Transnational corporations have become economic superpowers and their number is still increasing. Their influence is undeniable. Their activities penetrate into all corners of society, including the social and environmental area. However, their impact is not always perceived in a positive way. This bachelor thesis deals with the regulation of companies whose activities have crossed their homeland borders and its aim is to describe the change in behaviour of transnational corporations and reveal their real reason for being socially responsible.

The second chapter depicts position of the largest transnational corporations in the world economy. It also focuses on R&D and transfer pricing. The third chapter deals with foreign direct investment. It defines important terms, describes the present situation on the FDI market, examines the determinants of location of FDI and their impacts on engaged economies.

Economic globalization (with focus on economic growth in BRICs)

Main goal of this study is to objectively describe the ongoing economic globalization. First chapter describes main attributes and some of the factors which cause globalization. Study shows some of the latest statistics from World Bank. Big focus is devoted to some effects of globalization like decreasing poverty, raising inequality, emergence of worldwide capital markets, increased importance of multinational corporations, or how globalization positively affects economic growth. Study also describes uncertain future of globalization, which is caused by ongoing economic crisis. The focus of this study is put on the economic development in the BRICs (Brazil, Russia, India and China). These four countries are described as examples of the mentioned effects of globalization.

This diploma paper provides an overview of operation and meaning of multinational corporations in the modern global economy and in the economy of the Czech Republic. Likewise, the paper presents a comparison of conditions and consequences, connected with the activities of multinational corporations in the economies of Russian Federation and Czech Republic. During the process of studying the history and modern reality of multinational corporations in Czech Republic the author wanted to realize, how substantial was their influence in Czech economy. By comparison with multinational corporations' activities in Russian economy the author finds out, whether the scenario is unique in Czech republic, or it is possible to find certain analogues in other countries.

První část je úvodem do problematiky nadnárodních společností v té nejobecnější rovině, druhá kapitola popisuje geografickou a sektorovou koncentraci transnacionálních korporací a působení nadnárodních podniků ve specifickém oboru vědy a výzkumu, ve třetí části práce jsou uvedeny dopady existence transnacionálních společností na světovou ekonomiku.
