The Use of McKenzie Approach in the Therapy of low Back Pain.

Title of thesis The Use of McKenzie Approach in the Therapy of Low Back Pain. Abstract: The present thesis addresses the issue of treatment of low back pain and in this respect considers the effectiveness of the McKenzie method. The first sections of the theoretical part of this thesis are focused on the kinesiology and pathology of the components of the lumbar spine. Further sections explain the principles of the mechanical diagnosis and therapy, i.e. the McKenzie method. Their focus is to present the specific features and advantages of this approach. The aim of the practical part is to assess the effectiveness of the McKenzie method in patients with chronic low back pain whose previous treatment had no or only a short term effect. Qualitative research based on three case studies has been chosen to achieve this aim. By assessing and comparing both subjective parameters (e.g. the intensity, distribution and frequency of pain) and objective parameters (e.g. the range of motion, neurological symptoms) before and after the treatment by the McKenzie method, its effectiveness for the use in therapy of chronic low back pain was determined. The usage of Manual physiotherapeutical correction method in the therapy of the radicular syndrome of lower limbs

This Bachelor thesis will compare the examination process and kinesiological analysis of two patients diagnosed with root syndrome of the lower limbs using the MFK method. I will examine whether the results in the MFK system confirm the kinesiology analysis, and whether using the MFK physiotherapy method on symptoms associated with root syndrome of the lower extremities can have a positive effect. MFK method is relatively new in the field of physiotherapy. I would therefore like to examine the above mentioned neurological diagnosis to see whether the myokinetic activation examinations with visualization of the motor system as used by the MFK method provides benefits to examination methods used in physiotherapy. Root syndrome is a disease based on structural damage to the spine, spinal canal or intervertebral discs, accompanied by functional subjective and objective manifestations. I have narrowed the selection of subjects to include patients with root syndrome caused by prolapsed intervertebral discs. Pain is the primary symptom, but root syndrome is accompanied by other sensory and motor symptoms. The patient's subjective symptoms significantly quality of life, and so will be an important indicator of the effectiveness of the applied methods.

Use of interactive device Homebalance® in therapy of vertebrogenic algic syndrome

The topic of the bachelor's thesis is the use of internal Homebalance® aids, certified as a medical device class I, in therapy in patients diagnosed with vertebrogenic algic syndrome. The work introduces this technology and isdivided into two parts, theoretical and practical. In the practical part, two case reports of patients with this are processed diagnosis. The evaluation of the effectiveness of the therapy is performed by comparing the input and output examination, which uses the measurement of the distance spine, body weight distribution using two scales, pain evaluation according to the NRS scale (The Numeric Rating Scale) and automatic evaluation of the exercise with the Homebalance® system. Finally, a comparison of the effectiveness of therapy performed in one patient only with the Homebalance® device with the Homebalance® device therapy combined with therapy with proven physiotherapeutic methods and concepts (DNS and McKenzie exercise elements) in the other patient

The application of combination therapy in the treatment of cervical and lumbar spine pain

This bachelor thesis deals with the effect of combination therapy (simultaneous application of electrotherapy and therapeutic ultrasound) in the treatment of vertebral algic syndrome in the cervical spine and lower back with a significant functional component (trigger points) without radicular symptoms. Furthermore, the effect of the treatment is compared with the effectiveness of transcutaneous electroneurostimulation. The theoretical part of this bachelor thesis is devoted to the description of the vertebral algic syndrome and the used treatment methods. The research part is focused on verifying the effects of combination therapy and transcutaneous electroneurostimulation, using each method in combination with individual therapeutic exercise. A total of twenty adult participants were included in the study, ten of whom were treated with combination therapy and ten were treated with transcutaneous electroneurostimulation. The effects of the therapies have been evaluated using selected pain questionnaire methods (visual analog scale, short form of the McGill Pain Questionnaire, Neck Disability Index, Oswestry Disability Index) and combination therapy intended for diagnostic purposes.
