Analysis of the stock index volatility on European stock exchanges
Švehla, Pavel ; Hušek, Roman (advisor) ; Pelikán, Jan (referee)
This thesis focuses on analysis and comparison of volatility on selected European stock markets. At first paper briefly introduces the reader to the specific features of financial econometrics and the importance of asset returns volatility analysis. Further chapters precisely cover the construction of linear and nonlinear conditional heteroscedasticity models as an appropriate tool for describing the volatility in financial data. The empirical part of the thesis analyze four stock exchange indices from various European regions and seek appropriate models to express volatility behavior in period before the financial crisis in 2008 and also during the crisis phase. Based on selected models, the paper tries to compare the volatility in both periods within the specific stock market index and moreover between different regions. The last section examines asymmetric effects in volatility of stock indices using their graphical representation.

Support of using date and time in programming languages
Bendák, Martin ; Pavlíčková, Jarmila (advisor) ; Gála, Libor (referee)
The main object of this bachelor thesis is the support of using date and time analysis in following programming languages: Java, Visual Basic, C++, C, QBasic, PL/SQL, Lisp and Prolog. This thesis is categorized into two logical blocks. First one describes different types of calendarsand differences in the date and time formatting throughout the world. There is a Czech standard ČSN ISO 8601 related to this issue that defines unified dates interpretation in international data exchange. The second block analyses available tools for working with date and time in different programming languages. The bridge between both blocks are criteria defined by main areas (support of: gregorian calendar, 24-hour clock, formatting and other calendar systems).

Geochemical and isotopic dating of recent flood sediments of Morava River
Nováková, Tereza
This study was focused on fluvial sedimentary records in the southern part of Morava River - all studied profiles are situated in the study area called Strážnické Pomoraví. Geochemical dating methods and analysis which were applied on river sedimentary records in profiles in this part of Morava River; were performed to show that fluvial sedimentary records are useful environmental archives for determination of anthropogenic contamination in the last 100 - 200 years. Determination of depth dependence of heavy metals - especially Pb, Zn and Cu and other methods such as determination of Pb isotopic ratios and magnetic susceptibility were used for chemostratigraphic correlation of studied profiles. Cation exchange capacity, lithological description of profiles and elementary analysis using EDXRF were used for facial description of profiles. Possibility of using the 137Cs method for geochemical dating of sedimentary profiles was also investigated.

Phylogeny and biogeography of Neotropical and African riverine cichlids: multilocus phylogenetic methods in the evolutionary studies
Musilová, Zuzana ; Novák, Jindřich (advisor) ; Bryja, Josef (referee) ; Reichard, Martin (referee)
Summary: The thesis comprises from the introduction and five main parts: three of them are published papers, the rest two are manuscripts prepared for submitting to the scientific journals. The first two are published phylogenetic studies of the cichlasomatine cichlids based on (1) molecular characters, and (2) both morphological and molecular data with the description of a new genus Andinoacara. The third (3) is the already published description of the new species Andinoacara stalsbergi from Peru combining both morphological and phylogenetic approaches and including the detailed phylogeny of the genus Andinoacara. The next unpublished manuscript (4) is the more detailed comprehensive phylogeography of the two non-relative genera (including Andinoacaras) of the trans-Andean cichlids. Including all valid species from the majority of their distribution areas it was reconstructed the ancestral area of both genera in the Choco region, Colombia, and revealed the directions of their distribution spreading. The last (5) unpublished manuscript is the phylogeographical study of the cichlid genus Serranochromis from the headwaters of the totally unknown Central Angola. It showed several evidences of the faunal exchange among the adjacent river systems. Lastly, the thesis is supplemented by several appendices...

