured. The heart rate was measured by by ambulatory blood pressure monitor and an auscultatory method using a mercury manometer and a stethoscope a sporttester. Patients were measured during the Locomat therapy and the exercise on an upper body ergometer during the 6-minute arm test. Results - The parameters of systolic blood pressure and heart rate had a tendency to increase with the peak in 25th minute of the therapy. There was no significant difference between the patients with lesion under or above Th5. The parameters of heart rate were significantly higher on the upper body ergometer than on Lokomat. Conclusion - The Lokomat therapy does have a positive influence to cardiovascular system of patients with complete or incomplete spinal cord injury. When using this approach, the most important benefit is the possibility to activate all parts of body. Keywords: spinal cord injury,...