Deposition and mobility of Pb in floodplain of Morava River in Strážnice area
Gemeinerová, Veronika ; Grygar, Tomáš Matys (advisor) ; Hruška, Jakub (referee)
This work was focused on geochemical methods and analyses which were used for lithologic and facial description of floodplain sedimentary records and also for determination of depth dependence of Pb concentration and evaluation of possible mobility of Pb in six profiles, which were taken across the floodplain in two locations in the southern part of Morava River in study area called Strážnické Pomoraví. The aim was to confirm the stability of concentration of Pb in upper parts of all six profiles. Performing these analyses, a possible migration of Pb in lower parts of some profiles has unexpectedly been revealed. For better facial description of the profiles in floodplain fines, proxy methods such as cation exchange capacity (CEC), elementary analysis using energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (EDXRF) and also determination of content of magnetic particles using magnetic susceptibility in depth profiles were used. The results of these proxy methods were confirmed by conventionally used geochemical methods - BCR sequential extraction, elementary analysis with determination of Pb isotope ratios using ICP MS, and granulometric analysis.

Storing XML data described by XSEM in a database
Uher, Petr ; Holubová, Irena (referee) ; Nečaský, Martin (advisor)
Recently, XML is a standard language used for exchanging data among information systems. Therefore, it is necessary to exactly describe it both on a conceptual and also logical level. One of the conceptual models is XSEM model. This work is based on XSEM and it tries to specify rules for creation of a logical schema from a conceptual schema designed in XSEM. The logical schema is designed over object-relational database and it is trying to use a native storage of the XML documents. The rules for transformation are based on the rules for transformation of classical ER conceptual schema to a logical database schema. In this thesis, there is also described an algorithm for generating queries that reconstruct XML documents valid against schemas modeled in XSEM.

Design and synthesis of selective gallium(III) chelators
Krchová, Tereza ; Lorenc, Miroslav (referee) ; Kotek, Jan (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the preparation of two new ligands (based on the 1-oxa-4,7-diazacyclononane skeleton), which would be potentially suitable for fast and selective complexation of Ga(III). Complexes of these ligands could find applications in radiodiagnostics (PET, SPECT), or as a new class of contrast agents for MRI based on proton chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST). This thesis also describes the preparation of 1-oxa-4,7-diazacyclononane and attempts of preparation of N-benzyloxycarbonylaziridine. Thesis also includes a description of radiodiagnostic and radiotherapeutic methods of nuclear medicine. It also discusses the method of magnetic resonance tomography (MRI), especially the method using CEST contrast agents. Thesis contains an overview of the use of Ga(III) radioisotopes in radiomedicine.

Use of Derivatives in International Trade in Agricultural Commodities
Plchotová, Jitka ; Sedláček, Jiří (advisor) ; Chalupa, Leoš (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to theoretically describe the risks connected to entrepreneurship. Stress is put mainly on financial risks that are related to price shifts of agricultural commodities and to changes in the exchange rates. The basis lies in theoretical identification of the nature of possible risks, methods of risk evaluation and description of instruments that serve for the risk elimination. This theoretical knowledge is further applied in case studies dealing with hedging of commodity and currency risks of firms that conduct business in agricultural basic industry. The analysis of firm's position, demonstration of hedging and final evaluation of efficiency are included.

Automatic Construction of an XML Schema for a Given Set of XML Documents
Vyhnanovská, Julie ; Nečaský, Martin (referee) ; Holubová, Irena (advisor)
XML language is a popular communication and data exchange format. But there are still a lot of documents that have no XML schema definition. This thesis is focused on an automatic construction of an XML schema for such documents. As an XML schema description language XML Schema is used. This thesis is mainly focused on the advanced XML Schema construsts such as inheritance and on the ways of how user interaction can help in the schema inference process.

Comparison of Alternative Exchange Rate Regimes
Hrabovský, Jaroslav ; Taušer, Josef (advisor) ; Černá, Iveta (referee)
The aim of this bachelors' thesis is to describe and compare alternative exchange rate regimes. Firstly, the problem of classification of exchange rate regimes is analyzed, followed by the description of main phases of evolution of the international monetary system and the comparison of those phases by using the concept of "impossible trinity". Moreover, the description and analysis of alternative exchange rate regimes is provided and also the validity of "bipolar view" is scrutinized, also by describing some concrete examples of economies operating under specific exchange rate regimes.
